  • Pastrana has a really casual style. He cant compete with the new generation of motocross where guys are scrubing every jump and hanging everything on the edge. Hes a great rider but he has to step his game up

  • You know when I was a kid I dreamed that they would make motocross more affordable, so that many many many more people could try it out, or make it a hobby. Maybe it would even go mainstream someday. The japs arent guilty for making motocross over twice as expensive, it is the doofuses that jumped on the four stroke bandwagon after the AMA gave them a huge advantage with rules. Way to go, you bought a four stroke increased your cost for something that might get you 2 seconds a lap unfairly

The AMA ofcourse went with them by making 2smokes against the rules.Now it costs 5 times the money to repair your motor. USA gets more sales tax money, Japs get way more bike part money, and people are fooled into thinking four strokes are faster because "the pros" ride them, not realizing "the pros" have no choice.They are heavy, and slow comparing cc's

  • Dude, they're like a couple pounds heavier and they're a hell of a lot easier to ride. I have a 250 2-stroke and nobody at AMA has ever said shit to me about racing it. Its not illegal to ride them on a closed course.

    All mx bikes however are illegal to ride anywhere except on a closed racing course. They can't ban 2-strokes dude. Think about all the amatuers on 50's 65's and 85's

  • @d1incharge Comparing the competitives classes of 2 strokes and 4 strokes (which is defined by horse power, not cc's) 4 strokes are faster. Ask any good rider that is good with both 4 strokes and 2 stokes and he will tell you he sets faster times with 4 strokes.

None really, so what you said is retarded because no good rider has ridden a 125 2smoke and then a 4 stroke with the exact same power and torque, the 4 has more (because it cheats and uses twice the cc, to get 10% more power with 15% more weight) . lb for lb, cc for cc 4 strokes are slower. Period.

It doesn't make sense since cc are not what defines their horsepower. I am comparing horsepowers, and thats why 250 2 stroke runs with 450's, cause they have about the same horsepower (look it up). But 4 strokes can output this power more efficiently and stabily to the ground, making it faster. Period.

They dont' efficiently put it to the ground, it allows for doofuses to make it around the track w/out worrying about peak HP, there is no pointy power curve on a four stroke, it has a platue hp curve, meaning not only more max HP, but more hp throughout the rpm range, CHEATING, plain and simple, if you want to put a pro on two 45 hp bikes, with identical power curves, but one is lighter due to 2cycle design, my $ is on 2strok

  • @d1incharge 450 and 250 2 s both have about 45hp and 2 stroke will never have the linear power curve of a 4 stoke (that what i mean't by stabily). And by efficiently i meant that 4 stroke can get much more traction.

  • @Eduardo12388 Peak HP, they are close, true. They get more traction depending on the soil, they do worse in sand because they dig too deep. Much of that added traction comes from the linear power in combination to the added weight, and slightly due to advances they didn't give the 2strokes in suspension and fram design. They are more stable due to the added centrifical force of haveing twice the motor, cause and effect, yeah if they let you cheat on cc, you can get better traction with = HP yay

But put it like this, those ktm 350 4 strokes are still faster then the 250 2 strokes, even with less HP. Dude i love 2 strokes and I ride a CR 250, but all I'm trying to say is that 4 strokes are in fact faster and thats the reason 2 strokes got fully substituted in supercross and motocross.

It is not cheating when the fact is a two stroke makes more power per cc by far, that is why that got popular. Change the rules to put a four stroke on top and there we have it. You could make a 450 2stroke run so similar to a 4t today it is not funny, but it wouldnt' pass the rules. Those rules that favor todays four strokes, those sponsors and part makers. Faster should really only matter to riders making$

For example, if you get two same street bike with same cc and put a turbo on one of them, would it make sense to race them together because they have the same cc? no because one of them will have much more horsepower (just an example). so yeah, they need to base it on horsepower.

You can make the power curve of any motor linear if you want. Ever seen a trail 2 smoke like KDX, or ktm's trail bikes, there are 2 smokes with 4 strokish power curves.

  • @HomeEnergyNow with the rules they have and the bikes you are compareing a two strok to yes a 450 4 stroke will kill a 250 2 stroke if you have the same skill level rider on both ... every one knows that it takes double the cc but that is irrelevant yes a two stroke makes more power but it has no where near the same amount of torqe and a 250 two stroke will get eaten alive on a tight track because of the torq and how the 4 stroke puts it to the ground and it will just be worse on a big track

  • @d1incharge and they actually do have a choice the pros ride them because they are faster ... i know a 2 stroke 450 would kill a 450 4 stroke... but with the rules an regulations they go by... a 450 has more power and tons of torq in comparison to the 250 2 stroke, and the 450 will turn a faster lap than the 250 two stroke ... it has been proven, the torq kills the 2 stroke on the tight tracks and it simply out powers it everywhere on the big tracks with the rules they have to follow ...

AMA could say a 2smoke could be even lighter than allowed, more HP than allowed, more suspension and so on, whatever it takes to make them even. They don't. If you don't race for money, why do you own a 4stroke? Love the maintenance cost/extra weight and kicking a bike all damn day? The customers need to STOP funding four strokes cause thats what their heroes ride.

