as good as Merle's original version from "My Love Affair With Trains" LP.......Roger's part just adds something special. There are few songs that Merle does a duet that is as good as the original, but this one is.
I am Rogers fourth born child, Shari. I have never heard this song before. It brought tears to my eyes. I sure do miss him. Thanks for all the good comments.
just imigine if he actually hopped fright trains...... no matter how little water i had, i'd never get off one if i had music like this to hear while ridiing
Oh, and the song itself was released on "My Love Affair With Trains" album that Merle did but you are correct...that version didn't have Roger Miller on it
Thank you so much for this wonderful post. This song means the world to me because my daddy was an engineer and so am I...it plays across my mind every time I take a trip on an old dusty coal train! Thanks again!!!!!!
This is a song written by Mark Yeary. check him out on you tube.. he is a great musician, produced a lot of hag's stuff, and played piano for him for many years
something lovely with this....

I bought "Going where the lonely go " for my aunt when I was just a kid. I totally dug this song then and I totally dig it now!

Hag Has Done This Song Solo As Well But I Believe The Duet With The Late Great Roger Miller Is The Best
