Yeah, I can't even get the picture to work properly, it stalls then whizzes thru to the last third of the vid. It's a pity cos it's a great little ditty, I recently got the dvd 'Imaginary Kingdom' and it's excellent. Please 'musich3ad' could you reload and fire again?
It was Tim that we off to do a solo album on the cusp of Split Enz greatness in the early 80's it was also tim that drove off phil and had his brother join..
anyway, I also enjoy tims albums. I think he is up to eight now.
Outstanding vid. I was at the world premiere of Imaginary Kingdom. It was an amazing concert! Even though it was a seated venue - Tim is such an extraordinary performer, and a genius writer - every song on the album is a cracker! Everyone there got a signed copy too ;)
I agree with the comparisons to Lennon, McCartney and especially Harrison. This song exudes George Harrison-esque positivity, and dare I say that there are many songs by the Fiin Brothers that top many Beatles songs. I also agree with the person who said McCartney is too simplistic. He's not as honest a songwriter as Neil and Tim Finn. Especially when both brothers work together. There's some songs on their "Everyone is Here" album that even trump some of Lennon's best stuff.
"Cloudbusterman," What the hell are you talking about? Listen to the words. They're applicable to whatever you want them to be. Evidentally you're one of those overly-literal types who has no imagination and must have everything explained to him. The song is about acheiving your goals and conquering fears in the face of impossibilities. What the hell do the Judaists and fundamentalism have to do with anything???
What an uninspirational twit you must be. I think just the film clip, the era of the clothing. It's just a bloody song and by the most talented man. get a life and just smell the roses and enjoy it for what it is and the great fun film clip !!

They had no idea "what" couldn't be done? Apparently, they want the Judaists to purge fundamentalism/ literalism first, not least because a famous person described exactly how to do it without much trouble. Good luck. Or something.
split enz and the Finn brothers are tops. Great music and keep it coming lads. Thanks for so memories from the 1980s and still pumping! Real musicians that write thier own and play an instrument from little New Zealand. Keep it going Finn brothers! so many love you in Aussie and NZ and the world!
I actually think that Neil Finn is a better songwriter/lyricist than Paul McCartney. To me, Paul's lyrics are a bit too simplistic. I know what word he's used to rhyme with another before he's sung it. Too predictable and childish. However, having said that, Paul's a genius at melody.
PS: Since this is Tim's video I must comment on Tim. I love him! He's way too underrated in the U.S. I wish people here would catch on to him and show him the love and give him the props that he deserves.
Yes...there is a difference between 1902 and 1995.
1995 and 2006 is too little. The song was good, nice simple message, but NZ radio thrashed the hell out of it. 6months in a leaky boat is an interesting clip. It is not about pioneers as the video states. It is based on a bout of depression Neil Finn was experiencing.
"Tonight Tonight" was an homage to/ripoff of (choose whichever you'd like) the 1902 Méliès film _Le Voyage dans la lune_ (available right here on YouTube). See for yourself.
He's 59 and I would still totally go there. Babe!

The video is very cute. Why is it that he seems to shine especially when doing these nautical-themed videos?

Don't know about Tim being Lennon, this sounds like a lost track from a '70's Harrison album - 'Crackerbox Palace' meets 'Give Me Love'.

Tim makes my heart skip a beat. Neil makes my heart beat faster.
Tim is like Lennon, Neil is like McCartney.
You have to decide on your own which one you like better...

Yeah, McCartney's genius was in writing the music, that's why he and Lennon worked so so well together...

@pongracic I dont think so my firend your entitled to your opinion though. Paul is amongst peer well maybe john lennon too.

Tim Finn was the one that had depression.
Not Neil.
And what makes you so genius anyway? Tim is a LEGEND, and whether or not the video clip is a "rip-off" we can all agree it's awesome anyway.
