@Gabriel: King James translators justified the creation of their translations by saying, (paraphrase) "the use of many translations is good for the understanding of scripture". So, as John once said, if you're King James only, you love many translations!

I am a student of foreign languages. A perfect translation of such a large, complex manuscript as the Bible is almost impossible. Leaning on the KJ only is just as bad as being Message only. Both are helpful, neither are authoritative.

Srsly, though, if you have to try and be more weird, more offensive, more un-religious, you've missed the boat. The Kingdom is weird enough on it's own, the Gospel is offensive enough on it's own, and Jesus is un-religious enough on His own. God doesn't need our help :D

I love this guys message, it IS the Gospel! But can anyone explain to me the justification of acting out sniffing coke lines on the bible, or pretending to literally drink the Holy Spirit from a cup as if He was alcohol... I get drink on the Spirit, i love it, God allows us to enjoy Him with our emotions... but enjoying Him with the actions and symbols of tools of sin (drugs/alcohol) i have a problem with. Blessed be His Name!

Kids go outside and pretend to kill one another with their hands mimicking guns all of the time. Killing someone intentionally in cold blood is obviously a sin, but are the kids really using symbols of tools of sin?

I think that there is genuinely an innocence in the actions of John, and it is only to reveal how we are suppose to be with God (not necessarily exactly copying him, but childlike and fun!)

i don't think that is a proper analogy to use, though i understand what you're saying.

Lets say i was playing tag with some friend, which were jewish, and i dressed as a nazi... I think this is closer to the point i'm making. I think with children, there is an instinctive need to protect and defend, that is God given. But to do drugs, i don't think that could ever be sanctified. shooting up with the Holy Ghost? i don't know about that. but i'm all up for being like a child with God.

The message translation is not the Bible or a Bible, it is a very loose paraphrase. do not use translations to justify your beliefs. The KJ says nothing about drinking the Spirit but being filled and speaking in the Spirit, not even figuratively drinking...
