  • need for speed sound :D

  • how does your transmission hold up to the high rpm shifts?, i just got a 2005 Z and would like to track it but im unsure about the transmission.

  • @jakno3 : No problems at all. But I'm always using heel&toe during downshifts.

  • Fantastic driving.

  • Nice driving chap :)

  • @Chunkychucky : thank you ;-)

  • Just got my 35th anniversary edition. Where did you get your shift knob? Awesome driving btw

  • @jvs8864 : Thanks. If I remember correctly, I ordered it in Japan via Suruga Performance.

  • you drive like a professionnal bro !!!! what brake disc have u got ? APR

  • @theluxstig : Thanks ;) I'm using AP Racing front brakes : 6 pots calipers and 2 parts 363x32mm discs.

  • OMGosh. I bet you took a class in driving because your skills are right on! Seemless shifting and taking the corners with proper speed. Nice downshifting, upshifting, everything. I have only dreamed of ever racing on the Ring. Only In Gran Turismo. LOL. I remember the track from the video game and I was driving alongside with you trying to anticipate every move you made. I can only say that I failed so many times trying to shift or when you would shift. Love the engine sound. Z's rule! :)

  • @dirtydave79 : Thank you. Never took a class in driving. But I drove only RWD cars for 25 years (and drove them fast :), it helps !

  • Nice setup and great driving. Kudos...

  • @jake11375 : Thank you !

  • Haha I was cheering for you with every car you passed idk why. Especially that white hatch he seemed abnoxious! Nice run I wish I could drive my Z like that, but I dont have nearly enough driving skills

  • @Gozirra21 : Thanks ;) The white hatch is a RenaultSport Clio 200 Cup (I also own one). A very fast an nimble 200hp hot hatch. I think he was not happy to be overtaken by a ludicrously heavy 350Z ;-)

  • Very cool.

  • Very nice!

  • what are the mods? intake, exhaust, suspension, and tires very well tuned with a great driver I'm guessing? the grip on this z is insane

  • @DcEvoIX : I'm only using good roar tyres : Michelin Pilot Supersport. Mods include : AP Racing front brakes, Pagid RS29 ceramic Pads, Bilstein PSS10 shocks, H&R sway bars (36 and 23mm), Cusco adjustable front A Arm and rear suspension links + a good geometry. 8.5x18 and 9.5x18 rims with 245/40 and 265/40 PSS. This is a 280 hp model with some modifications on intake and exhaust + a remap, oil cooler and a baffled oil pan. 297 hp on the dyno.

  • @Taurim very well put together basically the same thing I wanted to do, I guess great minds think alike balance over power. and did you use the oil cooler for a reason? I know the 370z had issues with oil temps getting to hot on track days does that go for the 350z also or maybe just the hr motor?

  • @DcEvoIX : I also have an oil temp gauge. Without an oil cooler, the temp can go very high ! For sustained track use, an oil cooler is mandatory IMHO. It is known on the 370Z because there is a protection sensor. There is no such protection on the 350Z !

  • @Taurim oh ok I didn't know the and it's definitely not just an hr motor complication? because the 370z uses an hr also

  • @DcEvoIX : No, the DE engine alors runs very hot.

  • @Taurim ok thanks for the update I wasn't aware of that, and keep up the good work I dream of some day getting a to lap the ring

  • Taurim, i was wondering what coilovers your running on your z. Ive been trying to decide decide between KW V3, Zeal Fucntions, or Bleistein PSS10.

  • @TheNameIsMrGame : I'm using PSS10. The advantage is that you have well tuned hydraulic presets. With KW v3, you can adjust compression and rebound separately. But you will have to find the correct settings by yourself.

  • good video bro..nice driving!

  • hey man what shift knob is that??

  • @zcarver25 : It's the Nismo GT Titanium.

  • @Taurim do you like it? im afraid to stray away from the "ball" type shape of the stock shifter is the cyclinder'ish nismo a different feeling?

  • @zcarver25 : The shape is perfect and the increased weight gives a very good feeling. The default is during winter or in the sun, the metallic knob becomes very cold or very hot !

