Brodeur was snowed after the puck had already gone through the 5 hole from the shooter's backhand. The reason this goal was successful was because Hagman skated directly at Brodeur and triggered a late release. Most of the time we see an earlier release from players in the direct path of a goalie and if they do trigger a later release, they're usually off to one side or another. Naturally, Hagman had to stop from crashing into Brodeur or the net but the snow had nothing to do with it.

I'd say the teams are actually pretty even. The Leafs lack in offensive power, have heart, good defense, and a good goalie.

The Devils have some heart, awful defense, OK offense and the best goalie to ever lace it up.

Saying that the Devils are a much better team is at best a fallacy, and at worst willful ignorance.
