I got banhammered from AOL for profanity back when I was a teenager, its bullshit. I have at least 25 of those disks, and I just recently purchased an airsoft gun.......time for skeet shooting.
Actually I liked to use the jewel cases for my other CDS. And yeah my friend would glue the CDs back to back and hang them on the tree around Christmas.
aol is nothing but bloatware now... back in the day the chat rooms were fun it was a neat easy way to talk to people.. now the chat rooms are full of welfare cases, losers, jerks. why would anyone knowingly download their software? I can understand older people who either cant adapt or simply refuse to change..
Before 1994, AOL was a standalone dial-up BBS that served lots of content - forums, chats, shareware software exchanges, etc. AOL was not connected with any other service, and was not connected to the internet.... until 1994. That is when AOL connected to the internet.
When it connected to Usenet newsgroups, all hell broke loose. Usenet users had been used to their own closed community, and all of a sudden, AOL foisted thousands of technology-challenged users onto the scene.
Why on earth do people still pay for it when they have dsl/broadband? Almost everything you can do in AOL, you can do still without AOL, and it's free.
AOL is for stupid people, or people who don't know how to use the internet and are afraid of it.
AOL is fantastic for me... im from UK and have had it for 4 years. I don't have anything bad to say about it since i have a wireless router so don't use the AOL software. I play counterstrike and always get good pings
AOL: "Goodbye!" I don't want to pay for AOL if I have High Speed Internet. Unless is Dial Up and I'm not paying like $25 dollars for that! I rather go with People PC instead!
Some guy in the chat (couldn't make out his name) actually said Ubuntu sucks. This isn't related to the topic, but this guy must be a Windows fanboy or just enjoy virus' and system crashes.
I stupidly stuck with it till last November. I like internet suite's so I was trying to find a good one that integrated email into it, then I found Opera and made the switch. I was stupid for waiting that long, but so long as I found the error in my ways lol.
I had aol until about two or three years ago, not realizing that I didn't even need it to get online. I tried to uninstall it on my laptop, which was apparently a huge mistake. An epic battle ensued and four hours later, aol was finally off of my computer. It would literally reinstall itself, if I did not remove all of the files at once. It was a nightmare.
If you use AOL now you are a moron.

I can. 2006. From 1995 and my parents always had stupid slow dial-up. When you pick up the phone during it dialing, it couldn't connect.
