  • i luv this song im accually singing this for a solo ensable wish me luck well not now but sometime in april so i practice everyday my choir teacher is supposed to help me but we havent started yet so im just kinda waiting now i sorta know the lyics now hehe

  • I love this song it was one of the warm up songs in chior when I was in 7th grade. I wish we could have sang it for a concert

  • singing this for solo ensemble!

    such a beautiful song!

    thumbs up if you agree!:DD

  • I loved can I record wth my voice?

  • @Flamorgan @Flamorgan That's not quite correct. "Eily Dear" refers to an alternative version published in 1918 for men to sing. Fred Weatherly was an Englishman who wrote numerous song lyrics from the mid-19th century onwards, his most famous song being perhaps "The Holy City". The Londonderry Air is indeed a traditional Irish song in its own right, though several lyricists have used it for their own words. The version of Danny Boy I used was published in 1913.

  • @Flamorgan Fred Weatherly wrote "Danny Boy" to a different melody, but later adapted the words to fit the Londonderry Air. This is the version of "Danny Boy" I used, which was published by Boosey in 1913. I know nothing about it being used for 1st World War propaganda; perhaps you could reveal your source?

  • I dont really like the song but the way my teacher tells a sad story I love it. Its kind of weird.

  • I love this song, but I have to agree with CDSing that this version is just too high for me.

  • I like this version very much. There may be some "wrong words" but it surely sounded more Irish to me.

  • i love this song

  • I'm not an oldy! I'm an 18 year old guy singing along. Is that weird?

  • Great video! These are the lyrics I have grown up singing!

  • Very beautiful. These are the lyrics I am familiar with and that most singers use. It should be easy to sing to and I may do just that. Thanks.

  • i can sing this reaally good! haha

  • Very, very nice. Not too sure where the "lyric police" are coming from - these are the lyrics I've always known, and the vast majority of singers use them. No doubt there are other lyrics, but we come here to be entertained - not lectured - and you've done a royal job on that. Many thanks, Les (London).

  • i love singing this song it brings back lovely memories thank you softpianola

  • Just to all the people commenting that softpianola got the lyrics wrong, I have the score in front of me. the only "problem" i see, is that there is the OPTIONAL part not included. I think you did an AMAZING job, and that this song is beautiful!

  • @shanesgirl1000 There is ONE wrong word, its not "It's i'll be there," its supposed to be "yes I'll be there"

  • I sing this song in chorus at my school and it's beautiful

  • THE BEST

  • I think this version is too high, because I have the music, and when I play it, I believe this version is one or two keys higher than the regular music. This is good though, thanks. :)

  • @CDSing101 This is in the key of D. There may be scores available in other keys, as sheet music was often sold in alternative versions to suit different voice types :-)

  • I am so glad I finally found something I can actually follow and sing with when it comes to oh danny boy. Most are too slow or too fast. This is a good version.

  • I love this song -3

  • luv the tune...

  • on 2:31 its "and all my grace" not "and all my grave"

    just to tell you :)

  • Wait a miniute, aren't these the lyrics to Monday Monday? Is this a cover from a Mamas and Papas song?

  • i have to sing this song for choir

  • i know this song and the lyrics are so not right

  • @animalgirl224 These lyrics are by Fred Weatherly to a tradional Irish melody called the Londonderry Air. The most popular alternative lyrics begin In Derry Vale, beside the singing river, so oft' I strayed, ah, many years ago, and culled at morn the golden daffodillies that came with spring to set the world aglow.

  • @animalgirl224 they r so right!

  • @animalgirl224 The lyrics ARE right...!!!!!!!

  • @animalgirl224 - actually i have the sheet music right here and i'm glad to say THIS IS THE CORRECT version....we used this sheet music for our choir and it is the same as this version on here...so i believe you are mistaken my dear...

  • @animalgirl224 they're correct animalgirl224 is right.

  • @animalgirl224 there are many different lyricsto the some older, some newer. I don't know if this the older version or the younger, but it is one of them.

  • its very annoying the way the lyrics keep jumping all over the place

  • very good you are so cool!!!

  • @purplewos

    I'm cool too.

  • i sang this for music contest and made some women cry.... i love this song

  • @kaylynnp6

Are you sure they didn't cry because your voice was bad? I don't mean to offend you but just want to examine all the possibilities.

  • I hve 2 play this for piano class...this helped me sooo much because i had never heard this song so i didn't really know the melody.

  • i'm singing this for school.but ours is a little diffrent.

  • LOl i have to sng this in chorus. Its sooo sad! :(cryy cryy.... haha. i sing to like oh danny boy oh danny boy..i love you soo..

  • i love this song soo much it soo pretty my music teacher sang it and i fell in love kinda sad tho

  • :')omg i love this song.. its one of my faves

  • oldies?! i'm 15 and love ittt xx

  • I love the song.....but trust me these lyrics are not the correct ones. Bt good job....great video....u might want to consider looking for the traditional lyrics...

  • These are the words written by Fred Weatherly to the tune of the Londonderry Air.

  • @softpianola These are correct, according to Declan Galbraith. SCREW JUSTIAN BEBIER!!!

  • These are the right lyrics!

  • @irishlaffytaffy there are lots of different versions of the lyrics

  • @irishlaffytaffy I noticed some wrong words too

  • i love this song!

  • we sang this at music camp(: im thirteen, i love this song.

  • do you think you could send this music to my email? because im doing a show and i have to sing like alot of songs and i would really love to sing this and i love this format. if you could it would be greatly appreciated! (:

  • Well, I'd consdier it a classic, rather than an "oldie". I just love to browze through music and find all the good stuff, and I just love this melody. Sang it at bandcamp last night. Really didn't want to, but they made me.

  • I cry ever time i hear this song is just so

  • love it...my wife's favorite song

  • i had to sing this song in a choir contest when i was younger, as a trio. We ended up getting a 1st place placement and I have loved this irish song ever since. it helped me get in touch with my own irish roots.

  • something is wrong with the red line. keeps stopping at some points and not moving

  • I AM NOT AN OLDY! I love this song
