if this were to become reality... how easy would it be for the enemy to hack into the control system and use it against us! you have to keep that one major flaw in mind
Probably one of the most realistic robots I've seen - it's missing a few bits and pieces that it probably ought to have, but by and large? Freaking awesome.
yeah, right, 1...my bad :) but if it will lose 1 leg it cant move anymore...so rather 6, + ya can set more weapons, better passability and maneuverability
I would love to have one of those as a support vehicle... provided of course that it was actually piloted (even if only by remote) by an actual human being. I don't trust the automated stuff to watch my back...
you can call me a nerd all you want, but i only watched the show once or twice. I just remember them as not being that incredibly tall, then 5 seconds on google and i had an answer.
Excuse me for doing some homework before i open my mouth.
Doesn't looke like it was intended to be about a game... but it looks just like one of the enemies in Final Fantasy: Crisis Core (I haven't played it, but it's apparently really good)
Look, if they can do Teleportation TODAY (yes, they actually can) then they can do this...Sure the teleportation is still being worked on for LARGE scale things, but they can do that already...NOt to mention the Invisible SOldiers...
It's not teleportation, it's a system designed to mimic the quantum state of atoms across distances and is for telecommunications. Do a little research on it.
Gundams also defy all things realistic... seriously... Even 08th MS team was horribly unrealistic. (I dont hate MSG, I love the UC. but they just impractical in many aspects.
Today they seem unrealistic. But the boosters were actually very simple to recreate. It's making the moves that you see on the show that makes it "unrealistic." Building a giant suit to do those kind of moves TODAY is impossible. Making one that goes forwards/backwards/left/right/up/down etc. is way easier than you think
I'm talking about even in the far off future. They're also not even close to how a military MS would actually be like. As I said no realisim in it. Mechs are cheaper to produce, and can be just as effective.
Cheaper to produce compared to what? There's no way the military is going to make land vehicles that stand up, it's impractical. They may produce one to show they can but not in mass. If you're in a tank and something knocks you over would you rather be 10 feet off the ground or 100? The closest thing being made are the battlesuits being made for the marines, but those are only a little larger than a person and so impractical that they may scrap the project.
Cheaper compared to a gundam.... Also, walkers are not impractical. We lack the current technology to make use of mechs and power armor. It doesn't mean they're impractical.
a gundam would not be impractical. but the tech needed for a balancing system could never set it up for battle. Think about how a 100 meter tall mech probably wouldn't shoot 50.cal bullets, it would shoot tank or battleship shells...so it has to stay forward to fire. Plus in battle it wouldn't be hard to miss shooting it, so it has to be able to take incoming fire. Any pierce through its armor or damage would have to constantly be calibrated into the balancing and in battle it'll change a lot
Considering most combat now takes place in urban environments, a walker would be much more useful. mechs > Tanks in urban combat. Now why in the world would you mount battleship weapons on a walker... miniguns, small rockets etc etc.
hehe, we're filling this comment page. In urban combat a mech would have a height advantage, but as far as the gap between the legs may not fit in streets. I'd see a jungle environment being well suitable for a mech. if you were to mount vulcan cannons or small rockets then I'm guessing you're not talking about anywhere the size of a gundam. If it were as large as the gundams then what would be the point of the size if it didn't back major firepower. I just don't think today it beats a tank.
Well, mechs are far easier to achieve and more realistic then any Gundam. Because of the way a tank's armor is layed out, they height advantage will also give it access to most tank's weak spots. As well, they are far more manuverable. Jungle too, although if its too muddy it could clog the mechanics.
Imagine a heavily armed vehicle that could peek around corners for a look and then duck back before being fired on. Modern computers and control interfaces would allow a single well trained soldier to operate one of these things like an extension of his body. Imagine a vehicle that could spring up take a few shots at enemy tanks and then duck down below cover before the enemy could return fire. There only real weakness would be small shoulder fired missiles like SMAWs, Dragons, and RPG's.
