@QuantumGh0st It's not Joe. It's the guy that posted the video. He posted it under Joe Satriani's name just so he would get more views. Sad, isn't it?
@turnbacktime How is this garbage? I love Hendrix but this is more technical, advanced and melodically diverse than anything Hendrix ever played. And that is NOT an opinion.
@turnbacktime the melody is great, it just uses scales that you haven't heard. The brain releases dopamine when we predict rhythms or melodies. So if music is new and different we can't predict it and our brains don't like it. But if you keep listening( or learn music theory)you start to understand and enjoy it. Also you disregarded my statement. It IS is more technical, advanced and melodically diverse than anything Hendrix ever played. Therefore not garbage. All I've said is FACT not opinion.
@skolnick14 I love technical players like Shawn Lane, Jason Becker, Gilbert and Buckethead.... who can be melodical and technical at the same time. But this...???? watch a video paul gilbert titled "Paul Gilbert - Two Types of Guitarists "
Technical isnt always better. Hence the reason Kurt Cobain was prefered by the generally public over the like o Yngwie.
Listen to someone like Guthrie Govan if you want to hear some great rythmic technical playing. Listen to waves?
@turnbacktime I didnt say technicality is better. Melody is. I just figured you didnt like it because you werent familiar with theses modes(Aeolian and Dorian). But yeah those are amazing guitarists you listed. I pre-ordered guthrie's debut album when it first came out...he's my favorite actually. And yeah I've seen the Gilbert video, rhythm is way more important than technicality. You seem like you know your stuff. I thought you were one of those idiots that hates anything that isn't pentatonic
@skolnick14 That thing about predicting music is total bullshit. It's just the common dork answer for something that runs so, so much deeper than that. There's nothing that gets old faster than predicting things, all pop music does to me is cut at my hopes for mankind. I get my high from the creativity I hear in music. When someone breaks away from the cycle, it turns my imagination back on. Also, there are no facts, only interpretations.
@idkwhattonamemyself I completely agree. Predictability get's boring to musically intelligent people. Some people like more complex, unpredictable music. Everyone else is doomed to listen to pop and other shit and never understand real music...I was saying that someone thought this had no melody because they aren't familiar with these modes. But if you learn or listen to more complex unpredictable music you end up loving it.But actually that thing about predictability is true
my dad has Voodoo Child on his ipod but bit visnt hendrix because it actually sounds good, and im trying to figure out if its Ray Vaugh, Vai or Satriani. it sounds different but it @) times better than hendrix, it has this one part 10 seconds in the song tht i like

too many people use distortion for a crutch to play what SRV sounded like with a clean hard overdrive sound............this is awful.........

God, please take Satriani and bring SRV back.

Well, the drummer's backing one of the most incredible living guitarist! ...now all he has to do is quit scuffing up and dogging the beat.
Seriously, though, incredible guitar work. Great twist on a classic.

@CarlChub You're right. I should've known. After listening to it again, it's clear that satch would play like this to a Jimi song.

@CarlChub Clear that satch would "not" play like this.

@skolnick14 yes it is technical, technical bs with no melody whatsoever... if you want to hear a good rendition of a Hendrix classic listen to SRV.
