40vol developer is way to much, even when diluted, and you should NEVER use more than 20vol developer!

@madzkelz1 YES YOU CAN? you can use 40, its perfectly fine, but ur hair will have horrible damage... yes it is wayyy better to go slower and use 20... and in order to dilute developer you have to use water, 20 vol + 40 vol = 60 vol... thats why her hair was so light the first time.

"I'ts like saying, if you have 1/2 of water mixed with 1/2 of alcohol on a cup and you take other cup with the same (1/2 water and 1/2 alcohol) and mix both cups you will have 100% water" hum... no, you'll have 1/2 of water (50% water 50% alcohol)...

@madzkelz1 the term "volume" is a level of concentration, "dilution" means that you will deacrese the level of concentration, therefore 20vol is 40vol diluted in half (40 vol = 12% hydrogen peroxide, wich means 100% = 333vol, so 40vol means that 100% hydrogen peroxide it's been diluted 3 times in half to be 12%)

@kv1024 really you just want the bleach to be the consistency of pudding- not too runny so it goes all over the place and not too think where it's hard to maneuver. There is no correct ratio of powder to developer like there is with color.

If you dont want to measure find a good consistency where the bleach slides off the brush easy but not too watery where it drips..........

Bleach is an oxidative chemical, so you need to use the tail end of your color brush to make approx. 1/4" partings to let oxygen pass through.
