  • what happewned to true respect for the elders in this wonderful sport of ours.this is dispicible.i ,and im sure a whole hell of a lt of us have the common sense and self respect not to degrade other champions of other spotrs.the best way to deal with ignorance like this is just return factual information, records and medals along with a great bio on their achievments.hes not worth the krebs cycle it takes to keep him alive.wonderful footage.thank you!

  • @gymman62 somebody jealous

  • One of the most greatest sportsman from Belgium ever!

    Thanks Serge, rest in peace.

  • IT TAKES WEIGHT TO MOVE WEIGHT AND I DONT WANA 460LBS YOU FAT SLOB!~

  • what was his height and weight when he did this lift?

  • the fuck where did he get that press with no movement no nothing awesome

  • Nice vertical at the end too

  • I DONT SEE ANYTHING AMAZING IN THAT LIFT WHY HE WEIGHTS 450 LBS!

  • @gymman62 Trashtalking on the net about 1 of the strongest people ever in weightlifting. That's just silly

  • @gymman62 Let's see you do that with 502 pounds if it's so easy!

  • @gymman62 Learn to spell before talking trash little man

  • Beast mode activated.

  • @SkizzyMcfrazzlepop xD i understand what you mean! i'm 6packpenguin, drop me a note. i wana know what other people watch these vids

  • beast

  • thats power

  • he miIitary pressed that shit Iike a toothpick

  • I miss the song of the plates.

  • at 0:47 he changes from a middle aged balding 300 pound man into a 5 year old kid on christmas morning. awesome.

  • if he could clean and press it that easy shouldnt he have been clean and jerking like 600? lol

  • impressive weight.

but that was not a press. his back dipped backward as if to facilitate the movement. if u cant press it up while standing up straight and still, then its too much weight

  • @ilovetoeatrice Everybody pressed like that, hence why it was removed as an olympic event. It was too hard to judge.

  • @ilovetoeatrice tard

  • @ilovetoeatrice It just makes it a push press.

  • How is was that for him, the clean phase then a press! Not even a push press goddamn.

  • Holy shit, looked like he bench pressed that overhead press.

  • DAMN... major hops for a big big guy

  • Its a bear .... O.o

  • damn barely no legs

  • wtf that was a strict press Imao beasst

  • The power out of the hole is mind blowing. Real men press.

  • Holy shit he didn't even put his foot back on the press, epic.

  • @spartan1081990 Hahah yeah I can deadlift 415 for 3 reps. Bitch. Squat 405 and leg press 1000. For 17 I'm the strongest kid in my school. So stfu.

  • @sebass2013 then you must be the most unaesthetic poor fuck at school

  • @spartan1081990 coming from the douchebag criticizing someone else's physique even when he has a picture of a piano as his profile pic. If you are such a good eye at finding flaws in everyone else's physique, WHY DONT YOU SHOW US YOUR PERFECT BODY?? Oh no, your arms and legs are just as thin as those piano keys. So just go to the youtube search bar and type in "how to get a dick out of my ass" so you can calm down and actually stop fucking with everyone else.

  • @sebass2013 no im not lol I have an average lifter physique, unlike you " lol i am 17 years old, 20% body fat, girly arms and no core at all and can deadlit 405", BULLSHIT.

  • @spartan1081990 hahah i have videos of it so stfu.

  • @sebass2013 of course blocking me like the little fag you are will let me watch those videos

  • @spartan1081990 I havent blocked you. Go look at them, please give me views. P.S. "My skinny weak ass" couldent lift that right? Bitch.

  • @sebass2013 LOL HAHA not even parallel, hell i call pull 600 lbs with that shitty ROM, LOL what a fag.

  • @spartan1081990 Let's see it then?

  • @sebass2013 dude do 225 atg please, seriously your ROM sucks, and stop using that stupid smith machine, seriously, let your body work.

  • @spartan1081990 Why did you change the topic about you showing videos, you went straight to criticizing me. Where are your videos before you critique me?

  • @sebass2013 red herring

    >learn it

i wont post a stupid video of me squatting 600 lbs assited 1/4 ROM squat, it is just stupid, seriously take down those videos

  • @spartan1081990 you are so pathetic its fucking hilarious.talk the talk i see.

