  • "Lookin back, oooover my solder....."

  • wat are the little rectangle thing on the bottom the cpu called

  • bake that shit in the oven

  • LOL SOLDER FAIL :)

maybe they fixed it in newer versions(2008+)?

  • is there a way for me to re-solder my board at home?

  • does ne buddy know which is the temp resister, i suspect that the solder melts off this resister at 140F and causes rrod ,thats why some came be recoverd others 360 are toasted, the backwards grounding,i need scematic of the board

  • hey, my xbox 360 motherboard solder went hole so i can re solder them but i need know waht kind metal to melt?

  • Comment removed

  • yeah ms is cheap they want to make it as cheap as possible and sell it for more than its worth ! Most people mod their 360s or fix their 360s cuz microsoft is too cheap to fix it them selves !

  • @Superjumpmaster

actually at the start microsoft were selling the 360 for less than they were producing them for, they would make most of their profit from accesories and games...

  • @Superjumpmaster Lol. I don't see how using some higher quality solder could impact the cost. Sure maybe by a few cents, but It would impact customer satisfaction.

  • The surface mount components with black bands have an R which will be a resistor and the larger components with a brown band have a C next to them. These will be capacitors. Hope you can find out what the values should be.

  • in the video you see those little brown rectangular shapes with brown across the middle... what are those?! resistors? i need to know cuz i broke a couple of those taking mosfets off my motherboard...

  • I love modding Xbox 360's but micrsoft really need to get their act together when they release their next console. If they break down as much as the 360's, they won't hear the end of it.

Its a shame because its took them nearly 3/4 years to sort out the problems with the console and it shows you how badly tested and rushed out it was. Its the best next gen console on the market for games, but they did lose alot of customers due to faulty machines. Most of these customers are now ps3 gamers

  • id say most of their sales are from people re buying the console. 505 of the people i know had re bought an xbox because it broke

  • arent you the popular one.

  • oh its ridiculous. i must have like seven friends and almost two of them have authuritis

  • @IANBUFFTON 505 people you know own xbox's???? Do they all work for Microsoft?

  • @RussianCause7 ha sorry i was mildly intoxicated when i did that. WOW that was 7 months ago

  • usually the system that sells the most has problems look at the PS2 and look how many problems they had

  • OK i'm going to disagree with you on that. As i've had my ps2 since 2002 and It still works plus no faulty's have occured

  • My PS2's laser eye stopped working properly.

Also it crashed randomly after 3½ years of use.

  • Well mine still works fine. Maybe it has to do with the fact that I took the cover off it so no dust get traped inside the system which could course the lazer not to function properly.

  • I had mine since 2002 too. I had to clean the eye a couple times. The last time I cleaned it, about 4 months ago, I dropped the top of the case and ripped the power button off..RIP giant Ps2.

  • the only problem with the ps2 is the dust builds up in the system and disk tray and sometimes the laser pipe gets dry so you upen the ps2 up and clean it then put some grease on the laser pipe so it moves easyer there thats the reason and its REALLy easy to fix ive watched my dad fix around 6 you see im 13 i can fix them to! you try if yours breaks although its not just the dust problem which can happen :(

  • LOL, what problems? well at least my ps2 was solid. i got that the first year and it's still solid

  • My SNES still works fine...

  • Watch Out! Fanboy below!

  • sorry for my english.

yeah i have full RROD too, 0103, 0020, 0021 and i see too "holes" in solder. my Xbox work about 10mounth and i dont play 12hours day(abt 1-3). my xbox lay horizontally, and it has not been forced by anything with a side or from above. there was a normal use. Today has bought different things for repair. If it will turn out I will make the report.

Really bad cooling, and the soldering! this is buisnes of MS.

  • my Xbox 360 lasted 14 months and i played more than 6 hours each day, on average

  • the main problem are those cheap ass solder joints, if you dont want RROD, you have to reball GPU and CPU.

