You can make a good diffuser out of paper that folds flat and fits in your wallet. Just measure the circumference of the end of your light. Cut a strip of paper that wide and as long as you want the diffuser. Fold the strip in half and tape one end and the long side shut. Insert your light into the open end when you need a lantern. Cheap and easy! If you want to use the light for reading, cover one side of the paper diffuser with black tape.
I just saw the light cone/cap thingie in another review (for an L2D). It's pretty neat, but I imagine it would be a bit difficult to pocket and easy to misplace.

yup, same concepts at the diffuser cone. I can see how some people would poke fun at that though =D

VERY good tip, fenix alsom sells the plastic diffuser caps that work the same way, but this is a much cheaper way of gettign the same effect!
