  • The word sleep did not exist in that cage.

  • they're not proving the strength of toothpick, but proving the strength of the adhesive material.

  • the guy who said tigers are the largest cats in the world is wrong...its the liger...

  • Wow, great commercial! Awesome work, keep it up! :)

  • This is how it needs to be with the internet vs Sopa and Pipa. Millions of users can stand up to this threat.

  • @Goldenfury12 there more to it then that. There is DMCA (old act that at least have some safe harbor Bill Clinton), Patriot Act (Massive Spying on everyone George W. Bush Jr.) , ACTA (A Trade Agreement that will censor and monitor the net, Obama), COPA (Censorship disguised as child protection despite we already have strong laws for child protection, Obama), OPEN (SOPA+PIPA Part 2, Obama) NDAA (Military can Arrest anyone, anywhere for any reason, Obama)

  • @Goldenfury12 Obama is a Corporate Lawer for the RIAA/MPAA/Hollywood So yeah Obama is a snake and he dose no justice being the first African American President as he is giving us a bad name. We need a true Open Government. The old method of Governance is out of date, and easily corrupted by greed, and power.

  • tigers are awesome

  • How about the camera guy recording OUTSIDE of the cage :)?

  • @rapidsuperclown he was in that truck

  • Very nice marketing strategy. Respect for a very innovative business model!

  • I used to like AVG...but it SUCKED my CPU so bad. I use Vipre now. I'd love a reason to re-download AVG but I've just heard bad things about it. Saying that it lets virus's in, doesn't do it's job correctly, ect ect. I've had issues with AVG also feeling that it gives me virus's because I had it for a year and it said I had no virus's, but then I uninstall it and imeditatly install something else and bam, virus's... So if you guys improved the stopping power of it, I'l prolly try it again.

  • That was epic...

  • So apparently this is what people do to prove a point. I would buy AVG, but I use Kaspersky.

  • @DestroyerofPeanuts Although if I didn't, I would totally buy AVG just because of this commercial.

  • The ad should have acknowledged the use of the resin and how it related to the strength of the cage. The toothpicks were the only aspect mentioned in the ad though.

Although you do happen to mention it in your response to an earlier reply, it should have been incorporated into the advertisement in some way to better explain things, as most people would acknowledge the resin having as much to do with the cage structure and it's strength as the toothpicks.

That aside, AVG is a good product.

  • That was pretty cool. Very interesting

  • Extremely good marketing and a very interesting ad. I liked the Facebook page just because of it.

  • This is how we need to be with youtube lol......

Millions of us coming together for once just to get back the old youtube.

BTW youtube dot com / home to get it back

  • Sparknotes ---> .....Tigers and toothpicks?

  • @QSengupta Me too. This is much more interesting than The Grapes of Wrath..

  • im the type of person that would have reached out to pet the tiger...

  • I would be the idiot to be like, "Pretty kitty! I wanna pet it!" Then I would stick my hand out to pet it and I would lose it in heart beat!!! Yep that experiment is not for me!

  • awesome commercial ever

  • thumbs up if this is the only ad you've ever watched fully!

  • best ad

  • Those 2 people in the cage have some major balls. I would say fuck that to just toothpicks... hell I would say fuck that to a steel cage!

  • this is a unique commercial in that i watched till the end. love it.

  • Wow, like the top comment says this was also my first advert I watched to the end.

  • seems a little extreme to go through all this for an avg commercial... BUT tigers are awesome and i loved seeing them in this! also i've had avg for awhile and it's pretty good too :)

  • wouldnt it be funny if they had a video ad with this video

  • pretty freaking epic commercial for you tube lets hope they dont play it over and over again lol

  • very relevant to avg

  • Best ad and only ad I ever watched completely.

  • Brilliant, AVG! Awesome ad. Like others mentioned, the only YouTube ad I've watched to completion. Very compelling. Beautiful cinematography. Great concept and metaphor, executed to perfection. I'm sold!

  • This is actually the first youtube commercial i watched in its entirety.

  • The only commercial on YouTube I ever watched to it's entirety.

    awesome.

  • @tobigforyou lol so true, usually i vow not to buy anything i see on a youtube commercial but this was just plain awesome.

  • @tobigforyou Why did you give my present To Big?

  • @Awilliams1202 such is unity... and the strength thereof.

  • Guys that isn't marijuana. It's tapioca.

  • Rise Against brought me here!

Usually things like this work the other way... you seen a commercial of a music band and check them out, but I saw this commercial while waiting for my music band lol

  • Damn nature, you scary.

  • @Awilliams1202 Exactly. I'd rather be in the cage used with super glue rather than one built with elmers craft glue.

  • i was sweating a little when i saw that it's raining...

  • @Awilliams1202 So if you bond togethor not but hardened glue then it will protect you? retard

  • @Awilliams1202 Thats kinda point... it represents the bond between the numbers as its strength.

  • OMFG that blew my mind!! i had to type in a captcha to comment and my captcha was TOOTHPICKS!!

