Vinicius Cantuaria plays bossa nova here , I'd call it "NuBossa" in fact. While being still firmly rooted in Bossa Nova, his work and compositions move this classic musical style one step further.
On this extract while he takes care of the bossa rythmic frame, Bill Frisell solos bring a jazz/groove touch.
If you want to dig more modern bossa/samba sounds you can check Vinicius albums of course but also artists like Clara Moreno, NuBraz, Jam Da Silva, Seu Jorge.
@thisissoclever hey check out joe henry... i have two albums that i love. one: civilians (w/ bill frisell on it) and another called scar with marc ribot on guitar as well as an all star group of improvisational magicians
may I suggest Filigranas, a very eclectic band from Colombia which has a very brazilian lush vibe... their album Wah-wah songs is fantastic!

Just to clarify, I meant specifically in terms of guitar.

I'm really digging the vibe on this one. What would you classify this as? R&B / Soul? Can anyone recommend me some music with a similar sound?

Thanks so much for posting this. Bill Frisell is using the FUZZ-STANG fuzz pedal I make on this tune starting around 4:30
