@Rcpengy123 It's not weird at all :) Try and find a Scottish Pipe band near where you live, I think having a good teacher when you start is important. You only need to buy a practice chanter to start off, have a go and see if you like it. You can get them fairly cheaply, you learn the fingering and new tunes on it before moving on to the pipes. The most important thing is PRACTICE, if you really want to do it you will :)

This hasn't stopped contemporary pipers from rigging together left-handed sets. In the 17th century when the highland bagpipe was still coming together as form goes, there were many different kinds of bagpipes and a left-handed set is certainly possible, if not likely. Scottish military regiments brought a standardization that we know today, bag under the left arm.

@792284001 You mean the current Pop/Rock-folk music; Folk music itself - i.e. ancient traditional music which has no trassable sourse or composer - couldn't have used guitars, since the Celtic Tribes of Scotland wouldn't have had guitars until maybe 2 or 3 hundred years ago. Therefor, the guitar addition is either 19th c., or in this case Pop-music addition, and in my view spoisl it, because it removes the purity and rythmic fun of folk music, and brings it all into 4/4 with german harmonies.

Not bad, a bit lose but is great playing, go look at some of the truly awesome gordon duncan(rip) or some one in the same style fred morrison,he plays in much the same way as heath, another one worth a look is finlay mcdonald. the best two lurking out there at the moment are jarleth henderson and ross ainsley. I dont think anyone gets there quite like gordon duncan precision ,power and pace. Its good to see folk trying . jim

@mhatkins Those are definitely not the uillean pipes. The uillean pipes sit in your lap and you work them with your arms. No breathing into them at all. These look more like the highland bagpipes. We will have to wait for a piper to correct us however. My knowledge of the pipes is limited since my Mom sold her set several years back. My forte is with all things harp. =)