  • wow the grip of that z is amazing I hope I can get mine to that point when I get it this spring I can't wait I'm so impatient lol

  • this is how i drive in forza

  • @ImAman555 : I'm not as fast in Forza ;-)

  • @Taurim touche ;)

  • Very impressive drive on the Nurburgring. I'd like to know a little more about your 350Z if you don't mind... What model year of the car and trim level were you driving? Have you made any modifications aside from the ESP disable switch mentioned in another response? What kind of tires were you running? Thanks in advance.

  • @swthurman :The car is a 2004 280 hp 350Z. There is a lot of mods : AP Racing front brakes, Pagid RS29 ceramic Pads, Bilstein PSS10 shocks, H&R sway bars (36 and 23mm), Cusco adjustable front A Arm and rear suspension links + a good geometry. 8.5x18 and 9.5x18 alloys with Michelin Pilot Suport Sport (not cup) 245/40 and 265/40. Inside : Recaro bucket seats. Engine : oil cooler, MREV2 + air filter, inox exhaust (incl. headers), remap.

  • @Taurim How do you like the new Michelin Supersport tires on the 350Z? (for driving on the nurburgring) I´m currently using the Bridgestone R050´s but they are almost done. Was planning to go for the Supersport ´s...

  • @JohnRS82 : I was previously using RE050A (245/40 and 275/40). PSS have a better grip and slightly better wear resistance : love it :-)

  • Automotive poetry!

Smooth throttle control, perfect downshifting and total commitment to every corner.

    And that glorious noise.

    Cracking video chief!

  • @christophereeles : Thank you ;-)

  • awesome driving....are you using some form of ESP on those runs? you never ever seem to need to flick the steering the opposite way to correct out of turns.

  • @10eleven : Nothing except ABS. I modified my 350Z to totally disable ESP with a switch on the 12V line to the ESP yaw sensor so I can totally disable the ESP. On a stock Z the ESP remains active under braking, even when disabled with the dashboard switch. It is a very annoying feature when you drive on track at the limit.

  • are you taking your foot off the gas when you shift?

  • @sonic911 : when upshifting yes. When downshifting I always use heel&toe to keep the revs in sync.

  • @Taurim i figured...it just didnt sound like u were lol....does your clutch ever get stuck? cuz mine sometimes when i shift really fast it gets stuck half way and the rpms skyrocket while its still "in gear"....like if i shift at like 6000rpm too fast into 4th gear, the clutch will stop about halfway let out and the rpms will still be at 6000 but in 4th gear....idk if u understand what i mean but its weird...i dont know if this is normal on z's, maybe im just giving it gas too early

  • @sonic911 : never had any problem with my clutch. For Heel&toe : toe on the brake and right side of the foot on the accel. Heel on the floor. The "heel & toe" expression is misleading. Watch some race videos or Best Motoring videos for example ;)

  • @Taurim also when you heel toe...do you have your toes pointed toward the acclerator and or towards the brake...my friend has his towrds the brake nd claims its easier

  • mad respect from the US, I'd like to learn how to track with my Z. thanks to you I will actually look into it.

  • This is a very impressive time. Annoyingly a minute faster then my best in my 350z. I shall be making a note of your set up info for future reference...

  • Awesome driving man. Props!

I got a z as well, but I can't drive it anywhere near that fast xD

  • awesome cam! those are g-force reading right?

  • @donkeygong64 : Yes. I'm not using this video system anymore (not HD) but the integrated accelerometer was cool.

  • got a nismo 350z, know where i can rent something similiar?

  • Only if you ripped at e-brake..

  • Nice driving, nice car. Although if I may, you loose time on adenauer forst with your early corner entry, so you have to wait even longer before powering out of the corner. You might win a few seconds there mate ;)

  • @2005pierric : You lose time by going too far on the right at the Adenauer Forst entrance. It's a common mistake. It is also faster to sacrifice the first left to exit faster from the right. There is a straight after it.

But I agree with you, my line could be cleaner at AF in this lap.

  • @Taurim Any modifications? Or stock? By the way I looking for the official z34 nurbur lap time do you know where I can find it or are you going to film the lap time like you did here? I very interested to see what the Z can do after it's big brother GT-R set a lap of 7'29.03 (now 7'25).

  • Nice driving.

  • Fantastic driving! I'm saving for a Zed!

