I think Libertarians & Anarchists, especially of the Market nature, should infiltrate BOTH the Republican and the Democrat parties. That way once inside, we can influence them both towards the Libertarian/Minarchist/Anarchist ways of thinking, but if you come from the left you can get more involved in the Libertarian Democrats and vice versa. Then once we take over, we can then begin to eliminate the government piece by piece. That way which ever side won the election it would still be us.

Just get into office, under whatever party name you have to call yourself to do it, then start doing your job the way it's suppossed to be done, in spite of whatever party you belong to.
It does matter because the philosophies are distinct, and divided by culture. More importantly, the nature of the U.S. political system essentially makes our two party system more viable than a free-for-all system, or even a three party system.
These parties may serve a role as contrarians, but their political sustainability is highly unlikely, even under the best of circumstances.
You can wish away partisanship all you want, but when it comes down to issues, partisanship matters a lot.

Yes, a newsletter signed, and printed as if it was written by Ron Paul included racist statements that he claims were not his.
Regardless of whether or not he wrote them, he wanted to give the impression that he wrote them. More importantly, it demonstrates that Ron Paul has no business being in his ideas to ghost writers. Religious fundamentalists make up at most 5-10% of the population. The reason they have pulled so much clout in the Republican party is that they have dominated the primaries with greater intensity. Mike Huckabee was the one true Religious Right Republican in 2008 and look how his campaign did. Not so well outside of Iowa. There is a grassroots rebellion in the Republican party based on economics and having nothing to do with social issues. Example: Rand Paul 44%, Trey Greyson 25%

The plan makes sense, since this is how I vote anyway. If there's a qualified Republican like Ron Paul running, I'll vote for him. If the Republican candidate is a worthless Neo-Con, I'll vote Libertarian.

I think Libertarians & Anarchists, especially of the Market nature, should infiltrate BOTH the Republican and the Democrat parties. That way once inside, we can influence them both towards the Libertarian/Minarchist/Anarchist ways of thinking, but if you come from the left you can get more involved in the Libertarian Democrats and vice versa. Then once we take over, we can then begin to eliminate the government piece by piece. That way which ever side won the election it would still be us.

It does matter because the philosophies are distinct, and divided by culture. More importantly, the nature of the U.S. political system essentially makes our two party system more viable than a free-for-all system, or even a three party system.
These parties may serve a role as contrarians, but their political sustainability is highly unlikely, even under the best of circumstances.
You can wish away partisanship all you want, but when it comes down to issues, partisanship matters a lot.

Religious fundamentalists make up at most 5-10% of the population. The reason they have pulled so much clout in the Republican party is that they have dominated the primaries with greater intensity. Mike Huckabee was the one true Religious Right Republican in 2008 and look how his campaign did. Not so well outside of Iowa. There is a grassroots rebellion in the Republican party based on economics and having nothing to do with social issues. Example: Rand Paul 44%, Trey Greyson 25%

Well the Libertarian Party was really made to get agree with Dems on Social issues and Republicans on Economic issues. On Foreign Policy they kinda go there own way. Yet I can't believe Democrats call themselves pro-freedom. With the income taxes and gun restrictions.

I've just lost all respect for Peter Schiff. He's trying to co-opt libertarians into joining the Republican party. There seems to be this belief that libertarians take votes away from Republicans because there exist A FEW Republicans with libertarian leanings. The Republican party must change its policies first before they start asking libertarians to jump back on their bandwagon.

You're looking at this totally the wrong way... you talk as if Libertarians would have to sell out to gain access to the GOP and that the GOP has these set principles and are in this position of strength... the truth is the GOP is lost, it has no convictions and that's why the parties are so similar now... there use to be a time when Republicans stood for less gov't, hardly the case now. He saying that libertarians need to take up that old GOP mantle a use it to take back the gov't.

One could argue the Libertarian Party is corrupted, since it nominated a big-government pervert called Bob Barr. As for the Libertarian Wing of the Republican Party, we're doing rather sucessful. Look how many Republicans became sympathetic towards Libertarian ideas when Ron Paul ran. What proof is there that the Libertarian Party is magically less corruptable than the GOP? Voters control the outcome. And the Libertarian Party I do feel will serve some use in the future. But right now the best thing to do is infiltrate the GOP, get our guys in the Presidential debates. Most people don't know what a Libertarian is, or are hostile to Libertarian ideas. May be if a few Lib-leaning Repubs would educate the base of the party, then we would win people over to our ideology.
And the LP in CT is not 'idiotic,' it's promoting an ideology NOT a party.

Schiff is absolutely right. Of course there's going to be resistance, but not as much as resistance as the average voter right now has for the independent ticket. The American people aren't ready for a 3rd party. libertarianism was birthed from the republican party and its values. It's only natural to have libertarianism become the voice of the republican party once again. Libertarians need to reclaim their rightful place in the republican party and kick out all the neocons.

This is an example of how you nuts frame your answers. Obama received more campagin contributions than any candidate ever. He got more than one-million people to donate $25-dollars or less.
This country is in a economic crisis so who would you have him hire? He's not going to hire Ron Paul nuts whom don't know anything about how to run an economy.

Politically, look at the recession of 1921.
Look at the recession today that was in Germany.
The other day, Germany announced they are officially out of the recession... Why? almost no government intervention.

2nd. I'm not going to get into the break down of what was done but I will tell you, there were stimulus's but for the people, no bailouts. Rates were not lowered, i don't know where you saw that.
3rd. Schiff actually has proven himself numerous times, as if you haven't seen any of his videos?
Finally, There is history. I mentioned 1921 recession, Look at what made the Great Depression so great. Look at the major recessions in the U.S

You can't have it both ways. Schiff says government spending is bad but that's how they got out of recession.

It wasn't spending compared to what the U.S. spent. I don't know the exact details but it was done to help certain people who lost savings during the time. You can't compare the Euro to the Dollar in that respect.
2nd. Once again, i never said I was a Libertarian or anything, I'm talking to you in logical terms.
3rd. Govt. intervention in the MARKET PLACE is not the people, learn the difference.

do research on these people like tim geitner and larry summers.these people were partly responsible for dismantling banking regulations which would have prevented these ponzi schemes from occuring. his admin is excellerating the spending to the point where the debt is becomming unsustainable and even obama admits that. Yes, I am also a Libertarian registered Republican...thanks to Ron Paul.
The plan makes sense, since this is how I vote anyway. If there's a qualified Republican like Ron Paul running, I'll vote for him. If the Republican candidate is a worthless Neo-Con, I'll vote Libertarian.
We can't beat them due to the two-party system. We must infiltritate the Republican Party and make Libertarian principles the Republican Principles. Their party is a joke now anyway!
