I was the Art Director on this bizarre video. I didn't understand it when we were making it and it makes even less sense now. It was an honor to work with the Ramones but the production of this video was damn near the end of me. It was a treat to see such a weird artifact of my past (I had never seen the finished product until now)
@JoeyRamonerulz Why would I lie about something like that? The director was this guy named Tom Rainone (Production company was Rain One) A bit of fun Trivia, the big scary fat guy with the marionette was actually the DP of the video. It is not listed on my IMDb (I left the film industry in 1998) but... for better or worse, this was one of my shows
Tom Grieve (Jeep w/ .50cal), you are my favorite Texas Ranger...next to Josh Hamilton and Nolan Ryan w/ Elvis Andrus a close 4th. Thank you for making watching our Rangers on FoxSports Southwest (and chan 21 Fridays) so informative and satisfying. You are a true professional both on and off the field. BTW, glad your epic music video career was shortlived since we get to have you in the broadcast booth. Keep up the good work; know you will since it is what you do! Nat, Stephenville, Texas.
lol haircut999 you're a dork. The ramones obviously went over your head, and the passing years haven't educated you. But hey, that's alright, I'm sure there's plenty of what ever pablum you wish to listen to elsewhere.
@haircut999 I think you're over looking the fact they are paying their respects to one of most influential band to the Punk genre of all time, The Who. I love the original, but to each their own when it comes to covers. I understand where you stand though.
Tom Grieve - former major league baseball player man - former Texas Rangers manager - current Rangers TV color analyst, appears at the end as the jeep machine gunner. He knew the producer who would ask friends to be in his videos. He was recently inducted into the Rangers hall of fame, and this song was played as he was driven around the ballpark. It was a great inside joke for those who know about this video. Everyone else was left scratching their heads. Brilliant!
This vid rocks! thank you so much for uploading. Vevo took the hilarious ending away probably for being violent. Pffft. Stupid. They alow ganster rap bullshit.
Anywyas I love the video. A fat bald carny it doesnt get any better HAHAAH and Joey at 4:35.
@BluntObject1234 If I have my facts straight; when this video was released, the BBC prohibited showing violence with guns, so the ending was edited for broadcast in England.
I'm Tuck John Porter, the best damn sewer in Los Angeles, and was the Costume Designer for this splendid cult hit video. Nicholas Worth from Clint Eastwood's 'Heartbreak Ridge' movie can verify me. Thanks 4 the upload!
The machine gunner who appears at 3:59 is Tom Grieve, former MLB player and Texas Ranger GM. He is a friend of the producer. The shoot-out and flaming gingerbread man do not appear in some of the other posted "Substitute" clips
Hey, is that the bass player for White Zombie?

Lame cover of a great song--an old, old story.
I didn't need the Ramones back in the day, and I don't need them now. Some things never change.

@Bluesub6 Why go on a video, Insult the Band and then not think your going to get anything in return.
PS: you shouldn't use naughty words on Youtube, your Mummy might find out.

Para mim o acid eaters é o melhor
cover que uma banda ja fez tendo
musicas como my back pages do Bob
Dylan, out of time do Rolling Stones
entre outras, isso mostra que o Ramones
não foi uma banda qualquer mais sim
um símbolo do rock do punk...
