  • awesome!

  • if this were to become reality... how easy would it be for the enemy to hack into the control system and use it against us! you have to keep that one major flaw in mind

  • @inspiredStudent

Depends what its control system is now doesn't it?

Also walker like that are never going to happen, the physics of the leg design means the legs would tear themselves apart.

  • if this were in real life the 2 problems would be how the big cannon on top would reload and what happens if it tips over.

  • APhex Rocks! Great animation.

  • Darn robots. They're taking all the fun out of war.

  • download?

  • Probably one of the most realistic robots I've seen - it's missing a few bits and pieces that it probably ought to have, but by and large? Freaking awesome.

  • what music is this?

  • I've updated the video description to include the music.

  • @lantosimos Aphex Twin on a NIN record.

  • Where did you get this awesome music?!

  • I've updated the video description to include the music.

  • Very much appreciated

  • really nice, isthere any change we can download it ?? cause i really like it

  • They already took the name predator

wtf do they call this crap?

  • Carefull people - this graphic design could actually become futures reality.

  • wow. amazing. love the concept/design.

  • love the design

  • wtf how does work this gun on his back? this is an one shot mortar?

  • well hey if its a robot it wont miss, with this, def one shot one kill

  • anyway, i think this is not a very good design. with 6 legs it would be much better

  • i like the chicken leg setup. i wanna see that on ed209 from robocop hehe

  • lol i just wanted to remind ya about this movie, when he fell down from the stairs...what part is dat? 2 or 3?

  • in the 1st one lol so funny. clearly hes an outdoor droid

  • yeah, right, 1...my bad :) but if it will lose 1 leg it cant move anymore...so rather 6, + ya can set more weapons, better passability and maneuverability

  • awesome....i wanna work at Lockheed Martin or some other type of engineering company so maybe ill try and make that reality.

  • what soundtrack?

  • This is "At The Heart Of It All" by Nine Inch Nails.

  • Seems like something they'd use on us, there own American citizens.

  • i would name that something like

    The XBA T-REX

    EXperimental Bipedal Armament

    XD

  • I would love to know how you can do an animation like that

  • Chicken with a gun! Aah no arms !

Could be used as the first wave

to stun and soften the targets ...

    nice rendering ..

  • I would love to have one of those as a support vehicle... provided of course that it was actually piloted (even if only by remote) by an actual human being. I don't trust the automated stuff to watch my back...

  • Well which one would ya choose, Automated or piloted by an idiot? :P

But of course, i would go with you and choose piloted :)

  • Piloted by an idiot... because I want to pilot one.

  • XD

I'd go with that too :P

  • Reminds me of a robot the Combine might have in the Half life 2 world.

  • funny how I ended up in this page I was looking for Half Life 2 soundboard

  • Best song ever. Gotta love Nine Inch Nails and Aphex Twin : )

  • skinny puppy music

  • Awesome robot render (only if technology was up to snuff...)!

What do the initials N.E.R.D. mean anyway, I certainly haven't heard of them. Is it bad to be called a Nerd just to do research?

  • you can call me a nerd all you want, but i only watched the show once or twice. I just remember them as not being that incredibly tall, then 5 seconds on google and i had an answer.

Excuse me for doing some homework before i open my mouth.

  • nice work

  • Id like to know where you guys are getting the idea that gundam suits are 100 meters tall... Or even 100 feet.

A gundam is only like 60 ish feet tall. For example, look for the full scale gundam model that someone made... its 59 feet tall.

  • RX78-2 was only 51 feet tall actually, the original gundam.

  • Thats kind of my point lol.

  • the center of gravity looks way too far forward

  • true

  • so what its still cool

  • imagine if they became self aware. then wed have a real JUDGEMENT DAY

  • is this about a game? if it is i would be happy to hear more about it.

  • Doesn't looke like it was intended to be about a game... but it looks just like one of the enemies in Final Fantasy: Crisis Core (I haven't played it, but it's apparently really good)

  • Nice work. Good choice of music too, Aphex Twin, right? Very fitting.

