@Goldenfury12 there more to it then that. There is DMCA (old act that at least have some safe harbor Bill Clinton), Patriot Act (Massive Spying on everyone George W. Bush Jr.) , ACTA (A Trade Agreement that will censor and monitor the net, Obama), COPA (Censorship disguised as child protection despite we already have strong laws for child protection, Obama), OPEN (SOPA+PIPA Part 2, Obama) NDAA (Military can Arrest anyone, anywhere for any reason, Obama)
@Goldenfury12 Obama is a Corporate Lawer for the RIAA/MPAA/Hollywood So yeah Obama is a snake and he dose no justice being the first African American President as he is giving us a bad name. We need a true Open Government. The old method of Governance is out of date, and easily corrupted by greed, and power.
I used to like AVG...but it SUCKED my CPU so bad. I use Vipre now. I'd love a reason to re-download AVG but I've just heard bad things about it. Saying that it lets virus's in, doesn't do it's job correctly, ect ect. I've had issues with AVG also feeling that it gives me virus's because I had it for a year and it said I had no virus's, but then I uninstall it and imeditatly install something else and bam, virus's... So if you guys improved the stopping power of it, I'l prolly try it again.
The ad should have acknowledged the use of the resin and how it related to the strength of the cage. The toothpicks were the only aspect mentioned in the ad though.
Although you do happen to mention it in your response to an earlier reply, it should have been incorporated into the advertisement in some way to better explain things, as most people would acknowledge the resin having as much to do with the cage structure and it's strength as the toothpicks.
I would be the idiot to be like, "Pretty kitty! I wanna pet it!" Then I would stick my hand out to pet it and I would lose it in heart beat!!! Yep that experiment is not for me!
seems a little extreme to go through all this for an avg commercial... BUT tigers are awesome and i loved seeing them in this! also i've had avg for awhile and it's pretty good too :)
Brilliant, AVG! Awesome ad. Like others mentioned, the only YouTube ad I've watched to completion. Very compelling. Beautiful cinematography. Great concept and metaphor, executed to perfection. I'm sold!
Usually things like this work the other way... you seen a commercial of a music band and check them out, but I saw this commercial while waiting for my music band lol
Let me get this straight. You flew a crew out to Thailand, built a cage out of toothpicks, put at risk two people. So that you would convince us to buy your product. Very well done! You sure as hell convinced me.
I will admit, this commercial convinced me to check out the website. not just cause the commercial was fascinating, but also because the work behind it was obvious and clear. A great metaphor and a great advertisement (but I wouldn't agree that I "respect" a virus's strength like I would a tiger, lol)
@Gmaster5x I was going to say the same thing, but it does fit the metaphor. Physically, they made a fiber-reinforced composite. No big deal. But if their software effectively links computers as well as that glue did, then that is impressive.
Tigers are such beautiful creatures. That roar is awesome and even just the low growl. I honestly feel kind of annoyed though...if I was that tiger I'd be like "what the hell are you doing in my territory?" too....
@officialAVG Your lightest build yet really isn't saying much...
The advert is also flawed in that it is just as much the resin holding the toothpicks together as the toothpicks themselves protecting them, you basically made a cage out of very strong chipboard.
@Gmaster5x Hi - think about it this way... The toothpicks (our users) are brought together by a very strong resin (our software) which when put together provides strong protection from the tigers (viruses and other malware). There is more about the making of the cage in the behind the scenes interviews)
@officialAVG Word of advice guys; do not reply to negative comments like those, because they get put on the top of your page. It's impossible to please everybody.
There are proper channels for replying to negative comments, this isn't one of them.
@echo57z2 Actually alot of cheap wood comes glued together, what made the cage strong was the structural engineering, the way it was put together and the joints used the fact that it was toothpicks and glue had little to do with it but i think the point was the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
@DigitizedSelf looks to be a few stationary cameras controlled by remote since most of the exterior shots are the same angle but the zoom changes for some once the expeditionary team leaves them alone
@Lawliet1409 Actually according to what Ive seen, read, and watched for many years, on average tigers are bigger/heavier then lions. This can vary a lot from species to species of course but in general tigers are normally bigger and or heavier. The guy in the video said tigers are the largest CAT in the world, which is true as far as wild feline species which is what he is referring to. Now if he said largest predator(land based) maybe some type of kodiak or polar bear I guess.
@CWBou812 Maybe I misunderstood what he mentioned in the video. But in my research, the average adult male lion (of course, depending on which species) is larger than the average male tiger (also depends on which species). Just because an animal is larger in one aspect, doesn't mean they are heavier. I agree that tigers are usually heavier, but lions are larger in some aspects.
I saw this in a browser side ad, I thought it was "can ONE TOOTHPICK stop MILLIONS of tigers." It turned out not to be that but this is still pretttty cool. :D
Google will definitely take cue from this trend.. The only two commercials I do not skip but look forward to are this one and the Google "search stories" commercial featuring a potato farmer from Kenya.
All these real-life scenario based commercials seem to work brilliantly.
I love tigers... definitely my favorite animal.. There so beautiful.. It`s like there presenting these people to the tigers as if there some type of prey.. Amazing animal..

" we were really glad to be inside that cage" NO YOU WEREN'T. A thousand dollars says you wanted to be anywhere but a cage in a jungle with a tiger on top of it.
I believe those were bamboo toothpicks. Bamboo is a remarkable material. Member of the grass family, it can have incredible strength.
