I first heard Dick sing this gorgeous song in 1989, on the final episode of a TV series called 'How To Be Celtic'. By great good fortune I was videotaping the show (yes I know, naughty naughty!), so had the pleasure of replaying the song at my leisure. Dick suggested that if Scotland ever had a national anthem, this could be it. They could choose a lot worse.
@StuC5 Thank's for putting this up. This was the first song and the first time I heard Dick singing but couldn't remember what TV program it was on. I wrongly thought it was the Lockerbie victims benefit concert or an anti apartheid concert he had played it at. I rarely miss when he plays here at least once a year.
This or Burns' "A man's a man for a' that", would be wonderful choices, but please not anymore of that dirge you call "Flower of Scotland"?? It's shite & really boring, & yet you have so much better that you don't use?
Awesome performance, saw the majestic DG, in Sheffield last year, a true inspiration, such a genuine truly wonderful performer

What a fantastic performance - a paradigm of certainty and moral purpose - the message comes over as clear as can be

It looks as tho' Dick's playing his guitar in standard tuning on this song. Never seen him do that before!

@StuC5 It'd be a better choice for a national anthem than Flower of bloody Scotland, that's for sure.