  • Look, if they can do Teleportation TODAY (yes, they actually can) then they can do this...Sure the teleportation is still being worked on for LARGE scale things, but they can do that already...NOt to mention the Invisible SOldiers...

  • It's not teleportation, it's a system designed to mimic the quantum state of atoms across distances and is for telecommunications. Do a little research on it.

  • oh yer if they could teleport dont u think they would just send bombs everywere? wed never have captured people u could just zip them out...

  • we are the new combines and theres our hunters. now they need to make a strider. anyways reply to me whats the name of that song ???

  • is this my future?

  • How did you create the movement? Did you script or program any of the behaviour or is the movement defined by some key points you set?

  • Screw making these for the military. Make Gundams instead! Those kick WAY more ass that that thing ever could lol

  • These actually stand a chance of being made within the next century or so, and being mass produced. Gundams... pfft yeah right.

  • Gundams are WAY better though! If they actually tried to make ONE, don't care if they just make a BALL, America would own in ANY war!

  • Gundams also defy all things realistic... seriously... Even 08th MS team was horribly unrealistic. (I dont hate MSG, I love the UC. but they just impractical in many aspects.

  • Today they seem unrealistic. But the boosters were actually very simple to recreate. It's making the moves that you see on the show that makes it "unrealistic." Building a giant suit to do those kind of moves TODAY is impossible. Making one that goes forwards/backwards/left/right/up/down etc. is way easier than you think

  • I'm talking about even in the far off future. They're also not even close to how a military MS would actually be like. As I said no realisim in it. Mechs are cheaper to produce, and can be just as effective.

  • Cheaper to produce compared to what? There's no way the military is going to make land vehicles that stand up, it's impractical. They may produce one to show they can but not in mass. If you're in a tank and something knocks you over would you rather be 10 feet off the ground or 100? The closest thing being made are the battlesuits being made for the marines, but those are only a little larger than a person and so impractical that they may scrap the project.

  • Cheaper compared to a gundam.... Also, walkers are not impractical. We lack the current technology to make use of mechs and power armor. It doesn't mean they're impractical.

  • a gundam would not be impractical. but the tech needed for a balancing system could never set it up for battle. Think about how a 100 meter tall mech probably wouldn't shoot 50.cal bullets, it would shoot tank or battleship shells...so it has to stay forward to fire. Plus in battle it wouldn't be hard to miss shooting it, so it has to be able to take incoming fire. Any pierce through its armor or damage would have to constantly be calibrated into the balancing and in battle it'll change a lot

  • Considering most combat now takes place in urban environments, a walker would be much more useful. mechs > Tanks in urban combat. Now why in the world would you mount battleship weapons on a walker... miniguns, small rockets etc etc.

  • hehe, we're filling this comment page. In urban combat a mech would have a height advantage, but as far as the gap between the legs may not fit in streets. I'd see a jungle environment being well suitable for a mech. if you were to mount vulcan cannons or small rockets then I'm guessing you're not talking about anywhere the size of a gundam. If it were as large as the gundams then what would be the point of the size if it didn't back major firepower. I just don't think today it beats a tank.

  • Well, mechs are far easier to achieve and more realistic then any Gundam. Because of the way a tank's armor is layed out, they height advantage will also give it access to most tank's weak spots. As well, they are far more manuverable. Jungle too, although if its too muddy it could clog the mechanics.

  • really good compositing in their

  • Great animation, I wish I could animate stuff like that. Great model also, you made the blueprint yourself?

  • this robot is good to defend you from bastards :)) :P

  • looks like a pretty cool mech!

  • Max or Maya??

  • This animation was made with 3D Studio Max, but the techniques involved would work in any 3D software.

  • awesome. i remember seeing the original wlaking animation when it was juts like 3 secs long, now its come quite a ways, and its sweet!

  • just too frikin cool man!!!

  • This reminds me of ED-209 to be honest.

  • look like the t rex but a mush higher fear factor

  • zara - i think of two things when i see this: halo's elites and phantom crash!

KARR - i don't think many people know what phantom crash is.

zara - look it up either in here or google it!

  • YOU HAVE 20 SECONDS TO COMPLY!

  • that is so epic !

