It has the same effect as a regular half-deck cut since the top goes to the bottom, then the middle follows underneath. But it does look cool.

Wow, that was easy to learn. Got it on my first try. Here's a tip; when trying to learn a new flourish, warm up first with some other stuff you know so that your hands are nice and limber. This will make learning something new a lot less akward.

You know what I find helps? Not just cutting off the top bit with the index finger, but actually lifting it a bit. It helps me keep the bottom third in place which in turn makes it easier to place the top third beneath it. Also, it makes the cut a little easier and less likely to send cards flying.
