na doesnt go away, im the same with you. only way is to improve it, but you cant fully get rid of it. watch videos of him nowadays, cant even tell he stammers/stutters
I totally empathize with him....I have a stammer too...it`s so fustrating just trying to speak......I wish people understood how horrible it is....=/ *HUGS GARETH*
what an inspirational young man. as a fellow stammerer i think he is an inspiration us all. check out his appearance on jonathan ross its on youtube to see how far he has progressed
this guy has just given this 21 year old stammerer the inspiration to not give up on the fight against his own mind screwing up his world.
People who have normal speech don't know wat its like to hold urself back, even when u know what u wanna say is the right thing, only because u'r afraid to make a fool of urself...
there are more ways of being righteously successful...
yo, can someone help me, i have a stutter, because of i truma i had 2 years ago and ive hide it for 2 years from everyone because i just cant tell anyone and i need some advice
In the first place, you should talk to your GP, especially if you think your problem stems from a specific event. However, if you want to learn more about the scheme Gareth is on, go to their website, mcguireprogramme dot com (it doesn't let you post actual urls on here)
I am a stammerer but mine has the unfortunate habit of being linked to aggression and and the fear of certain situations, it is harder than having a severe stammer because it suprises people that all of a sudden i can go from being a fluent speaker to then sounding like a broken record. Gareth has been inspiring to me and i am going to wigan on the 21st to the mcguire program and hopefully i can be able to speak on the phone and in pressurised situations.
Its called a mental block - you know what you want to say but your brain will not allow your mouth to say the words. hence you are tryig to force the words out.
I've stammered all my life, but sometimes I win, and sometimes the stammer wins.
happy 7117. he is using a technique called costal breathing. recovering stammerers use this as we spoke from the wrong part of our diaphragm. this technique puts us in more control of the way we speak!!
I suppose I should be grateful they didn't have something more tragic to make a Trevor McDonald show about. This is the sort of thing they show on "This Morning," not a news/documentary show! Ugh I hate they way us Brits take reality TV way too seriously.
Trevor McDonald isn't reality tv! In this case, it is exploring the implications of dealing with a disability within the public spotlight and perfectly in keeping with the nature of the Tonight with Trevor McDonald series. Maybe you think all documentaries should be about dead people and wars, but it's not just housewives who take an interest in modern society and current affairs!
This was hard to watch, but as has been said earlier Gareth has come a long way since then, he spoke to his audience fluently and even told jokes at Wembley on His "Go your own way" tour. It was so uplifting for his fans to witness the difference that the Maguire programme had made.He was so confident like a different person.
Gareth has come so far since then. He's going to lead one of those courses later this week! For more information about it all go to http://garethpaulgates.net/mcguire1.html
you have to be patient when you talk to people who stutter

Admire him putting himself through something so obviously difficult. Easier to sit at home and take the piss out of him on youtube.
