The Smith's were great. It is obvious by Uncemevin's repetitive and vulgar vocabulary that his taste runs short of Morrissey's intellect. Was it tonge in cheek - was it sincere? Maybe it was both - "there is a light that never goes out" ..yeah, "Genius" - but you have to be smart to "get" them.
The Smiths are still my all-time favourite group! This song was one of their best. The lyrics are absolutely brilliant. It drives me nuts to listen to happy-happy music all the time, there are other emotions in the world too and I remember feeling so happy that they wrote about melancholy sometimes. OK granted, Morrissey's solo career never matched the genius of The Smiths but this song is still sounds great even 20 years later.

The Smiths sucked! Morrissey sucked! He and his stupid group was most depressing product from the 80's. Every time that dead animal cry spilled from my radio, I wanted to put it out of it's misery with a claw hammer. A thousand dead baby harp seals were more joyful than 30 seconds of Morrissey's screeching!

I love this song. How anyone can NOT like Johnny Marr is beyond me, and Moz is a brilliant lyricist.