  • is this an advertisement for AVG or how badass those toothpicks are?

  • Let me get this straight. You flew a crew out to Thailand, built a cage out of toothpicks, put at risk two people. So that you would convince us to buy your product. Very well done! You sure as hell convinced me.

  • really effective commercial...watched the entire thing.

  • first youtube ad where i actually watched the entire thing. good work :)

  • I will admit, this commercial convinced me to check out the website. not just cause the commercial was fascinating, but also because the work behind it was obvious and clear. A great metaphor and a great advertisement (but I wouldn't agree that I "respect" a virus's strength like I would a tiger, lol)

  • Fascinating commercial. Very cool.

  • the add was awesome. but are u guys nuts!! next time u wont be so lucky .

  • @Gmaster5x I was going to say the same thing, but it does fit the metaphor. Physically, they made a fiber-reinforced composite. No big deal. But if their software effectively links computers as well as that glue did, then that is impressive.

  • All this cool stuff just for a damn virus protection commercial... Still cool though, and I have AVG.

  • @Ruzlier @Awilliams1202 Actually guys, the plants in this film are tapioca plants.

  • @officialAVG Oh.

  • this was a ad so i have seen it like tons of times

  • I have AVG! Does this mean it can protect me from a lion attack. Yay

  • So AVG is like super glue?

  • Tigers are such beautiful creatures. That roar is awesome and even just the low growl. I honestly feel kind of annoyed though...if I was that tiger I'd be like "what the hell are you doing in my territory?" too....

  • you guys are very, very brave..

  • I'll never entrust my life to toothpicks

  • good video! so how does this work? all the users linked together?

  • So what happens if there's a snake in the cage and a lion outside?

  • Hey! Guess what is protecting me while I watch this video?

    AVG 2012 :D

  • funny how he says the tiger was not afraid to test the toothpicks LOL

  • definitely do not try and catch one of these by the toe. children, no.

  • i dislike using avg, too resource hungry the last time i used it but this is so sick

  • @Ravenclawfire Hi there, AVG 2012 is one of our lightest builds yet - very light on resources! Glad you liked the ad

  • @officialAVG Your lightest build yet really isn't saying much...

The advert is also flawed in that it is just as much the resin holding the toothpicks together as the toothpicks themselves protecting them, you basically made a cage out of very strong chipboard.

  • @Gmaster5x Hi - think about it this way... The toothpicks (our users) are brought together by a very strong resin (our software) which when put together provides strong protection from the tigers (viruses and other malware). There is more about the making of the cage in the behind the scenes interviews)

  • Comment removed

  • @officialAVG Word of advice guys; do not reply to negative comments like those, because they get put on the top of your page. It's impossible to please everybody.

There are proper channels for replying to negative comments, this isn't one of them.

  • holy shttt..

i would have cried when he jumped on that cageee. O_O

  • What was the bonding material like a super solution of glue or what ?

  • @kingsmileyz You can see more about the construction of the cage in the behind the scenes interviews!

  • @echo57z2 Actually alot of cheap wood comes glued together, what made the cage strong was the structural engineering, the way it was put together and the joints used the fact that it was toothpicks and glue had little to do with it but i think the point was the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

  • cool concept took some balls to be in that cage...

  • lol i'd be like "come at me bro!"

  • @echo57z2 Not really, Would have been a short video if they'd just used glue to protect them.....

  • @WillTheGamer101 Would have been even shorter if the toothpicks weren't glued together. Literally anything glued together could possibly stop a tiger

  • Notice how they didnt show the full making of the toothpick cage, they could easily have put metal rods in the middle of the tooth picks :L

  • @OWERProductions Hey there, you can find out more about the making of the cage on the behind the scenes interviews: YouTube URL is v=rNzK6uIW41g

  • AVG and RedBull need to make a vid together, that would be huge

  • AVG for the win

  • Was that a pot plant @ :44 seconds?!?!

  • @79turdferguson79 No, good spot but it's actually a tapioca plant.

  • @79turdferguson79 I thought the same thing.

  • AVG forever :)

  • Such an extrodanary extraordinary animal!

  • If you think that's hardcore think about the camera man sitting outside the cage ^.^

  • @DigitizedSelf looks to be a few stationary cameras controlled by remote since most of the exterior shots are the same angle but the zoom changes for some once the expeditionary team leaves them alone

  • @DigitizedSelf he was probably in his own cage.....or a bunch of cameras were just set up around the other cage

  • tigers is sooo cool.. too bad that humans like to hunt such a incredible animal.

  • i would hate to be the cameraman outside the cage XD

  • AVG is awesome. been using it for years. you guys rock

  • Its like a reverse zoo

  • This is the only skippable advertisement I actually watched.

  • Wow

  • i got to say it..... 'DAMN NATURE! YOU SCARY!" *heh hem. okay next video.

  • Don't stop, believing!

  • this is one hell of an ad !!!

  • i am making my next school project out of toothpicks.

