stupid miao/hmong people, whats so special about them. they dont even have a country and take up space. there just low asians and dont even campare with chinese koreans japanese and maybe that of south east other asians. low dogs
@koobl0 the MIAO have 4 major sub-groups and the hmong is part of them...if u go google for hmong population only 4-5mil+ hmongs but when you google miao populations theres 10-12mil+ miaos (inclued the hmong).
its just the that side joke is that hmong leeg (green) people have the tendency to call the colors blue as green. and therefore the joke was made. that was how the green/leeg joke was made, and people seperate themselves now. ex. pang: bring me that green bottle lee: *brings green bottle* pang: no not this one. that one! lee: but taht is blue. pang: I know. xD;;; I know because I'm green.
I dont know what Hmong meant. it's what we called ourselves. but the word miao meant "rice children". It's the name the Han(chinese) gave us becuase we are the first people to cultivate rice in modern day China. Hmong meant "free man" only because Dr. Yang said so. hmong/miao never meant trouble maker or barbarians or cats.
sorry every1. miao does not mean 'trouble makers'. i was responing to siameeyang. this is what he or she wrote
"HELLO there's things called Hmong/Miao history books. the only reason why we're called Miao is because we're considered 'trouble makers' like cats. IT IS in this book called, 'Miao History'. LOOK IT UP. Hmong is a WHOLE different story, It means 'free man' and all other things, maybe you got them mixed up"
Wow it doesn't mean trouble maker nor does it mean free. it means seed(seedling) translate in chinese and the Hmong meaning is sons of soils. do not slur things out of context. go ask the miao in southern china as thier dialect is still the same, how or what they call themselves then you will here the word Hmong come out of their mouths. and it was not just made up 60 years ago as my aunt is from flower blooming water yunnan provance and she understands me just find and she calls herself hmong
sorry to say but we all have the same folk story of where we are from, dose not matter if we speak differ since we were sepperated years and years on, we are all one!
No it's not. The Mandarin Chinese just gave us that name. We call ourselves Hmong(Hmoob) or Mong,, depending on what dialect we speak. I don't know where you got your info from, but its not true.
Hmong is us, The Chinese call us "Miao", because we like on the high lands, Miao means "Highlanders", but only in Mandarin Chinese. You see Hmong has gotten angry at Chinese for calling us that, because in other Languages, the sound of the word "Miao" will translate to "Cat", which angers us.
This Miao/Hmong (whatever you feel comfortable calling it) in China is, somewhat, unique. It's almost we've all gotten our own customs. It's a pretty interesting clip.
right right. Miao is a collective term. there are others with different cultures that are part of this Miao group. Hmong folks are just part of it. it is like having only one ethnic group represent Americans.
These are Hmong people, My Aunt is Hmong Chinese from China, shes been in the Us for 4 years now, shes says they call themselves Hmong as well, but kinda pronounce it "Mong", without the "H" sound, because its kinda silent. At first I could not understand my Aunt, because she spoke the Hmong-Chinese Green dialect and I spoke Hmong-Lao White dialect, Understanding her was hopeless, but my Uncle can speak her language. My aunt can speak White Hmong kinda clear now, but she still talks kinda fast.
It's not accurate, because the elders say they do, but they also say they don't know for real, because the story was just passed on from one person to the other. I myself don't even know the truth either. The best way to find out is to actually as a Green Hmong, but not a polite thing to ask.
Originally it was known as Green, but due to that urban legend that green eats people. Some Greens have evolved into calling themselves Leeg's. This I know, because I had the guts to ask a Hmong Leeg , who is a friend.
Not because of starvation. It was a ritual and it was not just random people, it was little kids that they where said to eat and not any older than 10 years old. They eat them for health and longer healthy life. It what I heard from my Great Grandfather, who is a Hmong-Chinese with a minor Mongolian background.
o really very nice...never heard that cool.. i read this book that it said that hmoob became canninbalism because the chinese cut off hmoob supply lines..when hmoob vs chinese
That maybe a different reason from the one about Green Hmong eating people, because They where said to only eat little kids. They eat their first born's.
They're not somberos- it's not a hat. It's usually a cloth that is tied around the head. Please reffer us to Hmong instead of Miao. Miao just means trouble maker.
HELLO there's things called Hmong/Miao history books. the only reason why we're called Miao is because we're considered 'trouble makers' like cats. IT IS in this book called, 'Miao History'. LOOK IT UP. Hmong is a WHOLE different story, It means 'free man' and all other things, maybe you got them mixed up
no the word miao does not mean trouble maker the only reason it mean trouble maker or cat in tat book is because the loa gave us that wen hmong migrated to loa because miao kinda sound like meow they use it to make fun of the hmong so that why instead of hearing hmong called them selve miao they call themselve hmong wich mean free people and the name hmong haven't been around for long we just recently changed it like 50 to 60 year ago during the secret war
actually i do, do the research if you were to ask your grand parent or your dad if there old like mine they'll probly tell you; if they remember it. also if you ever seen an interview by one of the hmoob soldier in the secret war they'll probly tell you the same thing.....Note....>>>>(most of our parent should have been in the secret war as a soldier or something, cause my dad was, and every single one of my relative dad was in it too.)
I know what igot2remember is talking about. Before the secret war all cultures including western cultures called the Hmong "Miao", and it was not until the secret war that the Hmong started requesting others to call them Hmong. So yes igot2remember is right about that part. However Hmong have always called themselves Hmong and that has been around since the beginning of the Hmong. it is not a new word for the Hmong people
mostly like they are in southeast of Guizhou, check Xijiang vallage. They normally performance this kind of dancing during their festival, which has about over 150 different one in Guizhou alone. But now they do it all the time for tourist.
yes... did this is widely practice all throughout most Miao tribes in CHINA... i have the video of this dance... not this dance but another dance like this one.. sorry, i can't upload it.. hmong people do not dance slow.. because we're from southeast asia, we lost many of our dance styles.. but this is one that many miao chinese still practice.. ^^
it dosen't matter who's oringal it is. All that matter is that we can assimulate it into our culture and make it ours. that's the way of capitalism. that's the way of the future. America did it, Japan did and so can we.
damn!!! they were dancing like mtv in some parts of the video!! and then the guys got down on their knees like WHOA!! MY GOD!! this is way better than our hmong dances in america!!
oh yea, and their clothes look a lot hotter and sexier! *wink* man, i wish i had those clothes so i can show off at the new years!! ^_^
The hmong here, only copy India, thai, and laos dance. We are hmong, we should at lease make up our dance....It's a disgrace, to say we're hmong but we dress in India clothing and dance at the new year..
i dont know..but im sure it is...b/c its more interesting and traditional then the hmong thai/laos...b/c all we have is salavan which is not our real dance and only have one basic "hmong dance"
no miao and meo both have one meaning outsider...
