@sSynesthesiaX I have an Aunt that conceived 3 years after a TUBAL LIGATION, in other words getting her tubes tied. Contraception isn't 100% effective, not even Tubal Ligation or a Vasectomy.
I also have another Aunt that has 3 kids. She was on the Pill for the first, The Patch for the 2nd and then got pregnant using an IUD and a condom with spermicide. There is no 100% form of contraception yet.
And as for teens, how do they know how they get pregnant, if they're not told how?

I'm self-employed, so I pay the full insurance rate, instead of a group rate. A lot of places of work, don't even provide insurance and in some cases only contraceptive pills are covered and some people can't take them at the same time everyday, where they would be most effective.

@VardoBeatbox I wouldn't worry about it. only 3 days past... thats not uncommon. while it is technically POSSIBLE for her to be pregnant, its unlikely. and throwing up isn't the only symptom. if her boobs are sore and she's having cravings and can't stay up past 10 even if she tried, and gaining weight, THEN i'd be worried. if she goes another 4 days without a period, get a pregnancy test. (they're under 10 bucks).

@RightfullyReticent if ur periods have started recently then it takes a couple of years to get regular, no need to worry. if it has been many yrs you can get an ultra sound of ur pelvis done to check for any cysts in ur ovaries but that isnt the only test there are a variety of other tests to confirm PCOS and it usually doesnt require any treatment unless u r unable to conceive or having extremely irregular cycles...many women have PCOS its not something to worry too much about. hope it helps

@sSynesthesiaX I have an Aunt that conceived 3 years after a TUBAL LIGATION, in other words getting her tubes tied. Contraception isn't 100% effective, not even Tubal Ligation or a Vasectomy.
I also have another Aunt that has 3 kids. She was on the Pill for the first, The Patch for the 2nd and then got pregnant using an IUD and a condom with spermicide. There is no 100% form of contraception yet.
And as for teens, how do they know how they get pregnant, if they're not told how?

They spell it pregnat or pregnate or pregnunt, because schools don't teach them, my high school 10 years ago, didn't teach me how you got pregnant, how to prevent pregnancy, not even abstinence, nothing. And if you want to call me a liar on that, provide me the Shawnee High School in Springfield, Ohio 1999 Health Curriculum. I didn't learn until 17 years old.

@sSynesthesiaX Since the PP rate for a routine check up including pap smear is usually 90.00. My concern is how are low income women who don't have insurance, I don't can't afford it. I'm self-employed, so I pay the full insurance rate, instead of a group rate. A lot of places of work, don't even provide insurance and in some cases only contraceptive pills are covered and some people can't take them at the same time everyday, where they would be most effective.

My family was even prudish about my period and handed me a book just about my period and other development associated with puberty and were sure to tell me that I couldn't use tampons before I was married, because otherwise, I was a slut.

@VardoBeatbox I wouldn't worry about it. only 3 days past... thats not uncommon. while it is technically POSSIBLE for her to be pregnant, its unlikely. and throwing up isn't the only symptom. if her boobs are sore and she's having cravings and can't stay up past 10 even if she tried, and gaining weight, THEN i'd be worried. if she goes another 4 days without a period, get a pregnancy test. (they're under 10 bucks).

I have been having some of these symptoms, including late period. My friend who was an obgyn assistant for some time told me to wait a few more days to test, but this back up information has me even more curious about how the test will result. So stay calm, and take a pregnancy test after two weeks and check your results. I tell you this because me and my gf were in the same position before. She and i (mainly her) complained and stressed out for about a month and a half and then she had her period. Yes she skipped a month which totally got her scared.

@RightfullyReticent if ur periods have started recently then it takes a couple of years to get regular, no need to worry. if it has been many yrs you can get an ultra sound of ur pelvis done to check for any cysts in ur ovaries but that isnt the only test there are a variety of other tests to confirm PCOS and it usually doesnt require any treatment unless u r unable to conceive or having extremely irregular cycles...many women have PCOS its not something to worry too much about. hope it helps
