  • do you have a flickr page or website we can view the images? love hasselblads

  • @AnhRichie

I have an account on flickr that is mastergeorge as well. I'll have to upload these there at some point although I do have a few photos on it showing the Hassleblad cameras themselves.

  • When to the Designer Vintage Wedding Show recently (Birmingham England Oct 2011) and a number of the pro photographers are making a move BACK into film for their HI end clients using the basic 500cm !

  • true live view... wow!!

  • Never did like the Blad, fantasic lens if you got the Plannar 2.8 but for a camera that cost so much using nylon drive gears was just cheap and nasty.

  • @trackend So what is the best medium format, 6x6 camera in your opinion? (in terms of both build quality and optics)

  • @111Socrates777 id say IMHO for just a fixed lens the old TLR Rollieflex with the Planner (not the Tesser) lens was a truly fantasticly built camera with wonderful optics but the lack of intechangable lenses made it limited I would probably go for the Rollie 6008 as it was really well made but still retained the Planner optics they were way over priced so never really made a big market impact

  • @trackend I am leaning towards the Hasselblad because of it's size and optics.

  • @111Socrates777 you wont be dissapointed the blad is a great camera and second hand a good deal, body wise they are machined from a solid billet so should be reliable I would check the tripod mount thread area as the more polished the surface the more use it has had. Obviously most Blads have been proffessional used but there are some that have not if you can find one grab it.

    Good Luck 111

  • The tripod is a must in general, or were you shooting with a slow shutter speed?

  • what film does this take

  • @Vx1Vegitable 120 film

  • How do you know what shutter speed and aperture to use?

  • Mamiya rb67 is better : )

  • I have the 500 c/m and the 500C both great cameras Loud at Weddings

  • I think you'll find this camera has no megapixels... ;)

  • he "borrowed" it lol.

    it's worth "borrowing"

  • Is this the Acute Matte D focusing screen?

  • Does it have more MPs than the iPhone 4?

  • @c0LdPlayR0cKs You better be joking.

  • @mattmattb421 I was ironic, dude =))

  • @c0LdPlayR0cKs

depends, if you use velvia, you can probably scan your pics to be more than 100mp...so around 20 times better than the iphone. as for picture quality, more than 20 times better.

  • @c0LdPlayR0cKs Dude you are seriously joking XD As far as megapixels, the iPhone 4 has 5 mega pixels which is still pretty good. THIS camera however has 39 mega pixels...highest ever mega pixels in the world. 5 v.s 39. Do the math xD

  • @Travsterable THIS camera has a film back. Your argument is irrelevant.

  • @TheShawMaestro Well don't blame me. All you wrote was "Does it have more MPs than the iPhone4?" What the fuck do you think I meant? Mostly you to blame but I'm not going to start lol

  • @Travsterable Easy there.

  • @Travsterable as I said, I was ironic LOL

  • @c0LdPlayR0cKs I think the Iphone 4 joke was funny.

  • Just purchased a hassy today.

I am so stoked and cant wait to take photos.

Just looking thru the finder is absolutely mesmerizing.

  • do you have an accu matte D screen in there?

  • This viewfinder is awesome, it looks like the image inside is 3D! wow man I love this camera!

  • Great video and a very nice camera :-).

  • film cameras are amzing this viewfinder enginner is awesome

  • wow, I would like to see how the last shot turned out! It looks stunning in the finder

  • anyone help me? i am looking to buy a medium format? mamiya or hasselblad? street photography £500 max

  • For street photography?? forget about MF.....

  • One of my teachers mentioned that it's not a bad idea to use such a camera if you're going to be photographing people as it doesn't block your face and is therefore less confronting, so I can imagine it having some advantages.

  • Absolutely true it's less confronting, but focusing and framing is way slower. I have a Hasselblad 503cw and I would never think about using for SP. But if you are decided to do so, buy a Mamiya 7II.

  • Makes sense, I guess it depends on what you're doing.

  • Why? I used to do some decent stuff with my RZ67 at night and around crowds, too.

  • @ramonmasaguilera Hmm I agree with MasterGeorge on that point. Asking people to take their picture is also sometimes easier when you have an unusual-looking (for today...) camera, like a Blad or a Rolleiflex. Rolleiflex are also very quiet (the mirror doesnt move). Actually, Doisneau is famous for using a Rolleiflex, and the first paparazzi in Italy used it as well ;)

  • Go buy a Mamiya RB7... Cheap, and still a classic. It's a wonderful camera. Though, it's not that good for candid street photography... Neither is any Hasselblad, they're in fact too big for it. If you're aiming for just street photography, go for a classic Leica camera (M6 or M8 preferably).

  • ..just find the switch you've never used :)

  • The camera has mirror lock-up you know. Very useful, with that huge mirror swinging around and all. It is also one of the more forgotten features on this beauty. Not too many know how to use it, even if it's quite simple.

  • i got a decent condition 500c/m for £400 off ebay (lens and body). great camera

  • what a fine camera....

  • These cameras are around 5000 dollars what I found

  • Wow, where did ya hear that, dude?! I paid 1200 euro's for my Hasselblad EL/M (including two lenses and a big box of goodies!) ;)

  • ebay

  • Oh okay... well, maybe that's a limited edition camera or somethin'... these regular versions really aren't THAT expensive (a body like that costs about 400 euro's in our local photo store)! The lenses are REALLY expensive tho, keep that in mind while looking for a Hasselblad! ;)

  • This camera is a film camera the camera back holds rolls of 120 or 220 film also Polaroid film backs. What you are seeing here is the viewfinder of the camera it has a nice waist level large viewfinder. You are probably confusing the viewfinder with a LCD display witch is not the case here.

  • So...that's a film camera with a digital back right (The display) ?

  • It's a film camera but the back isn't digital, the display is ground glass that has the image reflected onto it with a mirror

  • Is that what a Hasselblad Digital back does ? Or does it replace the film sensor ?

  • I think it replaces the film sensor

  • @MasterGeorge yeah it does, but they cost a bomb though. i was wondering @masterGeorge, do you know anything about the EL/M?

  • those were some cool shots. did you ever upload them?

  • Thanks. I developed them and enlarged some but I have yet to scan them.

  • oh my god, i want one. so much. anyone want to swap one for a canon 450D with three good lenses? PLEASE?

  • emmm... a hasselblad costs probably about four times 450D... sorry, mate.

  • not this hasselblad, you can get one of these for around $800

  • yeah you are right...

but think it this way: this model is still 2 times a 450D (no lenses included, nor any film). :P

  • ohh really?? i dont really keep up with canon info.

  • yes i know that, i'm not an idiot. in the end i got a mamiya 645 pro and kept the 450d

  • also, the lenses were: sigma 24-70 f/2.8 (not the hsm one), sigma 10-20 hsm and sigma 75-300, whichis easily worth the same as a hasselblad 500c/m

  • dude, you gotta lock the mirror up before you pull the trigger. Hassey = huge mirror slap.

  • ah right I keep forgetting about that button on the right for it

  • Really no problem shooting without mirror lockup... Seriously, it's only an impression !

  • yeah the pictures I took seem to have turned out fine so I'm sure it's not a huge deal

  • High quality pics i presume

  • yup, since it uses such a larger negative
