Current research and development has some amazing things, even for $25,000 but they're not all good enough replacements. A Prosthetic leg doesn't take away cuteness, just remember that!

Great job on your first day! I took my first steps as an above knee amputee in Dec of 2009. It just takes a while to trust the prosthetic knee enough to put more and more weight on that side- but just take your time. As was stated below by myamputationdiary, it really does get easier. Eventually it will feel like a real leg, it will just seem to be asleep all the time (at least that is how I feel about my prosthesis).
Kadee...I wish you all the luck possible with your new leg and all your endeavors. Keep your head up high and your feet on the ground and you will do well. There are plenty of role models for you to follow. You are too smart and energetic to wallow in self-pity. Just think...you are already a role model yourself for others. Slainte