  • lovin the g meters

  • You drive really well What set up have you got.

  • @3ridetec : Thanks ! AP Racing front brakes, Pagid RS29 ceramic Pads, Bilstein PSS10 shocks, H&R sway bars (36 and 23mm), Cusco adjustable front A Arm and rear suspension links + a good geometry. 8.5x18 and 9.5x18 alloys with Pirelli PZero (not Corsa) 245/40 and 265/40. ESP is totally removed (yaw sensor in the center console disconneted).

  • Beastly. I'm jealous.

  • Very nice, I wish I will be able to drive like that some day... so far I am just practising on the computer :D But i want to take my Crossfire on Nurburgring in a few weeks. Do you think that Crossfire with somebody like you behind the wheel can do it under nine minutes?

  • @indiv1dual : yes probably, especially if it is a SRT6 ! But some improvements may be necessary on the brakes. (like a vast majority of the sport cars on the market).

  • Love this video, I keep coming back to it.

  • I drive a '04 Z - This is good driving mate, I want to take mine to the track - Respect :)

  • @Nemmeh7501 : Thanks ;-) It's a nice and fun car but there is a lot of mods to do to make it a good trackday car.

  • @Nemmeh7501 -i am taking my Z in June, but some how doubt i will be driving that quick first time round....lol

  • traction controll is on. for sure.!

  • @boyjkl1121 : no it's not. On the stock Z, the ESP is always active when you brake, even when disabled with the dashboard switch. To remove everything except ABS on mine, the ESP yaw sensor in the center console is disconnected so it can't work ;-)

  • @scenehouser : Thanks ! AP Racing front brakes (6 pots, 363x32mm), Pagid RS29 ceramic Pads, Bilstein PSS10 shocks, H&R sway bars (36 and 23mm), Cusco adjustable front A Arm and rear suspension links + a good geometry. 8.5x18 and 9.5x18 alloys with Pirelli PZero (not Corsa) 245/40 and 265/40.

ESP is totally removed (yaw sensor in the center console disconneted). It is not possible to totally disable stock ESP (always active under braking) and it's very annoying.

  • i like the Renault Clio........fast litle car .....and i like the rwd control.......nice work

  • @hlotto : Thanks. The guy in the Clio Cup (totally stock) at the end of my lap was very fast with it !

  • This is BTG, not a full lap. A genuine full lap would be like 10 minutes.

  • @V6POWA this video is 9.35 dickhead.

  • @aidan21 : no, on the Nürburgring during Touristenfahrt, we time the laps from the Bilstein Bridge at 0'36 to the Gantry at 8'47". It is called a BTG lap.

  • @V6POWA : a full lap is approximately 20 to 25" longer. So It would be a 8'31 to 8'36".

  • is it turbocharged?? or stock

  • @Ronaldo9thelegend : the engine is stock. little mods to the intake, headers, no cat and a remap. Output is 297 HP on the dyno. What makes the car fast is the brakes and the chassis ;-)

  • very nice driving!!! what tires and brakes are you using??? what´s the weight of your car and how many hp´s producing?

  • @manuelqF1N : Thanks ! Pirelli PZero (not cup), AP Racing front brakes + Pagid RS29. 1475 Kg and 297 HP.

  • do you live in germany or something? how do you get to go the the ring so much?

  • @ilovecats748 : I live in France 650 Km (400mi) away from the Ring (and 400mi away from Spa Francorchamps, another nice circuit !). It's too far but I like it :-)

  • @Taurim Lucky!

  • @Taurim

So is would say you live in south of france, why dont you come to the Hockenheimring in Germany it would be nearer than Spa or Nordschleife? ;)

  • @DrMoscht : No, I live 80 Km west from Paris. Spa & Nürburg are closer... and are the 2 best tracks in the World ;-)

  • j'adore!

  • very nice driving , and i wanna say how did u learn to drive on a circuit

  • @america3099 : By myself ;-) I've always driven MR and FR cars on small and twisty roads. It may have helped ;-)

  • can i ask what year model this is and its a manual right?

    Great driving btw

  • @PreviewHD : It is a 2004 model with the 6 speed manual gearbox of course.

  • are you on a stock lsd? btw good driving

  • @xm154609 : Thank you ;-) I'm using the stock viscous LSD with fresh Motul PA90 oil.