  • that's pretty cool yo! want to see more. what else can toothpicks protect against?

  • @defgill tooth plaque?

  • Halfway through I was thinking I'd probably dance while in the cage in front of the tiger to see what it would do.

I then realized that it was pretty stupid. THEN I realized i'd do it anyway.

  • @Lawliet1409 Actually according to what Ive seen, read, and watched for many years, on average tigers are bigger/heavier then lions. This can vary a lot from species to species of course but in general tigers are normally bigger and or heavier. The guy in the video said tigers are the largest CAT in the world, which is true as far as wild feline species which is what he is referring to. Now if he said largest predator(land based) maybe some type of kodiak or polar bear I guess.

  • @CWBou812 Maybe I misunderstood what he mentioned in the video. But in my research, the average adult male lion (of course, depending on which species) is larger than the average male tiger (also depends on which species). Just because an animal is larger in one aspect, doesn't mean they are heavier. I agree that tigers are usually heavier, but lions are larger in some aspects.

  • I thought they were gonna trap a tiger in a cage after he said this tiger is very dangerous

  • I saw this in a browser side ad, I thought it was "can ONE TOOTHPICK stop MILLIONS of tigers." It turned out not to be that but this is still pretttty cool. :D

  • There's like 7 wild tiger's left it's amazing they even spotted one.

  • @rexcherry33 There is actually an estimated 3,200 left

  • Why the does the tiger run away all scared?

  • I came from the AD!

  • Check out the pot plant at 2:07.........

  • @golight It's actually a tapioca plant!

  • Google will definitely take cue from this trend.. The only two commercials I do not skip but look forward to are this one and the Google "search stories" commercial featuring a potato farmer from Kenya.

All these real-life scenario based commercials seem to work brilliantly.

  • Bet you thought that was a real tiger.

    NOPE

    CHUCK TESTA!

  • heck no!!!!

  • most ppls comps dont have the have horsepower of my computer

  • This was the first ad I didnt skip.

  • @jess98765433 yep haha

  • @jess98765433 yea me too

  • I saw this on an ad this is the only ad that I was willing to watch. Wow. The video is amazing! They are CRAZY!

  • the tiger is the real king of the jungle/forest

  • only add i didn't press the skip button on

  • That was a pretty awesome video!

  • Chuck Norris didn't need toothpicks. He used his bare hands!

  • This is one of the very few ads I didn't skip over, good job AVG. You didn't get my business, but I did watch your ad.

  • This is crazy. I would NEVER! do or try anything like this.

  • Holy crap! Only toothpicks or not, this was cool to watch!

  • thumbs up if u came here from playlist

  • Chuck Norris wouldn't have needed any toothpicks.

  • I love tigers... definitely my favorite animal.. There so beautiful.. It`s like there presenting these people to the tigers as if there some type of prey.. Amazing animal..

  • @computron808 Definitely agree here, beautiful and powerful! If you Google "Panthera", you will find out more about the charity we highly recommend you support (by donating) to help protect these awesome creatures!

  • for all the people that skipped this on the ads...they missed out. so cool

  • 1:03 "tigers the largest cat in the world"

    actually, a Liger is!

  • Damn nature..... you scary~!

  • This is truly an example of what numbers can do and what big of a difference it can make :)

    Really enjoyed the video!

  • " we were really glad to be inside that cage" NO YOU WEREN'T. A thousand dollars says you wanted to be anywhere but a cage in a jungle with a tiger on top of it.

  • 45 people tried this and failed

  • what if there were 3.5 million tigers?

  • crazy o.o i wouldnt do that to prove we could stop digital threads....a nice meeting would've gotten the job done xD

  • Wow!

  • I believe those were bamboo toothpicks. Bamboo is a remarkable material. Member of the grass family, it can have incredible strength. I believe bamboo is still used for scaffolding in some parts of Asia. AVG built a bamboo laminate structure for the cage. Short of steel, I would not have dared use anything else.

  • ช่างกล้า บ้าดีเดือดดีนะคับ อิอิอิ

  • that must have been scary

  • wow.

  • toothpicks..... and glue but it's still and impressive demo.

  • awesome if i may say so :)

  • 28 People got splinters while using a toothpick.

  • This is awesome lol

  • That's a really good commercial! A first ad I saw that actually made me wanna use the product ;)

  • How do you know the tiger wasnt just picking the antelope meat out of his teeth? They ARE toothpicks ya know..

  • "We must hang together for surely we will hang separately " Benjamin Franklin

  • I have been using avg for two years best protection ever

  • i saw this in an ad lol

  • I thought of minecraft when I saw this.

  • When Chuck Norris arrived, they had to put the Tiger in the cage.

  • Brilliant ad campaign

  • someone woke up on the wrong toothpick huh mr. tiger

  • wow

  • i used q-tips....... with butter....

  • Tooth picks and.....glue

  • question: was it mint flavored tooth picks?

  • Forget AVG, this video was cool. Only 1700 of these Bengal tigers left in the world people.. Really sad