  • @sebass2013 says the fag who cant atg 300 lbs without using assistance and smith machine lol even girl leg press 800 like nothing

  • @spartan1081990 Ok then, please show me the video of you leg pressing 800.

  • @sebass2013 first show me your video of squatting 405 parallel without a pussy belt, assistance and that smith machine, ill give you a chance, do 315 atg and I would gladly shut the fuck up

  • @spartan1081990 lol, can you even squat 405 with a belt?

  • @spartan1081990 oh jesus christ, I take that back. I just saw that guys video... wtf..

  • @YoungPLER 4 inch squats on a smith machine with a pussy pad and a belt... lol he's probably good for 225 ATG for one rep or so lmao

  • @YoungPLER >2011 >arguing on youtube

  • Weigh 500 lbs , lift 500 lbs, not that impressive

  • @spartan1081990 shut the fuck up

  • @TheSquataholic >shut the fuck up on the internet

    dumbfuck

  • @spartan1081990 please don't post anymore

  • @spartan1081990 Please, instead of cowering behind your new 2012 Mac computer, why dont you go spend some money on the gym and go try to press 502 lbs. Didnt think so, stick to the Mc.Donalds you failure.

  • @sebass2013 says the poor skinny fag with a posing profile picture, no muscle at all LOL, i bet you cant even deadlift 300 for reps

  • Muscular macho man with a huge weight... and what does he do, after they greenlight the press? A fancy hop and then tiptoes to his coach(?) like a little fairy queen :)

  • This is so impressive considering its a PRESS at the end. Nobody can press weights like that anymore.

  • @Valhallx Zydrunas Savickas. 440X5 strict press.

  • not completely strict, but a lot better than Alexeev's, whose press should have been red lighted

  • sick press he didn't even push off with his legs. that was like a strict press with 502

  • @BrianDWalker3445 leg push was not allowed for the press in this lift. freakin unreal. freakin. Un. Real.

  • WTF. 228kg OVERHEAD PRESS? F*cking MAD STRONG

  • impressive !! WOW

  • this is just ugly strong muscle, downright impressive

  • He made it look easy.

  • That press was INSANE!!

  • @tldevilish

    such a stupid comment

    smfh!

  • Any one else find it scary how high he jumps ?

  • serge is what God must look like

  • "nice press" !?)) this press will be best forever!!(!!!)

  • i like how he runs around like a girl at the end, even though he is a complete badass

  • @TriangleSquare52

yea and goes to kiss some man

  • holy f*ck &holy cows !!!

  • C'est du Belge!

  • C'est du Belge!

  • 228 is the weight of bar with weights.

  • Is 228kg what he's lifting, or his body weight? Or both!

  • lmfao i like how he just went into school-girl mode after he broke the record

  • BEAST MODE!

  • R.I.P. redding

  • And that son..is how babies are born.

  • omfg MACHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINE HE JUST FUCKING STRICT PRESSED FI-

    *is flabbergassed*

  • Fuck em that was easy and he lifted it without jerking.

  • Ouch watching that press makes my middle back hurts.

  • @angelofangle

    why? he used his abs.

  • He did not strict press that. If you notice at 0:38, you'll see that while he didn't use his legs like Vasily did, he definitely used the momentum of his torso to swing up the weight. Not taking anything away from this spectacular lift, but there's simply no physical way for any human being to strict press 500 pounds without using momentum of some sort. Look at older videos of the clean and press to see a true strict press.

  • @TruthConsequences ya but if he would have trained to use his legs think about how much more he could have got.

  • @CHRISQ234 This was a clean and press not a clean and jerk, they used to be two different categories of competition but clean and press was discontinued as it was too hard to judge.

  • @TruthConsequences but damn dude...even with the torso swing that's pretty ridiculous!

  • @TruthConsequences most men today do a drop and use gravity to their advantage. Imo the small bend of teh torso was a lot cleaner than what is being done the majority of the time.

  • HE JUST FUCKING SHOULDER PRESSED THAT!!!

  • No legs in that press . dang

  • @griesrt this was a clean and press not a clean and jerk, they used to be two different categories but the clean and press was discontinued since it was difficult to judge for the use of legs.

