Bayonne was mentioned on The Three Stooges and on Rocky and Bullwinkle by Boris and Natasha. Of course, The Sopranos was filmed in Bayonne, too. Bayonne was the butt of many jokes.
I was born on George St. Downtown. Loved all my family and friends. Lots to play army and stickball with. Got old super 8 movies I have to put on a DVD.
Circa 1960 there was a satirical weekly news show "That Was The Week That Was."In one particular show the "news" was that NASA had launched a rocket which had problems and landed in Bayonne New Jersey. The astronauts exited the craft and determined that "life as we know it cannot exist there."
@LindaAnn1129 Grew up in "The Land of Enchantment" myself. 29th street. Great place. Miss it a lot. Go on Broadway---I don't think there are 2 stores left from when I was a kid. Would love to "Cruise the 'Venue" again.
If you really want to get with Bayonne, get the book "How to Speak Bayonnease" buy at Barnes and Noble.com, Amazon.com, Xlibris.com, etc. Lots of funny shit to read!!!
Does anybody have an photos of the Crystal Palace on Broadway in the early 60's??

Let's not forget "Hysterical Blindness" (Uma Thurman, Juliet Lewis) set in Bayonne, filmed there, Belleville and assorted other places.

I love and miss Bayonne. I lived on Newman Ave as a toddler then on Kennedy Blvd and Evergreen street. Greatest town in the nation!

Reminds me of a joke I once heard..."My girlfriend told me to kiss her where it's wet and smelly...so I took her to Bayonne." LOL!