  • Exactly. Microsoft 360's were rushed.

OF COURSE the PS3 is better, DUH? Why do you think PS3 waited for the 360? So PS3 could make there system better

  • No, Microsoft planned on releasing the 360 before PS3 so they would make more money.

  • is there A VID SHOWING HOW TO REMOVE A MOTHERBOARD

  • first i did the towel trick just to get it back then opened it got this big fan put it to blow air to it and everything is perfect got my console open with my big never overheats its been going for a year so screw ms its better to do it your self dont even have to waist money buying things just put a big fan pointing to the xbox 360 and bingo there you go and i play atleast 1o hours daily never had a promblem yet

  • dont be sending it to microsoft they keep fucking things up paid twice for the same thing lot of money lost they didnt even fix it they send me another already used how do i know i made a dam mark on the xbox 360 without opening it and when it came back of course three weeks back it wasnt even mine ok i stayed with it keot playinf for 2 months same shit happened again 3 dam red light i called to ms they told me had to send more money to repair it screw them i just opened it

  • ok let me tell u people with overheating problems somehthing.when ur 360 doesnt have enough space air cant flow good and the process of heat wave molecules heat up the 360 when not in enough room...

i hava a 360 elite and nothing has happened to it so far..and if it does i have a 3 year extended warranty from the store and another 3 from MS.....ur 360 will not freeze, heat up,etc..if it has enough room

  • i bought my 360 for abt a year now n its okay.....will it die any sooner???hope not

  • Actually....you cant send it back to Microsoft, you've just voided the warranty by opening it. =p

  • LMAO

  • im just now learning about soldering. last night my 360 had the 3 red lights and im devistated... i cant send it to m$ bcuz i took the silver sticker off ACCIDENTALLY.

im thinking of repairing my 360 by doing this soldering stuff. NOT A PROFFESIONAL but im sure i can learn how to do this.

IF ANY 1 knows ANY good tips to give on how to fix the solder id appreciate it. and if i could buy anything or whatever lol

  • right now, i'm trying to resurrect my 360 that was dead for half a year now or just 3-4 months...still... i'm hoping that the stuff i did today works today...i'll comment back if anything happens...

  • sweet, aright then

  • heres a tip while doing it....DONT FUCK UP!

  • Fuck M$. My 360 died today and i dont want to send mine in and get someone elses fixed system.

  • bonzo pl>google>xboxonline>hardware

    NO PROBLEMOS

  • I'm scared... This is impossibly bad...

  • Wow, how have they gotten away with that. I think my grandma could do better soldering than that lol

  • omg

i have a better soldering finish with only my hands xD

poor MS, and they said 100% of xbox where defective.....thats a mean number, i recomend everyone to heat their 360 so they can get the ring of fire, and get it repaired by MS bc if that happends before the 3 year, youre screwed

  • wow such a bad qualaty

  • maybe it's just the one you got? The one I got works fine. (took it apart to put a mini-cooler inside)... Hmm. Defect mebe. :P

  • M$ have finally admitted that the prob with xbox360's is bigger than they thought are to offer to give 3 year guarantees and pay for repairs inc postage to some (?) buyers. Estimates are about a billion $ to save face with their customers.

    news(dot)bbc(dot)co(dot)uk(slash)1(slash)hi(slash)business(slash)6275728(dot)stm

Good luck to all those with faulty boxes.

  • This video was made to show engineers and Microsoft what a poor soldering job the xbox 360 has, so please don't worry if you don't understand...it wasn't meant for you.

  • Huh? And please, what is so bad in this Motherboard shown here? I just don't see it...

  • right, the gold circles you see are warped connectors. this is caused by bad soldering and the xbox emitting a lot of heat during operation. when these connectors are broken due to heat, the CPU and other vital componants cannot talk to each other, causing the BIOS or CPU to think theres a serious fault, hence the 3 red lights.

  • i don't get it!!???????
