Thirty years ago, I came out of work for lawyers at the CIBC building on Dorchester Blvd. in the dark of night and stood at the bus stop. It dawned on me there were mounds of snow, but the snowfall too light. I dug a homeless man out of the snow and recruited another man at the stop to help me bring him to a restaurant, and gave the waiter money in advance to buy him supper, not booze or smokes. Actually, just last week, I woke up a homeless man who was sleeping on a lawn down the street, and I woke him up to put a paper towel full of all my change into his hands, so he would know he had it. And I asked if he needed help, because I was ready to help him if he wanted. He thanked me in French, called me "sweetheart", and said no to the help, he just wanted "dodo" (to sleep). And he thanked me again and rolled over to nap.

Jack Layton is great at speaking. These truthers don't even realize that Layton doesn't even support or believe in the central claims of the 9/11 truth movement. Mr. Layton has stated a numer times on camera that he doesn't believe 9/11 was an inside job. I can't recall the exact video clips he said this as it's been awhile since I saw them, but he did definitely say this. His party has also fired NDP candiates and officials for their support for the 9/11 truth movement. Of course it's possible that they're not taking the 9/11 truth stance just to stay politically defensible but I doubt Jack is stupid enough to really believe it.

Also the timing of the collapse is inconsistent with any "controlled demolition" hypothesis, besides how would the explosives have gotten there in the first place? And what was the point of the planes? Why didn't they just say that terrorists planted bombs in the building (if you say that's too unlikely, then you concede that the government couldn't have done it)

I don't agree that '9/11 truth' has had a positive effect since too many people don't think critically and now believe that 9/11 was a conspiracy, but it could still be argued, because it forces people to think of some of the issues surrounding 9/11 (the patriot act which Layton alluded to, and so on).
