I agree totally. lt's strictly style over substance in Nashville these days. All the guys are buff and wear tight clothes and the girls are anorexic and wear too much makeup. And the music is nothing more than top 40 crap with a little steel guitar or fiddle.
@machenderson This is not a pedal steel, it is a triple 8 string Fender Stringmaster straight steel played by Johnny Siebert in the "Little" Roy Wiggins ting-a-ling style that was very popular from the 40's through 70's.
Thanks for posting this song. Carl Smith is a great singer. I think it is sad the way country singers of yesterday are treated when they win an award to the Country Hall Of Fame and can't go on the stage and accept their award. It is presented to them days earlier and if they are there the night the other awards are given out the stand up and are recognized where they are seated. That makes me angry.!Thanks for sharing this great song.
When I saw him walking away , alone , that day.. after performing for a full house of cheering fans , I saw the other side of showbusiness.. there is also a lonely part to it. I never forgot this wonderful performance by Carl.. so glad to see some videos here.. Best of health to you , Carl..Den
I remember going to see Carl in Montreal ,a long time ago.. and after the show , I saw him leave..He was leaving through a long hall and he was alone with his guitar.. I suddenly felt very sad. What a performer he was!
the suite that johnnny has on in this video .i have it at my home .

From the Jimmy Dean Show. Carl was one of the best. Now country radio ignores the likes of him. A tragedy.

This song is just beautiful. NOT ONE of the so-called country songs you hear on the radio today even begin to compare in any way.
Does anyone know what show this is off of or why the weird show host looks so familiar to me?
FiddlinMiss27 3 years ago 2
I don't know what show it was but I believe the host is Jimmy Dean

Great singer. Too bad, he retired too early.

Wish that Carl would come out with a new one. If Ray Price can still record songs so could Carl.
