  • had to watch this for my driving course. very chilling

  • this totally makes sense. Unfortunately it will only be a matter of time until cops start sitting on the shoulder on the freeway and ticket anyone that passes them in the slow lane.

Make a new law and the cops will find a way to exploit it.

  • @00Mandingo00 Unfortunately? I hope they do, because these laws also apply to road maintenance vehicles in most states.

When you are working on the road and people are passing you by inches going 80mph, you'll be thankful that the state trooper is pulling them over.

  • So did anyone else notice that the cop just got right back up and ran back? aha that guys is a MACHINE!

  • totally fucking understandable, if i was a cop i would expect someone to do this for me, and i did this long before i knew it was law just because of accidents like that.... hell i do it for people who are broke down on the side of the road too, its only common human descenty

  • We just had that law passed here in California now.

  • LMFFAO the cop goes back to the car he was dealing with and finishes the ticket LAUGHING MY FAT FUCKING ASS OFF LITERALLY yahahahahahaha

  • the law sucks more ass and cock then this whole world will ever see in its fucking life time

  • i didnt know it was a law but i always move over or slow down for any car on the side of the road even just a broke down car, its common courtesy but didnt know it was a law.

  • Wow, I can't believe so many here are whining about this law. I've been one to slow down and/or move over for any type of situation at the side of the road, it's common courtesy to do so. If you're so unaware that this is a problem for you, then you should not be operating a vehicle in the first place.

  • WHAT ABOUT WRECKER DRIVERS???? It's not just about cops out there.

  • @rbryanhull It is for all public safety officals. Fire, EMS, law enforcement and wreckers.

  • But cops are like 20 points...

  • oh fuck them cops damn it. there all tough when not in danger. but a bunch of whining pigs when there in danger.

  • There are accidents caused now by this law. People trying to stop or pull over because of some situation ahead and last year it caused a fatality here in indiana. One truck driver lost his life .

  • Am I just dreaming, or did the officer who got hit in the video manage to just get up and run to safety? 0_o

  • I think the law is good but some states like Georgia take advantage of drivers. There's no sense in being fined $560.00. I can drive 100 MPH and gets a ticket for less. Any fine of this magnatude should be well published. After I was pulled I counted 41 vehicles in span of 15 -20 minutes! Tag team of 2 can help any local ecomony.

  • This law needs to be repealed. It stinks. Does anyone on youtube know of a grassroots organization that's working to repeal this ridiculous law.

  • @jimmi144

On the official website for this stupid law there is a police officer that admits to police officers having impaired perception abilities while they are alongside the road issuing a citation. Then there is another quote where some people are getting warnings and being scolded that what they did was extremely dangerous and then they are handed a brochure about the new law and let go.

    Kinda ironic.

  • I am almost tempted to write one of my state legislators, and make some sort of appeal

for common sense. I live in GA. GA is one of handful of states that allows jurisdictions to fine up to $600, I think Arkansas. Tennessee. Michigan have similar penalties, with Virginia having the harshest fines and penalties. I want write one these state politicians, but then what good would that do? They are there to serve the lobbyists that helped enacted this stupid law.

  • so if its a 20mph limit, you have to stop?!?!?!

  • Alot of these accidents that the move over law tries to prevent are caused by the officers pulling people over for something trivial like 10-15 mph over. These accidents are the officers fault. The move over law actually causes more danger for drivers having to change lanes quickly. This move over law is just others imposing their opinion and not accepting the risks associated with there jobs and causing more dangerous situations for the rest of us on the road. Lets repeal the move over law!

  • No it's not dumbass, you have no clue what you are talking about.

  • Agreed. Not a single damn clue.

  • @SquadCo288

Another troll, more insults, no counter argument.

You have no clue what kind of problems this law causes with the average person having to make a quick decision whether to change lanes or to hit their brakes and ensure that they slow down enough and convincingly enough so that they do not get pulled over for not changing lanes.

  • @qv76

Right, insult the guy and while you are at it provide NO intelligent retort to what he said.

Please come up with some kind of counter argument or just shut the fuck up.

  • ok, repeal the law, but only if you idiots agree to give the authorization to use deadly force against those who threaten those working on the side of the road. that means giving arms to firefighters, emergency auto mechanics, EMTs, cops, tow truck operators, and fire police.

  • PLEASE MOVE OVER FOR WRECKER OPERATORS ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO!

Our Jobs for Public Service and Public Safety are Just as important as those by the Police and Highway Patrol ~ And we want to live to go home at the end of our shift as well.

    DRIVE SAFE!

  • @hgary2003

You guys work just as hard as the police, paramedics, and other emergency personnel do.

However, this law is going to create problems with people making poor decisions and causing an accident.

If people are already distracted, this law will only cause more distractions to your typical motorist.

  • The law is poorly thought out. Its just a matter of time till someone panicks because they cant move over and slams on the brakes causing an even worse accident. The cops i've talked to agreed.I've got friends and relatives who are cops and i'm a truck driver and see more near misses because of this law. 20 mph less than the speed limit is too slow and dangerous. Some trucks load can break loose thru no ones fault but metal fatigue and cause the same thing they are trying to prevent!

  • @tim52160

Some idiot gave you a thumbs down so I had to fix that with a thumbs up.

I've seen a truck jack knife right beside me when somebody changed lanes cutting the truck driver off. It was raining and the truck probably reduced its speed by no more than 10 mph before the jack knife occurred causing a pile up.

This law is crap and I agree for all the reasons you posted. You cannot add a robotic element like this to the dynamics of driving and expect it to work out fine.

  • it's fair because its idiots like you who don't pull over that end up killing these officers. it's simple... follow the law and don't pay the fine. you make their life easier and safer and you save $715.00

  • I want to see the move over law gone. It causes more danger to drivers. Every job has risks, If they want to be safe dont pull people over for something stupid like speeding.

  • They don't have to pull ppl over, but it's the law and they HAVE to. The officers protect you even though you don't think so.

  • @qv76

They also need to be more aware because this law forces people to make a quick decision (which while driving is not optimal) to change lanes, or to reduce their speed by 20 mph.

Lets say a driver is paranoid about getting this lame ticket, they slow down much more than 20 mph and the person behind them rear ends them causing an accident and possibly killing another officer or killing the person who got pulled over in the first place.

This and other scenarios are possible.

  • @grandewavos

You are right, every job does have its risks. I respect police officers for what they do, granted they aren't abusing their authoritah with abusive laws like this.

I can see one police officers pulling one car after another until this law is common knowledge.

Imagine that, it'll happen, there is big money involved.

  • This law is about people who do not change lanes before passing a police car (emergency vehicle) that is alongside the road on the shoulder. The other way to be cited is if you are unable to change lanes you must reduce your speed by 20 mph if you do not do this you are eligible for a citation under this law.

This law has NOTHING to do with people who do not pull over when a police officer is commanding them to do so.

  • The Move over Law takes advantage of uneducated citizens with EXORBENT fines it cost me $715.00 tell me how that is fair???????

  • @YoukonwmeOudo

This law is beyond abusive. Imagine a single police officer citing one motorist after another after the initial violation. This is completely possible until the public is aware of this law.
