My non Scandinavian spouse has not come to appreciate the wonders of Scandinavian cuisine -- she will make gurka and krumkakor -- but has yet to embrace sill or rodbetor. Of course Lutefisk is out of the question.

As a fourth generation descendent of Norwegian immigrants to Minnesota, I'm not sure I understand it either. It would seem however that no harm was intended. Most of us are very proud of our Norwegian heritage...including dining on lutefisk and lefse during the Christmas holidays...among numerous other traditional treats.
I heard this song on KROX radio from Crookston, Minnesota this morning while washing dishes. As a full blooded norwegian and living in Minnesota? I laughed and laughed and laughed! Thanks for the song.