  • @d1incharge okay jason lawrence practiced on a yz250 and the ama allowed him to run a 250 2stroke in the lights class with the 250 4stroke look it up, he opted out because after doing everything they could to make his laps as consistent as they were on the 4stroke they still couldnt.they ride them because the 4stroke puts the power down better and they put more power down. not because they have to ... if you had two rc's the one on the 4 stroke would win ...

  • Lets start with, its Jason Lawrence. Then lets move to the windham grant race with 450f vs. 250f where they were side by side. The magazines put 250f vs. 125 with only a few seconds a lap, and 250 2 strokes having faster lap times than 250f with multiple riders. An article I read tested with multiple riders and multiple tracks noting that the 250 2 actually beat the 450 in certain conditions.(think it was deep sand)The industry is leaving their 2 stroke tech alone,like fuel injection

  • @d1incharge a two stroke cannot be fuel injected unless you add a computer and another type of forced induction such as turbo or super charger . i would know because im a diesel tech . and i used to race motocross and i raced for srs motorsports for 10 years and now im a mechanic there . you say there is only a few seconds a lap difference ... that is a huge difference...do you realize that at the end of a 20 lap moto if it were just a 1 second difference the 4 stroke would be 20 seconds ahead

They have been around a while diesel genious.Injection was invented in 1925, LOL maybe you could look it up they are all over the internet! A few seconds a lap might be a big deal to Reed, but NO rider outside of the AMA should really give a shit, because you could make up that 3 seconds up in one corner. btw, Diesel mechanics dont use the word tech, wanna be's do.   • @brandonch25 That makes sense cause four strokes are easier for beginners to ride. 2 strokes take talent. 3 seconds in a 2 minute lap is about the difference, or 1.5%. If you need that 1.5% to win at a local race, and are willing to spend four times on maintenace not including the steeper sticker price for 1.5% at a race giving plastic trophies..........fine. I havent raced since like 06, but I won, on a 125. Guess I should have bought a four stroke? Win by 1.5% more. Rules favor the fours.

At least a 125 hits with its little bit of hp, a 250f spreads itls hp around and weighs so god damn much I don't care if my lap times are faster I feel like such a fag riding one. All that noise for what? The magazine had 2 minute laps at their test track, don't remember which mag is was but THEY DID BETTER AT ONE TRACK ON A 250 2 VS A 450. I am sure the mag was full of shit though, cause your a local pro.

  • @brandonch25 If you are that much faster on a four stroke, ask any pro, that is because you suck. The better the rider you are, the lesser the bike makes a difference. Cairoli passed Allessi after he broke his shifter off and was stuck in second on an outdoor natioanal track...........ITS THE RIDER!! You come up with excuses why you go faster on a bike that is easier to ride, because it is more beginner freindly, guess what that makes you. Mitch payton says 4 times the cost but you know better

  • @d1incharge umm it doesnt make me anything its called having better equipment . ive rode a two stroke all my life until 2006 dude .any pro coming off a250 two stroke will fucking go faster on the 450its a fact .im not making a fucking excuse .if james stewart turns the fastest lap of the race on a 250 2 sroke he will turn a faster fucking lap on the 450. yes it is about the rider but you are limited to the capabilites of your machine also .you make it sound like two strokes are god or some shit

  • Like I said if your not AMA it really doesnt' matter anybody AMA could probably beat you and I riding 125s while your on a 450. All the local tracks are filled with guys that have all the cool add ons and suspension and none of them could touch stewart on a stock 125 with half the HP.Its 90% Rider.Not like big money is involved at the local track, if it costs thousands to go from 2nd to 1st, I'll practice instead.You cant tell me if a 2smoke costs you 10%, you havent got 10% go gain by practice?

  • @d1incharge your whole arguement was about why the pro's did not race 2 strokes anymore , i simply told you why , i also do not race anymore unless its for fun. but i told you i work for srs motorsports and they are involved in arenacross and nchsa which have factory teams that come out to the events, and yes james stewart probably could outrun both of us on a 125 .. my whole arguement is that the 450 is faster and if your fast on the 250 you will be faster on the 450.

  • maybe you woud be faster yet on a 650? Where do you stop? All they have to do is change the rules, redesign the tracks a bit and 650's will be the next big thing. My point is the rules favor four strokes by double the cc, and there is no replacement for displacement. The results I don't like are 8,000$ motorcycles with so many extra moving parts, more weight of metal coming to get you in a crash, and making it harder to build tracks due to Db's of noise. And all the kicking I see sucks to watch

  • @d1incharge 4bangers arent as expensive to maintain as what people think IF... big IF... you learn to maintain them yourself... Of course they are going to be more than a 2smoker but provided you keep up preventative maintainance and do the rebuilds yourself then its a small price to pay for a bike that has a WAY more useful powerband. I am not in either camp; Ive had both, and the difference is minimal if you are proactive at keeping your bike running sweet... and always change the air filter!!

  • @at802 Guess you didn't have the kxf 250 that was notorious for blowing up, or the crf that would drop the right exhaust valve. You said of course they are going to be more than a two stroke, but not as much as people think. IT IS FOUR TIMES THE COST OF A TWO STROKE. I don't care if it is 5 $ vs. 20$ I went through three pistons in a couple hundred very hard hours of riding, I will never do that to a four stroke. Pay the extra, if the AMA gives them a rule advantage it must make them better.