  • @averymaddox01 thank you for elaborating i been watching alot of weight lifting footage but never came across this disciplin before, was wondering why i never seen this when thinking back on all the competitions i viewed

it was before my time i guess :)

    thanks again.

  • Maybe the greatest/best press ever.

  • @svunt It was also a safety thing, people were leaning back farther and farther and turning it into a standing inclined bench press! He didn't leg drive IMO, knees did not bend for the press, it was at the waist by the look of it

  • it's not even a push press........

  • Tony Soprano had a point to make....

  • The Last of the Great Silver Backs.

  • holy shit, he pressed that weight so smoothly. fucking insane

  • 0:48 DISNEYLAND!!

  • hey bodybuilders, where's your ego now? This guy gonna make Branch Warren and Johnie Jackson look like stickboys. They can't even lift his gym bag. This is some real raw power.

  • @m5p944 bodybuilders, strongmen, and powerlifters all train for different purposes so you cant really compare them to each other. sure they're all strong as fuck but they each specialize in their own area

  • He could have done more if he had put some leg drive into the press! Why didn't he?!

  • Comment removed

  • just fyi it's reding....one d

  • now thats impressive

  • 4 inch vertical ftw! But in all seriousness that lift was absolutely insane

  • As he leans back to press the weight, he definitely is recruiting his pectorals as assistance. Still amazing, but not strictly shoulders and triceps.

  • @jolting23 Which is why the lift was cut from Oly lifting in the first place. You could seriously fuck your back as you lean to get the pectorals working.

  • Surprisingly his shoulders look like they're never been worked out before. Now compare that to the watermelon-shoulder-size of a bodybuilder... bodybuilding is so shameful to strength sports

  • @llrond yes totally agree.

  • @llrond Are strength sports so exclusive to you that only certain kinds qualify? There is is a video on the tube here with Tom Platz doing over twenty STRICT, DEEP reps in the squat with over five hundred pounds. A world record squat? No. Strong? YES! Anything to be ashamed of? NO. Tom Platz is a class act. Live with it. Bodybuilders are here to stay, and well they should. My favorite strength sport? Olympic lifting. Redding was a marvel. That lift is phenomenal!!!!

  • best presser ever

  • total glory.

  • Not even Zydrunas Savickas

  • that is some serious shoulder/triceps strenght. Even now'adays, I don't think anyone could do that.

  • nice bent push press like alexeev except no knee bend/leg drive in redding's

  • I miss Redding, as an athlete and as a man. A great lifter for sure...as has been said here, he manhandles that weight. And it IS a press, not a feet in place jerk, like Alexeyev's power press of 507.

I don't mean to belittle the great Alexeyev, probably the greatest super heavyweight olympic lifter of all time, but Redding amazes me here. I feel good that I was able, long ago, to merely deadlift what these guys ram overhead. My congratulations to both!

  • fucking insane

  • you know id like to see the best bench presses in the world try that

  • Fucking insane he can press that

  • @wesgrip

Alexeyev's press shouldn't have counted. It was a freaking jerk. This is why the press no longer exists in the Olympics.

  • Wow must of bein an earthquake after he jumps at the end. Carnt stop wetting my briefs. Good tho

  • from 0:48 - 0:52 i actually laughed, he jumped so high and ran. Great man, pressing so much!

  • That looked so damn easy its ridiculous, not o mention that there was hardly any leg use (that was dramatic to see) to help him lift 500lb over his head. Insane, freaky strong stuff.

  • Such a shame they removed the press from the Olympics.

It's too bad they couldn't tighten the rules and/or get better judges to make sure there wasn't any extreme back bend.

  • Great lift. Anyone else think he looks like Tony Soprano on steroids?

  • How the eff did he press that without using his legs or any momentum??

  • Phenomenal shoulders and triceps strength.

  • First he looked like a big fatass but he is not, he is big badass. If I had to choose witch I will be, ronnie coleman or this guy, I would say this guy. He is just pure strength. And form is good, there is no exersise that even compares to good old clean and press.

  • Dayum!

  • omfg

  • rip

  • Can someone clarify something for me. Was leg drive not allowed back then?

