Brainiac; you hit the nail in the head. There is no scientific data proving these claims, but can you expect from ABC's 20/20, these are the same guys who almost banckrupted Audi in NorthAmerica in the '80s with their false claims about unintended acceleration, in the end Audi sued them. But like you said, it is all about more consumption: Tell people their milk is spoiled after the bottle is open for more than one hour and more milk goes down the drain and more gets purchased.
Question, I just got some new tires put on my car at Goodyear yesterday. If I go out and check my tires right now, and they are however-old, would I be able to return them or request newer tires? If it is not an illegal practice, couldn't i just be denied? What power does the U.S. consumer really have if they purchased older tires?
okay, i just checked my two new tires. One is from '06 (two years old so not so bad I guess), but the other one does not have the last 3 digits!! The panel is blank! Did someone at Goodyear scratch it off?? Why would there be no code for the date on one of the two identical tires??
