Quick question.. I want to get the maschine mikro & in order for me to sample do i need a turntable? Also what is a recommended software to get the BPM from the original track?

@DJchupacabrah Thanks! The tempos of the drums and sample have to match. You can alter the tempo of a sample with many different softwares. It helps to already know the original tempo of the song you are working with, some softwares can detect it automatically for or you can get plug ins to just tap the beat until it gives u a reading. The key is getting both tempos the same.
Can samples be copyrighted? If your song blows up internationally like Jayz and Kanye's Otis do you have to give royalties to the original artist from where you clipped the sample from?

As 88and6music said, you have to get clearance from the publisher, which means finding a lawyer specified in music, who will trace the song to the current recording label that owns the rights, who will then ask permission (paperwork, negotiation bla bla bla), for it to be cleared. SOME people say you can just burn ur beats 2 a CD, and mail it 2 urself... Well gd luck using that in court lol
EPIC BEAT! I almost came on here and criticized for not making a beat but just remixing some random song but I heard a drum beat and scrolled back up and WOW loved it. just gotta be patient and wait for the actual beat to come on. nice job! might wanna fix the distortion at the end though

@kusucks991 We deliberately made it distort! The beat was being used by an artist, so we didn't want anyone ripping the beat at the time. You can all listen to the full, un-distorted beat at Mo' Moolah's sound cloud.. it's titled "Best One" (link is in the description)
you're not supposed to lift the needle and move it like that if you have a lever switch that lifts it and you bump it over and release. maybe you dont but that popping could damage your speakers fyi
Only the distortion on the drums is because of volume levels. For the sample they should have properly changed the pitch instead of just letting the sample play at a faster pace forcing it to pitch change.
@SevinStudios well, I didn't know there was a "proper" method 2 makin music.. we actually sped it up on the turntable, and then altered the pitch a little more on separate software (not the NI software)

I'm just saying there's better ways to get that sped up and higher pitched sample without it being distorted and skipping on itself. Maybe its because you played the record itself at a higher speed so your record player is trying to read the fibers on the record too fast, I think if you recorded it at normal speed, and sped it up through software it would sound cleaner. Just an idea.
Use a low pass filter on that sample and crunch that bit@#$@ with some compression and eq it...its a certified banger. Shop that joint, don't settle, you knowwwww!
@TRawAdams Yeah, its the Audio Technica LP120, which is a standard turntable but they released a version with a USB, so it functions exactly like a normal turntable only you have the option to connect it to your computer simply with a USB connection

@Sandman6616 Yo, the reason why it sounds distorted in the end is just because I boosted the volume really loud on the movie editor I was using. The original beat is not distorted!
@BIGCTV18 That's what hip hop is... finding a drum loop and a MEAN sample to go with it. How many times have you heard the same drum loop on big hip hop tracks? I mean it's even done today (example: DPG - We Came To Bang Out, The Game - Young Stunna, and Red Cafe - Put it in the Air... they all have the same drum loop).
Now, we can take it technical like 99% of the time and make our own drum loop, but these drums just fit so well together. So stop bitching and enjoy it!!

@CoppoStatus thanks, appreciate it! yeh it is, its good, but the only downside is that it records at a really low volume, so you're gonna have to bump up the sound yourself through a software. Its just the easiest for recording straight to laptop.