  • I think every American should have one!! You know....home defence. :-D

  • I want this :P

  • and then one day they turn on us....

  • Metal Gear...

  • Imagine a heavily armed vehicle that could peek around corners for a look and then duck back before being fired on. Modern computers and control interfaces would allow a single well trained soldier to operate one of these things like an extension of his body. Imagine a vehicle that could spring up take a few shots at enemy tanks and then duck down below cover before the enemy could return fire. There only real weakness would be small shoulder fired missiles like SMAWs, Dragons, and RPG's.

  • Thanks for your comments gurumagoo, lots of interesting ideas there.

  • A perfect weapon. There would be multiple variations of the same design. Some would be armed to attack armored targets like tanks, others would be equiped as close infantry support vehicles with caseless miniguns and M19 automatic grenade launchers. Still others would be configured as scouting vehicles, command units, repair vehicles, and heavy haulers. Imagine infantry that could move on the ground without having to carry munitions and supplies themselves. It would make them much more mobile.

  • Imagine a force of a 100 such machines moving together. This is the next logical step in armored warfare. These machines could traverse terrain tracked vehecles could never dare. Forest, rocky, hilly, and mountainous terrain could be crossed at speed. Small allyways in urban environments would also be accessible. Imagine these things armed with caseless guns and self guided ballistic munitions as well as missiles.

  • imagine does in iraq, insurgent would piss there pants.

  • Very nice!!

  • ah yes... but can it turn?

  • lol maybe if it could move one leg faster than the other.

  • then it might be able to turn. :P

  • Very nice design

  • Don't be silly. The US military is working on such machines right now. Another 10 years and it will be very real. The US military is already killing people with robots. These machines will be manned and replace tracked assault vehicles like tanks.

  • area 51.

thats all i got to say.

  • wat progam please

  • It looks cool, but the running animation is practically impossible to realise without any technological breakthroughs (or, with current technology).

But if a think like this were to appear in a game, I wouldn't care, cuz it looks awesome :P

  • the milatary robot tells me about the future... in world war 4 or 7, we all will be used for war and so does the milatary robot... :( and who knows the world might come to an end killing each other unless we talk it out.

  • Looks a little off balance...

I'll stick with what has actually been created.

I'd also stick with only piloted or remote controlled things...

  • omg what a cool robot too bad dozenth exists in real life :/ dude i give you 5 stars spend them well :)) this robot kick ass i want one too

  • Cool looking robot, but completely useless in a firefight. It wouldn't be able to accurately shoot a target while moving. Them guns are bouncing up and down with the whole robot.

  • off the top of my head , id say you could use free-standing axels.would reduce the bounce.

  • That's true, it would reduce the bounce. But the thing is, it's also only on two legs. Way too easy to incapacitate in a battle. The way I look at it,all such robots should be based on insects, either hexapedes or octopedes, like spiders.Even if more than one leg gets destroyed, the remaining functioning ones can take over in balancing and moving all the weight. Not to mention that a two-legged robot makes sense only on a flat ground, whereas a spider design, well,it could go just about anywhere.

  • it still looks really cool!

  • That is true but if you use a spider like design it would not be able to travel as fast, and the only reason a real life spider can move fast is because it's not a robot. If we made a robot that was like a spider it would either be close to impossible or take almost years to make. My point is anything that can't move fast (besides a tank because a tanks have awesome firepower) is doomed out there.

  • id call it fido

  • why would it run wouldnt wheels be faster

  • well, it would be more fun to step on the enemy than to run it over, right?

  • Feet allow more diverse movements that cannot be realized with wheels. i.e climbing stair etc.

  • i got a name for this device! the chickendroid XD

  • I'm envious I didn't think of that! =D Sweet lighting! And totally awesome walkcycle. Everyone is complaining about the cannon, well make it do something cool, maybe the thing fires it and then the kickback causes it to do a backflip and kick a couple enemies over in the process ;)

  • firing the top canon would cause the thing to be unstable

  • I don't think so, it looks like a recoilless, like a bazooka. It wouldn't be afraid of backblast, I would think recoilless arms or anti-tank missiles would be the way to go with a platform like this. Similar to a helicopter.

