This game has taken a few gradual steps back in terms of gameplay. The defense is terrible, I was playing online and it was like an arcade game the way I used D. Rose to fly all over the place and get a dunk +1. The shooting isn't consistant, if a player is a 3pt shooter, there are seldom times when he's wide open that he shouldn't hit a 3. They also took the "perfect shot" feature away from practice mode so you can't tell where the shot is supposed to be released. Of course, My Player suffers..

Nor can he out-run some of the slowest NBA players. All of the stats in My Player seem aesthetic, I've played as long as I could to max out most of my guys attributes and abilies and I still can't hit WIDE open shots or layups. Most of the reviews you will see on the internet, especially IGN, are super bias. I would definitely recommend everybody who is wondering if they should get this to rent it first, but I would not advise anybody to buy it.

If you only play My Player, then leave this game on the shelves. I don't get into Association or any of those other modes so I cannot comment on them. My Player in 2k12 is so horrible compared to 2k11. The first thing I noticed was all of the pushing that goes on in the low block without the ball, just trying to move is frustrating in late game situations. Also, I spent all my attribute points in 3pt shot(maxxed) and worked on speed (90) and my guy can't hit an open 3 to save his life.

also ,i must add that playing against a VIP profile controlled CPU team is far superior to playing against the 'stock' CPU logic.....the computer makes both more mistakes and more great plays.i have made about 10 team specific profiles that i 'program' by only playing with those teams.....Jordan, Magic, Hakeem and so on.so when'Jordan is active i only use classic bulls

Overall though NBA 2K12 is a great game I love the presentations, game modes, and even the gameplay in the game but as far as the A.I. goes its very bullshitty you have to adjust the sliders just to have a good gaming experience.

NBA 2k12 is a great game but what makes it suck are the following.

(1. Stealing and blocking is to easy I played a game with the 98 Lakers vs 93 Hornets and 5'3" Muggsy Bogues blocked 7'1" Shaq.

(2. Players defensive awarness is terrible you can play your best D and your players will end up roaming around the court leaving wide open men.

(3. The CPU makes nearly every shot so you have to change the sliders just to make it even almost.

(4. Fouling the call to many bs fouls in this game.

The MY Player is full of bullshit,the cpu shoots threes all day makes at least 60% of them.The cpu makes all open jumpshots never shoots less than 50% from the field.The AI has psychic defence,it always knows when you pass or drive to the hoop.The teammate grade system is even more unbalance then ever.In my player the GM will make dumb trades like Steve Nash for Jose Calderon really?.Star players like Kobe Bryant will make 19 shots in a row and draw 15 fouls. NBA 2k12 where bullshit happen.

2K Sports has released NBA 2k games every year for the past 5 + years on the first Tuesday on October. Why is DJ Skee so "surprised" they released it "so early" ?

Huge jump from 2k10 to 2k11? From what I remember they took out tons of animations ie. walk up feature, roll ball up that people enjoyed. Also they took out signature jump shots ie Dirk?

I mean 2k12 is dope don't get me wrong, these reviews are a little stretch. 2k doesn't need the bs. It's already GREAT!

@nba2ksportsking I have though of this many times. They have the rating for players being laid back or emotional in response to ref calls, but it has no bearing. They shouldn't get too crazy, but make Ron Artest flip out every 20 games or so just to mix it up. It's part of the game, esp. when you think about a one point victory/loss that had a tech free throw happen earlier that ultimately decided the contest.
