  • R.I.P Carl play your songs now

with elvis and carl ,johnny ;)

  • Why would Carl want to hit Jimmy Dean? Maybe I'm slow. I just don't get the joke.

  • Ah....I got memories of when I was a babe...

  • thank god for youtube carl goldie and many many others will be remembered long after todays lot are gone Carls duets with june were legendary

  • From the Jimmy Dean Show. Carl was one of the best. Now country radio ignores the likes of him. A tragedy.

  • I agree totally. lt's strictly style over substance in Nashville these days. All the guys are buff and wear tight clothes and the girls are anorexic and wear too much makeup. And the music is nothing more than top 40 crap with a little steel guitar or fiddle.

    RIP Mr. Smith

  • and the pedal steel guitars not played right, the way it used to be played in the 60"s every one sounds the same, 1 big melting pot,,,, sad

  • @machenderson This is not a pedal steel, it is a triple 8 string Fender Stringmaster straight steel played by Johnny Siebert in the "Little" Roy Wiggins ting-a-ling style that was very popular from the 40's through 70's.

  • @pro3tlb thank you for correcting me, i have learned something new today ,

  • Thanks for posting this song. Carl Smith is a great singer. I think it is sad the way country singers of yesterday are treated when they win an award to the Country Hall Of Fame and can't go on the stage and accept their award. It is presented to them days earlier and if they are there the night the other awards are given out the stand up and are recognized where they are seated. That makes me angry.!Thanks for sharing this great song.

  • This song is just beautiful. NOT ONE of the so-called country songs you hear on the radio today even begin to compare in any way.

Does anyone know what show this is off of or why the weird show host looks so familiar to me?

  • I don't know what show it was but I believe the host is Jimmy Dean

  • Oh ok,like the Jimmy Dean sausage guy?? :)Thanks for your response.

  • When I saw him walking away , alone , that day.. after performing for a full house of cheering fans , I saw the other side of showbusiness.. there is also a lonely part to it. I never forgot this wonderful performance by Carl.. so glad to see some videos here.. Best of health to you , Carl..Den

  • I remember going to see Carl in Montreal ,a long time ago.. and after the show , I saw him leave..He was leaving through a long hall and he was alone with his guitar.. I suddenly felt very sad. What a performer he was!

  • I knew Carl celebrated his 81st birthday on

Mar. 15th and that he and Goldie lived on a

horse ranch. Thanks for the info. anyway.Goldie passed away in 2003. She had cancer. You probably knew about her dying.

  • I believe Goldie passed away in 2005. It was June and Johnny that passed away in 2003. Just a tid bit.Lol. Thanks I do realy enjoy Carl Smith.

  • Sorry about that Annie. I knew Goldie died in 2005. Guess I was thinking of June.Good to see you back! Shirley

  • Lol. I thought thats what you was thinking. Its easy to get dates mixed up. Thanks.

  • Carl is still alive.I wish that he would

    record some songs again.

  • Carl just celebrated his 81st birthday. He and his wife had a horse ranch close to Nashville.

  • When did he die?

  • He's still alive.

  • Great singer. Too bad, he retired too early.

  • Wish that Carl would come out with a new one. If Ray Price can still record songs so could Carl.

  • WOW!..this is great:)
