I just found out that he was originally picked to play Marty McFly in Back to the Future. He was in shooting for 5 weeks before Zemeckis recasted Michael J Fox to the role. And looking at the suggested vids to the right, it looks like its not that much of a hidden fact. But looking at him, I can totally see Marty in his looks.

I like the fact that you could watch a couple of his films & you get a completely different appearance from him in each movie or tv show. Also his veggie diet really works, he's NOT aging at all. I can see why. He's simply NOT the actor that Michael is (although, I loved him in "Some Kind Of Wonderful.) The fact of the matter is that Eric just lacks the charisma that Michael exudes.

i don't see any lack of charisma in eric stoltz. they really are a different type of actor (a different breed, i'd say) from eachother. if you've seen him in other roles, then you'd know that he does produce an undeniably memorable screen presence. i don't think it was a question of charisma as to why he was replaced, just a question of the type of actor eric is and the type that mjf is.
