its shocking to see how all these things have worked in today's media distribution. i.e. advertising allows southpark to put all their episodes online for free.
how about having more promotional physical items included with dvds and c.d.'s so you have to buy the cd because it comes with a free guitar pick or sticker or whatever.
Kids will always waste their money on entertainment. This is because kids have no responsibilities and nothing else to spend their money on. There is no threat to these media companies because they will still pour their money in, difference is more will be on posters and concert tickets and things like that, less on records and videos.
Strange that these young people didn't seem to make any connection between free-loading and theft/shoplifting, which it what it is essencially. Well they are geeks and someday they'll create software that gets ripped from them, then they will reflect back on this and realize the karma of it all.
Maybe because copying something and infringing upon exclusive distirbution rights and actually shoplifting are *duh* not the same.
Our legal system, as fucked up as it is, recognizes the difference while still recognizing criems as crimes, who says they don't just because they don't think like you?

alot of smaller record labels are releasing their music in torrent form and making it freely avaiable so people can discover their artists...and they are making more money than ever.