  • AND the gun is seperated from the main body, so you got one shot, no obvious reloading device...

  • or its cg, so it doesnt matter :)

great job on the modeling, animation and lighting!

  • That is to cool

  • art is resistance

  • This would be a great ne devolopment in UGV Unmaned ground vhicles

  • That is my dream, to one day be able to build a robotic weapon like this one :D. As soon as I get my PhD ill start working on it! XD

  • Awsome video, i like how you put them in the military photos so they actually look real :P

  • That looks remarkably like one of the Games-Workshop battle titans.

  • how does that cannon even work look at it!

  • This thing is "fierce"! Would definately keep me in line.

  • Can we order 3.000 of them? In ACU color, please.

  • pretty cool :)future Raptor Tanks

  • wtf would be the power source for such a thing is what im wondering

  • Water

  • amen brother stan myers dune buggy with legs and a cannon!! :)

  • did you do that animation yourself it is retty damn cool and scary i can imagine an enemy seeing a group of them coming would be more than a little intimidated :P

  • Look up " metal gear solid 4" and what about 5to 10 years.

  • I would crap my pants for real!

  • And I shall call it ED-309.

  • The music is fucking unbelievable who is that?

  • Aphex Twin: 26 Mixes for Cash

  • can you tell us the exact song?

  • It's on the Nine Inch Nails album Further Down the Spiral

  • At The Heart Of It All, Created By Aphex Twin - Nine Inch Nails

The funny thing is that it has nothing to do with NIN. Richard James (Aphex twin) said that he never even has heard a NIN song.

  • That's a great combo...

  • awsum! glad they extended this vid!

  • then of course i'll have to shoot you for giving it the idea to shoot someone.

  • Metal Gear Solid 4.

  • why would this have legs????

its much more work to engineer, more wasteful of energy and not as terrain capable.

    Wheels are the best solution

  • You are thinking of Iraq too much. Remember Vietnam. How would wheels get you through the jungle foliage? Legs are the answer. Although 4 legs are the better than 2. Most animals travel on 4 legs. Think of it as millions of years of R and D by Mother Nature.

  • actually the reason this has legs is because they can traverse uneven terrain better then wheels

  • This may come sooner than you think if the pentagon gets the idea

    basicly we already have it.....

  • Lol!..I don't think two leg robot are practical in the battle field....but still it was a great video

  • how does this thing turn left and right ... all i can see is it's walking straight

  • wow I liked the parts where they were shown next to real army, looked almost real

But would they be unmanned? Real robots with an own cyber-brain? Then how would they know at who they have to shoot? Or would they be guided from a base far away?

  • its called a chip

  • yeah, as long as the thing is programmed well, it's not going to go iRobot on anyone. That doesn't happen unless you are a moron and make a super advanced learning system so that eventually it may get the idea to shoot somone.

  • music?

  • where can i find this music?

  • i love these things sure a tank is scary but turn the corner and see that thing chase you down would be scarier

machines that look like beasts very cool

  • Seems kind of vulnerable in the back

  • Looks viable

  • I dont know it seams to me the gun on the top wouldnt be too bad if the robot crouched its body against the ground enough

  • The, gun is to high, the recoil will flip over this robot, or at least there will be no accuracy

  • sooo, even though this is totally cool and looks like it would work - how does the top big cannon actually shoot? Its like a big pipe xDD

  • its METAL GEAR REX!!!! nah but seriously this thing looks like a Metal Gear

  • is it nin?

  • Yes it's Nine Inch Nails remixed by Aphex Twin, the track is called 'At the heart of it all' and it's on the '26 mixes for cash' album.

  • the song sounds familiar... what is it?

  • that is totally awsome guys

  • if this was real it would be super advanced. If you notice when walking, it's head moves but it's guns are parralel, that would take some serious work to get right.

  • gr8 animatinon, better than my 2d stickmen (lol)

  • is a good animations

  • Nice video, perhaps I will upload some of my work also. We both may be robot fans, I sure make a lot of them. Perhaps we could create some in 3ds max to do battle, heheh..