  • Very good driving!! That Clio in the end goes pretty fast aswell!

  • Klasse gefahren!

  • good driving and nice video, btw where do you mount you camera?

  • @super55lb : I have a small aluminium arm holding the bullet cam attached to the back of the passenger bucket seat with a big hard drive magnet.

I attached a metal plate at the back of the seat to receive the arm and the magnet.

So it is easy to install and remove the camera in a few seconds. The metal plate shape holds the arm in position so the field of view is always OK.

  • Good times and always better!! I run similar times (best 08:15) with my 350z with ESP disconnected manually but I have less tyres squeal though so out of interest what are your geometry, ride height, anti-roll bar and damper setting?.

My mods are similar w.r.t to big brakes, suspension, engine and exhaust. After remap using the Utec piggyback ECU i posted 315HP.

Did you uprated your bushes? I am contemplating changing the rear subframe ones which are too soft!

    Thanks for sharing info.

  • Geometry : -1.6° front camber and -2.2° rear camber. 15" toe in front & rear. 30mm lower car. Bilstein PSS10 set @ 10 (harder). H&R anti-roll bar set on the hardest setting. Front Cusco A-Arm and 4 rear Cusco suspension links without bushings on the inner side. Engine posted 297HP after remap (280 model, 265HP stock). Rota P45R wheels 8.5x18" and 9.5x18" with PZero 245/40 & 265/40. AP Racing 363x32 front brakes, Pagid RS29 pads all round. Front brake cooling ducts under the car.

  • Wow, looks like you got a lot more grip with the 245/265 setup compared to the 245-all-around setup. I see you going thru corners in 3rd that you did in 2nd when you had the old tire setup.

    Again, great job rev-matching!

    -fellow Z33 driver

  • @mavtais : Thanks ;-)

Car was way too twitchy with 245 all round. It was fun on a little track but definitely dangerous on the Ring ! 265 rear tires made a big difference ! Car is still neutral (I like it like that) and it can easily oversteer but it it not dangerous like it was with 245 !

  • @Taurim how does the z's reliability stack up to these driving conditions?thinking bout gettin one for 2nd / track car time to retire the 240

  • @vabeachbully : you have to do some mods to improve oil cooling and add a baffled oil pan. You also have to improve the front brakes, the car is heavy !

  • @Taurim thanks for the insight ive read horror stories about the oil cooling

  • great video and great driving! From one Z owner to another.

  • @SRQpromotion : Thanks ;-)

  • Great driving and great video!!! Thanks for sharing.

How many laps of experience do you have on the Ring? I wish we had such a track in the US. I'd love to drive the Ring someday, but probably never in my 350Z.

By the way... How many laps can you get out of a set of tires?

  • @Quidproquo07093 : Thank you ! I've done more than 300 laps with 2 cars (350Z and a BMW 330 Ci). I can do aprox. 60 laps with a set of front tires and 40 laps with the rear tires.

  • Me too i like too look all your video and i weel came too ring in spring too see.Did you no record time for full lap in ring for 350z 313hp

    thx

    Look my video GROBNIK 350Z

    Dado from Croatia

  • You aint half a great driver for someone who only does this as a hobby lol. good stuff!

  • @dhale750 : Thank you ;-)

  • super,

its not easy to follow the ring taxi.

    Is your car standaard 280ps?

I see you were on franchorchamps duez days.

I was there too, you are really great driver.

    greetings

    Dany

    BELGIUM

  • Thanks a lot ;-) What was your car ? My Z is a 280ps model with some mods. On the engine : intake plenum + headers, decat, catback and a remap. 300ps on the dyno.

  • I was there in white M3 csl. but i'm looking to buy another car(les costly) to get some more circuit experience. I was thinking about E36 M3 or maybe a 350z... (It just have to be fast and rear wheel drive, i love rear wheel drive :-) )So i went looking at youtube for some circuit movies and i found yours. Now i'm more excitingabout 350z. :-p I went several times to nurburg to but i've never pushed it to the limit like your are. Do you race professional too or is it just hobby? greetings

  • It's just a hobby ;) The 350Z can be OK for track use but you have to take care of the brakes and oil system. Front big brake kit, baffled oil pan and oil radiator are almost mandatory. If you want to have fun, you have to totally disable the ESP (disconnecting it via the dashboard is not enough).

