nick got fired b/c nick was beating his girlfriend and abusing some crazy-shit drugs. he was getting violent too. but both him and josh are still close i believe as friends. and apparently nick is being considered to come back.

As Josh has said, Lullabies has some down moments, everything else is 100% quality rock.
Vulgaris kicks ass in my humble opinion.
To me, Oliveri's absence only gave a new interesting spin to the band. And Homme is either genious or boring in his interviews.
But after all, he is still the shit after so many years in the rock scene.

one theory could be that homme is a machiavellian, control freak who sacked nick because what oliveri brought to the queens ( attitude, edginess, hardcore cred) wasn't the path josh wanted to go down .i cant imagine nick playing bass on the last two qotsa records.Josh seems to focus more on melody and "ambience" in their music ( in other words "his" style of songwriting), "lullabies" is underrated as a result, " vulgaris" is a disappointment, hard to find song that sticks with you

yeah, strange alright..this is most sombre i've ever seen Josh in an interview..he's said before that this was most "down" period with the Queens ( the time aroung Nick's sacking) and it shows..none of his usual deadpan wit..just deadpan...have a feeling he still would love oliveri in the band...but, alas, nick has "issues"..catch 22 for josh, unfortunately