A perfect weapon. There would be multiple variations of the same design. Some would be armed to attack armored targets like tanks, others would be equiped as close infantry support vehicles with caseless miniguns and M19 automatic grenade launchers. Still others would be configured as scouting vehicles, command units, repair vehicles, and heavy haulers. Imagine infantry that could move on the ground without having to carry munitions and supplies themselves. It would make them much more mobile.
Imagine a force of a 100 such machines moving together. This is the next logical step in armored warfare. These machines could traverse terrain tracked vehecles could never dare. Forest, rocky, hilly, and mountainous terrain could be crossed at speed. Small allyways in urban environments would also be accessible. Imagine these things armed with caseless guns and self guided ballistic munitions as well as missiles.
Don't be silly. The US military is working on such machines right now. Another 10 years and it will be very real. The US military is already killing people with robots. These machines will be manned and replace tracked assault vehicles like tanks.
the milatary robot tells me about the future... in world war 4 or 7, we all will be used for war and so does the milatary robot... :( and who knows the world might come to an end killing each other unless we talk it out.
Cool looking robot, but completely useless in a firefight. It wouldn't be able to accurately shoot a target while moving. Them guns are bouncing up and down with the whole robot.
That's true, it would reduce the bounce. But the thing is, it's also only on two legs. Way too easy to incapacitate in a battle. The way I look at it,all such robots should be based on insects, either hexapedes or octopedes, like spiders.Even if more than one leg gets destroyed, the remaining functioning ones can take over in balancing and moving all the weight. Not to mention that a two-legged robot makes sense only on a flat ground, whereas a spider design, well,it could go just about anywhere.
That is true but if you use a spider like design it would not be able to travel as fast, and the only reason a real life spider can move fast is because it's not a robot. If we made a robot that was like a spider it would either be close to impossible or take almost years to make. My point is anything that can't move fast (besides a tank because a tanks have awesome firepower) is doomed out there.
I'm envious I didn't think of that! =D Sweet lighting! And totally awesome walkcycle. Everyone is complaining about the cannon, well make it do something cool, maybe the thing fires it and then the kickback causes it to do a backflip and kick a couple enemies over in the process ;)
I don't think so, it looks like a recoilless, like a bazooka. It wouldn't be afraid of backblast, I would think recoilless arms or anti-tank missiles would be the way to go with a platform like this. Similar to a helicopter.
did you do that animation yourself it is retty damn cool and scary i can imagine an enemy seeing a group of them coming would be more than a little intimidated :P
You are thinking of Iraq too much. Remember Vietnam. How would wheels get you through the jungle foliage? Legs are the answer. Although 4 legs are the better than 2. Most animals travel on 4 legs. Think of it as millions of years of R and D by Mother Nature.

if this was real it would be super advanced. If you notice when walking, it's head moves but it's guns are parralel, that would take some serious work to get right.
Nice video, perhaps I will upload some of my work also. We both may be robot fans, I sure make a lot of them. Perhaps we could create some in 3ds max to do battle, heheh..

Depends what its control system is now doesn't it?
Also walker like that are never going to happen, the physics of the leg design means the legs would tear themselves apart.

if this were in real life the 2 problems would be how the big cannon on top would reload and what happens if it tips over.

I dont know it seams to me the gun on the top wouldnt be too bad if the robot crouched its body against the ground enough

The, gun is to high, the recoil will flip over this robot, or at least there will be no accuracy

Yes it's Nine Inch Nails remixed by Aphex Twin, the track is called 'At the heart of it all' and it's on the '26 mixes for cash' album.

if this was real it would be super advanced. If you notice when walking, it's head moves but it's guns are parralel, that would take some serious work to get right.

Nice video, perhaps I will upload some of my work also. We both may be robot fans, I sure make a lot of them. Perhaps we could create some in 3ds max to do battle, heheh..