  • @DazedNConfused01 its a press....back in the day, oly lifting had 3 events - snatch, clean and jerk, and the clean and press.

  • @BigJavs I realise a press is different than a push press it just seems stupid to not have allowed leg drive back then.

  • Could someone tell me where i can find a weight program to follow, I'm 16 years old but I can do slightly more than the average 16 year old in terms of weights at least? Thanks.

  • @OoLenny40oO

    bodybuilding(dot)com

    Read the stickies

  • @OoLenny40oO Youtube search scooby1969 or something like that. I've been subbed to him for a while. He always has awesome info!

  • @wookieeassassin lool same.

  • amazing..this is back in the day lol.back in the day of shitty cameras!lol but really..he jus pressed that he didnt use any of that lil power bounce movement shit that is actually included in the lift lol it looks like he jus does a military press.

  • ive never seen 500 move so damn fast that looked like a warmup

  • HO-

    LY

    CHRIST

  • this has to be the most impressive display of pressing strength EVAR!! he freaking PRESSED over 200 kg with no leg drive!!

  • It looks like Tony Soprano lifting weights.

  • what year was that ??

  • @electrovampir0 Year was 1971, at the world championships in Lima, Peru

  • This is one of the most impressive displays of strength I have ever seen!

  • WTF....HE STRICT PRESSED THAT

  • @paintballerx123 the ending i wad like :| monster. ppl in our times can't even that without a jump. if u look his legs were so straight too. mofo has a strongg lower back.

  • @paintballerx123 Olympic presses varied as to strictness, his seemed better form than Alexeev's---however; it was still an Olympic, not a "military" press. How much could Reding have pressed in "military" style? Take off 50 pounds before it maybe becomes possible. See other videos of the back movement imparting upward drive to the load. It ain't just triceps and shoulders! These guys could do a press either way, no reason in competition to do it purely strict. See other videos of Serge!

  • omg its nt jst amazin tht he pressed tht, bt he made it look so effortless, thts amazingly impressive

  • damn... no jerk justr press... OMFG i watched this 1000 times and it's still amazing

  • why is he so fat? You'd think being in a gym all day long would cause him to care about fitness...

  • @Cyrus150 how to you know he was in a gym all day ? and he was a weightlifter not a bodybuilder,he eat a lot of food all day like most SH weightlifters do.not just boiled fish and egg whites.

  • @cypionate011

it just seems so counter-intuitive to put all that effort into making alllll the muscle but not even be able to look like you could beat up a 12 year old... I donno, to each his own but if it were me there's no way I'd aesthetically waste that bad ass muscle.

  • @Cyrus150 So you dont think he looks like he could beat up a 12 year old lol?

  • @iamnotlame

At 0:12 no not at all, at 0:42, obviously yes lol

  • @Cyrus150 Strange, i mean the guy has no tone i'll give you that but he's huge regardless.

  • Just an observation: over 1,000 men have benched 500, while I believe only Alexeev, Reding, Patera and Mang ever clean-and-pressed it in competition. Is this correct? I'm not sure about Mang, and I can't think if anyone else ever made the "500 C&P club." Paul Anderson pressed 545 off racks, but never cleaned it. Ken Patera's 506 C&P in '72 was stricter even than the one above by Reding, IMHO. Does a video of Patera's 506 C&P exist??? It was amazing.

  • @finrod55 rezzadeh has clean and pressd it easily

  • @rctriplefresh5 Of course Rezazadeh could clean and jerk this weight very, very easily, but I never heard that he was able to press it. I can believe it, but is there any evidence that he really did press this much (in training, of course)?

  • @finrod55 Mang's weight was 230.5 kg, done some time after Alexeev's cheating press in Lima, where he "beat" Reding's (less cheating) press. 230.5 tops Patera's lift slightly, but I don't know about the form issue. As to form, if any of these men restricted it to that used by Bill March at the US Nationals in Chicago in 1969 doing 390 at 228, none of them would have exceeded 450 including Reding. March did 410 at 235 stricter than this lift by Reding who weighed around 75 pounds more.

  • wow thats a nice ass press

  • i love the emotion at 0.50

so happy for himself he exploded into the air using his leg strength.
