@7hac there's a timbre in Pauls voice that isn't usually there, maybe it was a case of going through the motions, but seriously, that song was near gospel on saying that wasn't JPM.... unless.....
@09jpick its repeated later in the track, he's saying "singing a song of ruin, I'd bet he says 'nothing doing'" he just extends the "i" of i'd to make it i-eeey-yiiii-iiiiiiiii'd bet... haha or something like that.. thats what the lyrics says it is anyways.. only paul knows for sure!
@jakestardust2 Thanks for that clairafication. It's easy to make fun of something you don't understand. So you think he's just making up some sort of mumbo jumbo but it's actually a thought out lyric. Very Sinatra like in style. Not that he wrote lyrics but he sang them his way. His style.
So the question is, why in the world didn't he release this in full on McCartney? I imagine the album would've gotten better reviews just with the addition of this song.
@clockworkfiction3 my theory is that the song was too dark and personal. If you know macca well, you know that a lot of his songs are about Linda. I suspect that this is true for this song as well. I suppose he didn't want to release a song with any hint of negativity toward her so he shelved it permanently. again, its just a theory. beautiful song though. I love it.
Ahhh, this is the song he send to sinatra, but Sinatra said no, that he was not going to sing about "Suicide", there's a another version but they are all bootleg, great to hear the original thing
youre welcome, trust me, im like you all, been waiting for this for a LONG time.... and you're right, biggest thanks to sir paul for finally releasing this gem!

For people interested, the lyric is "ruin, I'd bet he says..." not "ruinide"

I bet he's saying
'Sing a Song of Rue in Ice'.
What it sounds like at least.

@09jpick
There is a cleaner 1974 demo on the Tube

Pronounce is very clear there, and the song is great

This song was for Sinatra (who passed on it). There's a better demo out there with percussion.

@09jpick "Song of ruin ayyyy" I think (it's more distinct in the other demos)

@09jpick "ruinide" it's a made-up word, i think.

Really? McCartney send this beautiful song to Sinatra? Can you imagine if Sinatra sang this awesome song. Wow, that would be something.

i've been waiting for this song to be released for SO long. but yes, it does still fade in, and i really love the beginning.

On the special edition of "Red Rose Speedway", i'd like to hear Paul's out take of Ringo's "Six '0' Clock. A song he wrote for Ringo.

I love this but it still fades in at the begining. I always thought there would have been more at the begining as well as the end.
