  • Keep it open...its vital to our city.

Ignorant people like the poster need to fully educate themselves on the facts behind nuclear and stop watching Fox propaganda.

  • I'm all for keeping indian point open. When it comes time to relicense the plant, I am sure the NRC will make the appropriate decision, taking everything into consideration.

There is no reason to shut down a healthy plant. Do you realize how much of an investment would be lost in doing that? Keep it open as long as its safe. :Let the NRC be the one to decide that, they know what theyre doing better than we do.

  • Indian point dumps super heated water? Then why do they have a cooling canal that runs the entire length of the facility that returns water to the Hudson thats only 1.2 degrees F higher than when it came in?

  • they don't dump it in the hudson river

  • You need to do their homework before taking sides. Nuclear power is clean reliable energy if operated in a responsible manner which Indian Point is. Most of these videos are environmentalist propaganda with no factual information to back up the trash talking. Zero CO2 emission power-plants are here. Not to mention the fact that the nuclear plants in the US are of a much different design than that of Chernobyl. An accident like that will not happen in the US.

  • nice video! As I am living in the zone, I am all for closing the irresponsible and dangerous Indian Point facilities. It is just a matter of time before something regrettable and world-altering happens there.

  • I gave this video 2 stars because at least it is well made. But aside from that all of the information in the film is absolutely wrong!

There have been over 100 nuclear plants that have been running in the US since the 1970s and there has not been one death that you could attribute to the use of nuclear power.

France is currently the 2nd lowest producer of CO2 in western Europe. That is due to the fact that they receive 80% of their electricity from nuclear.

  • so wait, if the plant recieved a "C" rating which is an "F" really, isnt that reason enough to shut down the plant? the fact that its 40

MIN. awawy from new york city doesnt help matters. the sirens never work either. i mean cmon. we might aw well paint a giant ass bullseye on the main reactor so terrorists now where to fly into

  • @cobralover88 The sirens never work because they are absolute garbage. Look into the company Acoustic Technology Inc, or ATI. Their track record for failures of their products is absolutely unacceptable. They are literally the worst outdoor warning device on the market today. For such a controversial plant in such a populated area, the least they could do is provide a reliable warning system.

  • its really seems like a combination of the worst of the worst...

  • If you notice its all the enviormentalist who cant make up their damn minds about what they want to do. they complain about greenhouse gasses and global warming but complain about a plant that does none of those. I wish you people would get a life and make up your mind.

  • I beg your pardon. You forget to count the rest of the nuclear power cycle when you say "the *plant* that does none of those" Well of course. But mining, milling, refining, enriching, transport... all currently use fossil fuels. Enriching also leaks CFCs into the atmosphere. I wish you would get your facts straight.

  • if you want respect from anybody on the fence stop with the goddamm fear mongering. probably the same leftists that continually rail against the media and then you put out this shit. i was scared of the place when i lived in wetschester too but what the fuck? one more thing for anybody who doesn't know the area, indian point is not in, nor is it extremely close to new york city. it is almost 40 miles upriver from midtown, nearly 30 from the north end of the bronx

  • Yes, and what was not brought up here is that it sits right on top of a fault line.

  • You can't call yourself an environmentalist if you are for nuclear power.

Please study the facts on your own.

  • Like Patrick Moore, the founder of Greenpeace who now supports nuclear as the only viable alternative to burning fossil fuels?

Pretty sure he calls himself an environmentalist.

  • IT IS GOING TO TAKE EVERYONE BEING EFFICIENT AND SUBSIDIES GOING TOWARD CLEAN ENERGY WHICH NUCLEAR DOES NOT QUALIFY> FOLLOW THE MONEY>

    And from Wikipaedia...

Moore is supported by the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI), a national organization of pro-nuclear industries which hopes to enlist Moore's help in bringing about a nuclear renaissance.

  • And "pure" environmentalists don't have ulterior motives, or deep-pockets backers? Why do they call green parties "watermelons" in Europe?

Also, I think you mean PIE IN THE SKY LAND OF MAKEBELIEVE ENERGY.

  • I'm sure you've used epithets like hippy or leftist to describe environmentalists. Believe me there far more money behind the nuclear side of this debate. Patrick Moore made his choice to fill his wallet.

  • Patrick Moore can call himself the President of the United States as far as I care. He's not an environmentalist and he never was or never will be the founder of Greenpeace. Get your facts straight.

First of all, the founder of Greenpeace was Bob Hunter. At most Patrick Moore was at best an early member. Patrick Moore is not an environmentalist, he's a sell out. No one buys his NEI nonsense.

  • Bravo, Ive marched up there to close this back in the 70s. Why cant we shut this thing DOWN?

  • I am an environmentalist, and its pretty clear that this campaign - including this video - is just fearmongering. If there are facts, lets seem them - but stop the sensational stuff please.

  • Wow! Very fact-free. Indian Point should be kept open!

  • wow! very powerful. Indian Point should be shut down!
