  • Interesting I prefer this version over the numerous other fingerpicked ones also posted on YouTube. There's something about the flat pick style here driving this song along which to me has a bit more gritty soul than the melodic fingerpicked style. His skill of course is masterful both ways but I'm talking my taste preference here.

  • great song but I can't help hearing a phrase of Ring of fire ( Cash)

  • thanks great music

  • WOW...They killed country music, but it's come back to life!!! I salute you, Mr. Scott

  • defroach30: Darrell Scott as a "national treasure" is the right way to put it!

  • dudes so cool

  • Soul

  • Thumbs up for Darrell's weird ass hat.

  • me and my mom were driving on a road trip to a funeral and we were crying so bad at this song. it both touched our hearts in a huge way for me, he plays with such emotion and hes realll tooo so good at the same time <3 soo good thank you darrell scott

  • he is crazy talented - see him if u get the chance

  • Not gonna lie, about 11,000 of these views are me. Such a tune!

  • @4:28

That is what music looks like. That feeling right there is impossible to describe. Darrell Scott has the uncanny ability to take you there. A naional treasure that is buried below the depths of the garbage that is country and pop music today.

  • @defroach30 National Treasure is so true. So much talent is out there (and he's one of the greatest) and yet so much inferior talent gets the publicity and riches.

  • i absolutely love this song. every single time i hear it i cry. sooo good <3

  • What a song.

  • Just heard this on NPR. He looks a lot different than I expected. The line "And only when i'm looking back, I see the straight and narrow," really got me.

  • I only recently became aware of Darrell Scott but I'm a fan now.

  • Q: How many bumps in the road must one run over to be a "Happy Man"

    A: None

Q: Who is the Supporting Cast for a broken song

    A:The Good Folks

  • Just discovered Darrell thru Acoustic Guitar Mag. So glad I did. This entire CD takes me on a journey and escape from a hectic day.

  • @jazzbass12

You should definitely check out some of his older albums or his work with Steve Earle, John Cowan or Sam Bush.

  • This song will hold me G ~ I want happiness for that big, warm heart of yours, it means the world to me ~ I will always love you ~ A ~~~~~~

  • this is the first song i've heard by darrell scott, and am definately a fan! this song is simply beautiful!

  • Is it me or does the chorus sound a lot like Cash's 'Ring of Fire'...? From 1:25..

  • "i love with all my heart, there is no way of stopping" ....."through the broken and the beautiful, the bad news and the good news is I love with all my heart" ...

Man, what truth here... love's risky... you nailed it, Darrell.

  • Darrell Scott is amazing. He is so into his song as he sings. You can see him coming out of the "trance" at the end when radio dude says his schtick. pretty cool.

  • Thanks Darrell for lightening the load on this journey.

  • Wonderful song!!

  • Saw Darrrell open for Paul Thorn at the Belcourt and was already a fan. Now, he is probably my favorite artist of all. Love "Real TIme" with TIm O'Brien!

  • So honest and kind. I have so much respect for this man. I feel truly lucky to have found this music and the people who can hear it, too.

  • I love this guy- such incredible lyrics... check out "Candles in the Rain" from his new cd... heart-wrenchingly sad song... written with such sensitive insight and tenderness... painfully truthful and so beautiful.

  • Heh. See the host getting all excited about the song? Yeah, I love me some DS!!

  • Now I'm a fan

  • Amazing Darrell!

  • Love the lyrics of this new song

  • The semi-muted tone of that Gibson gives his voice the proper "spotlight"

excellent song! Kind of reminds me Paul Simon's soulful side.

  • @PoorMansPlato Agreed. Definitely evokes Paul Simon for me too. Great stuff.

  • Darrell Scott one of the best

  • Great song! Thanks NAncy for the share;)
