i just tred to start my kohler yesterday. it didnt want to stay running for me. i think it was just bad gas in the gas can i had. usually it runs great and starts right up.
ive actually done nothing to my kohler. ever. it has sat in a basement (where it still is) for the past im guessing 30 or more years. it hadnt run in approx 20 years. but all i did to it was roll it outside i put the fuel hose in a can of gas, primed the fuel pump with the lever on the pump. i put a good battery on it, and pushed the button. ive never opened the carb or magneto.
I had to replace the contact switch in mine it had a broken terminal on the coil of the switch i got the battery out of my cub lo-boy in mine. it sat for 12 years before I got it out
i want to fix the control unit on my generator. someone bypassed it and set it up for manual operation. but it was originally 100% fully automatic. it would start up if it senced a load, and shut off when the load was turned off. it had an automatic choke unit, but it has been removed. it still has most of the control circuitry. but ill have to rewire most of it. i also want to keep the manual override.
