sorry its not against islam to have dog, however thy are neejas(impurity). if u touch a wet dog or their saliva, touches u thn u have to wash ur self before u can pray again. bt salman khan commits shirk so why does a dog matter. majority of khan's do. however i like him as an actor and his personality is way better then the other stars in bollywood. may allah lead him to the straight path amiin.

haha good one. yes it is haram whn u say as pet, for the obvious reason i said on my previous comment. there is no need to keep dogs as pet in ur houses as thy are neejas. but u can have a dog as guard, as shepherd etc. and is not haram to keep a dog if u caring for it either, but as long as u dont let them in ur homes or anywhere u pray in, and also keeping in mind that u will have to wash urself everytime u touch a wet dog or their saliva touches u.
