Dude.... 2moons, silkroad, 9dragons, cabal online..... The list is endless. And they are still updating and patching their game cuz they have enormous player base... How do they make money? Cash shop!!!! 80% of high lvls in these mmos use cash shops (Even I use it in 2moons).

They also sell temporary buffs and other stuff. This would perhaps bring in alot of new players, which means more money... So, how was this game? Was it skill based or stat based? Was it PvE or PvP focused?
Those games are also designed, from the ground up, to be manageable with that sort of profit model. This game was designed specifically to be subscription based, and implementing a system of microtransactions would not only have outraged the community but also broken key components of the game.
TR was pretty fun if you had a group of friends to play it with. You could PvP a little, but PvE with a team was the focus.
A good example is Dungeons & Dragons Online. The creators conffirmed that now they gain much more than when the game was P2P.
It's a shame that Tabula Rasa didn't got F2P. Now that I see those videos, my desire to play this game just increases! In my opinion, it was the best futurist MMORPG out there! (*_*)

You run up HUGE debts designing a game (100+ coders x $100k per year x 3 years = $30 million+) and if you can't keep up with debt repayments to the bank then your company is bankrupt. And debts get paid first, before servers.
They needed more customers on board sooner, even if it costs more in servers.

It was a really fun game, but its major flaw was in the fact that you could solo most everything, and when you actually needed a squad of players it was balls hard to find one.
WoW had big marketing, LOTRO has the name, WAR has the name, AoC had marketing. GW had advertising to pay for it, TR was a monthly sub (like WoW/LOTRO/WAR/AoC) but it didn't have enough advertising, it wasn't well known at all and it's player base just died.

There are world maps, similar to WoW, in which everyone shares the same world, and within those maps there are instances, in which the game loads your own, private mission map for you and your squad.
Most missions take place on the main, shared map, however the tougher, and more rewarding missions take place within instances, in which there is no backup.
Do many people actually play this, because from what i've heard there's hardly any people playing and I really wana play but I don't wanna be playing an offline MMORPG XD I want people!

Ugh.. is it just me, or do you too have the little jump every 3 seconds while running in this game? It'll do like a quick half-second skip all the time as long as you're moving.. hard to tell from the youtube vid, but by the looks of it you do. What the hell is that? I know it can't be my computer because I was able to play Medal of Honor airborne on decent settings without lag.. and LOTRO with all settings maxed. I even tried putting the game on the lowest settings and it still did it..
The electric rifle is simply an elemental variation of the standard rifle. All weapons come in several varieties, from normal ballistics to flamethrowing grenade launching staff weapons.
All weapons require ammunition, aside from the Sword used by the Spy profession and the Staff used by the Guardian profession. Ammunition is bought from vendors around the world at varying prices and qualities.
I like the game personally. It's good for those of us who want to jump in quick and get out clean.

Tabula Rasa as it was had 100% of its playerbase giving them $15 every month and they still could not afford to keep the servers running.
How could adding a ton of players (i.e. bandwidth use) and taking in a fraction of the profit they did before possibly help?
They ran out of money. Taking less money cannot help them.

Yes. There are two close-quarters classes, spies with swords and guardians which use what amounts to a Stargate Staff Weapon.

You do not lose any levels or experience when you die. The only penalty is about 10% condition off of all of the equipment you were wearing.

There are world maps, similar to WoW, in which everyone shares the same world, and within those maps there are instances, in which the game loads your own, private mission map for you and your squad.
Most missions take place on the main, shared map, however the tougher, and more rewarding missions take place within instances, in which there is no backup.

Ugh.. is it just me, or do you too have the little jump every 3 seconds while running in this game? It'll do like a quick half-second skip all the time as long as you're moving.. hard to tell from the youtube vid, but by the looks of it you do. What the hell is that? I know it can't be my computer because I was able to play Medal of Honor airborne on decent settings without lag.. and LOTRO with all settings maxed. I even tried putting the game on the lowest settings and it still did it..

The electric rifle is simply an elemental variation of the standard rifle. All weapons come in several varieties, from normal ballistics to flamethrowing grenade launching staff weapons.
All weapons require ammunition, aside from the Sword used by the Spy profession and the Staff used by the Guardian profession. Ammunition is bought from vendors around the world at varying prices and qualities.
I like the game personally. It's good for those of us who want to jump in quick and get out clean.