  • i want to see your car from the outside

    sick skills

which wheels do you have on that Z ?

  • Rota P45F 18x8.5" and P45R 18x9.5".

You can find a recent picture of my car as a background of my youtube homepage (click on my name) or search for "Taurim 350Z" on Google Image ;-)

  • nice yea found the Z ^^

seems not havily tuned or something no changes on the bodykit right ?

  • Nothing. The big mods are on the brakes, shocks, suspension arms and swaybars + some mods on the engine for track usage : oil cooler, oil pan with baffles, oil temperature sensor and gauge...

  • thats what i call usefull tuning !

ABS and the electronic stuff is unplugged ?

is there a overrollbar in the car ?

  • ABS is not unplugged (no manual repartition, Electronic Brake Distribution) but ESP is inoperant (yaw sensor disconnected). No rollbar in the car because I use the car on the road in France and that kind of modification is not legal and very visible !

  • :D not legal even when its for the safety of the driver kk understood that have fun !

  • nice driving taurim

  • Super temps taurim ;) elle tourne bien cette Z, le bruit est magnifique !

Je pense que les semi slicks manquent vu le chassis que tu as, essaye-les ! :) (r-mode)

  • Congratulations man!! Excellent driving skills on an exceptional (and difficult) track. I tried the ring once, with a Clio RS Cup (RSR car rental), and managed to do a 9.29 lap (BTG). So your 8.11 is impressive.

On attend avec impatience un petit 7.59......

  • Mmmm... I don't think I will be able to do that with this car. 8'05" maybe...

  • I think there is some leeway to achieve a 7.59 lap. Obviously, this mean some more risks.....but unfortunately the ring don't allows mistakes.

  • The sum of my best partial times is 8'05". That's the reason why I think going under that time will be difficult... Or I need to switch to semi slicks...

  • Why didn't you never try the semi-slicks on the ring?

If I'm not wrong, there is some street-legal semi slicks tyres

  • I'm 600 Km away from the ring. On a heavy car like the Z, I'm affraid to eat half of the tires just for the trip. And the car is too small to bring a set of spare wheels :-/

  • do the mods give a good horsepower gain? and are the brakes and suspension stock. Aslo do you run with the traction control on or off.

    Thank you.

  • The stock 280 engine power output at the dyno was 265 hp. Now it is 297 ;)

AP Racing front brakes (6 pots, 363x32mm), Pagid RS29 ceramic Pads, Bilstein PSS10 shocks, H&R sway bars (36 and 23mm), Cusco adjustable front A Arm and read links + a good geometry.

ESP is totally removed (yaw sensor in the center console disconneted). It is not possible to totally disable stock ESP (always active under braking) and it's very annoying.

  • Thank you. you've managed a good time with good driving. I have a z and as stock I would be reluctant to take on a track like that with varying conditions pushing like that cause I think I would end up in the wall. Obviously the mod that you have done make a significant difference to the dynamics of the vehicle. does the car understeer or oversteer more with this set up. its a very good acheivement with a modest sports car.

  • I tried to make it as neutral as possible. So there is less understeer than stock.

  • hey,

    very good lap.

    is the engine stock

  • The engine itself is stock. There is some modifications on the intake plenum + exhaust headers, cats (now decat) and catback + a remap. There is also an oil cooler an a bigger oil pan.

  • hi, you must be happy!!

    you beat the bmw time!

keep on driving and showing us your videos.

  • Yes :) One year to setup the car correctly but now it works :)

  • When are you going to break the 8 min barrier??? You got me excited to see. Good luck!

  • Given my best intermediate times, I could do 8'04" or 8'05" on an empty track and no mistakes but I don't think I will be able to go under 8' with this car :'(

  • R- tyres? If so what kind?

    Nice driving!

  • Thanks ;)

I use road tyres : Pirelli PZero "The Hero" (the new ones, not the rosso or yellow or nero). 245x40 18 front and 265x40 18 rear.

  • Excellent driving! Love 350Z. You now are in my favourites with "Gan San" and Jim Mero.....

  • Thanks :*)
