  • The sound level is pathetic. Vic Perrin has such a great voice. It's a shame somebody can't snag this and fix it. Not to swipe it, to repair it! Gad!

  • Honestly, I love TOS Star Trek, but SPOCK should have been the captain.

He saved Kirk's behind so many times because Spock is a thinking man.

Kirk gets emotional/ irrational at the wrong times and Spock has saved him many times throughout the series. He's Kirk's logical/ reasoning while McCoy reinforces the emotional side of mankind.

Trek is an awesome blueprint for many films and good tv shows since the 60s.

  • reminds me of HAL

  • wow....4 Red Shirts dead in one episode....brutal!!!

  • I love the look Spock gives at 22:25.

  • My son, the doctor. ROFL That line gets me every time! This is one of the funniest episodes I've seen so far.

  • My favorite from all the star treks, Ive been waiting for Nomad to put himself back together again after that one.

  • Woman - a mass of conflicting impulses.

    Xb

  • Nomad would make a great Jihadi Muslim. Except, Nomad was able to see a contradiction in it's thinking when pointed out.

  • Nomad is a piece of shit!

  • Scotty is immortal. He is the Chuck Norris of Star Trek.

  • Uhura is adorable. She was by far the cutest woman ever to be on this show.

  • Poor Uhura.

  • the end cracks me up every time

    GUYS I WAS A ROBOT'S MOMMY :B

captain...four billion people were killed by that thing...

IT'S FUNNY CUZ ROBOTS DON'T HAVE MOMMIES LOL

  • M5 vs Nomad would be cool

  • I love how right before they beam Nomad off the ship, Kirk takes the opportunity to verbally abuse the probe just one more time.

  • equivilant to 90 photon torpedos give me a break the Enterprise would have been blown into a million pieces by the 1st one that hit???

  • Kirk has a thing for destroying robots and computers by reasoning with them. Seriously, just program one that doesn't listen to Kirk. lol

  • Spock: That unit is a woman....I have seen her vageen :D

  • God, Kirk is epic.

  • notice how much Nomad resembles a Dalek? Same general small top/larger bottom shape, the lights flashing on every syllibal, the monotone, and how much Ste-ri-lize sounds like Ex-ter-mi-nate.

  • This episode is unusually good quality science fiction for star trek

  • how but the dog has a ball gentlemen ???? lol

  • please.... ban lollipops

  • "My son, a doctor..."

    Love it!

  • I love how Nomad's voice changes at the end. "ERR-OR... ERRR-ORRR... STERRR-III-LIIIZZZEEEE!"

  • "He's dead, Jim."

  • Where's the deleted scene in which Spock marries Nomad?

  • "You didn't think I had it in me did you Mr. Spock?" "No Sir" "We are in grave danger"

  • I want NOMAD to be my bff

  • I had a girlfriend that reacted to logic like Nomad.

  • lmfoa

  • There faces when IT comes aboard.

    WOW!

  • That probe is totally on a string or wire at 13:02

  • Nichelle is so hot!

  • CBS is cool unlike FOX.

  • Trek trivia: Scotty is the only red shirt to come back to life.

  • Yeah I like Engineering and Security red. Gold should be the Command color.

  • Fun fact. The idea of Nomad mistaking Jim Kirk for his maker Jason Roy Kirk comes from the tomb stone in the episode "Where No Man Has Gone Before".

  • 48:17 -48:28 LOL Vulcans are funny :D

  • when Nomad blasted Scotty at 21:10, was it just me or did it sound like a laser from Star Wars?

  • @KharmaKhoma : LOL O yeah, that's were I heard that sound before

  • It's just you. The laser sound in Star Wars was recorded 9 years later, using a suport wire on a fence and a sound mixer.

  • "My son the doctor" "Hits ya right there"

*McCoy and Spock look on in silence.*-wierdo

  • That is sooooooo funny!

  • NOMAD-- heir to the IBM fortune!

  • Don't you just love the ENORMOUS buttons on the control panels on the bridge? Those things are as big as both of your thumbs together-- each!

  • "Get's ya right there, doesn't it?"

    YES.

  • Uhura: "Bloo-y?"

    XDD <3

  • Anyone else having trouble viewing these? I can't get Adonis to load and this one just plays black. No sound either.

  • visual is ok but I can barely hear it even on full volume

  • Srsly! What does it take to get some good sound??? Illogical...

  • Get a sub-woffer like I have.

  • @wolfstev76

Try using headphones. That works for me.

  • @MxT4ever

thanx, I actually hooked my ipod station speakers up to the pc and it still didn't help. Yeup, headphones

  • Nomad = major OCD

  • A brief glimpse into Bill Gates Future.

  • OMFG!! 7:05 communications in the future sounds an awful lot like a freakin' tape deck rewinding LMAO.

  • Spock should have snuck in a tape about not being mean to people when N.O.M.A.D. asked for the info on how to fix scotty.

many some of it would have rubbed off.

  • 48:19 So Funny!

  • McCoy said there was nothing he could do, but I would have at least tried CPR. He just stood there!

  • whenever something hits them, they all go sideways

they should rocket straight forward into the glass and squish sulu and chekov or whatever the guys name is

I WOULD LOVE TO SEE SPOCK FLYING THROUGH THE AIR XD

  • Nomad: "This unit is different. It is well ordered."

    Spock: *smug face*

    :D <3

  • 5 episodes are missing - "return to tomorrow" "i, mudd" "balance of terror" "and the children shall lead" "assignment - earth" cbs needs to get with it and add them

  • Yeah

  • I love the music for Star trek =)

  • Poor Mr. Singh. He knew he was going to die.

  • 17:21

Lol, Uhura's singing gave Nomad an erection.

  • You will be taken to a waiting area......

"Take him to a top securty cell"

  • Why would an object intended for use in a vacuum have external speakers?

  • @LeoHareMusic

Perhaps NOMAD inherited it from the 'other' alien probe, hmm?

  • @frostyslug The question would apply to the alien probe, too. Why would it have external speakers?

  • @LeoHareMusic Was the alien probe not designed for soil sterilization on inhabited and/or uninhabited planets? External speakers would enable a means of communication with sentient beings in order to inform them of the alien probes purpose. It also provided a way for the alien probes original creators to receive information from the probe.

  • Spock: A dazzling display of logic Captain.

Kirk: You didn't think I had it in me did you Spock?

    Spock: No I didn't.

    Kirk: :( sad face

lol sorry kirk i agree with spock

    :P

  • @emiwright

Yeah, that is a really funny scene.

  • xD It always seems so awesome that this was made in the /'60s/. That ending joke would've been awesome by today's standards. xP

  • nomad-cam

  • Ummm can anyone say Star Trek I: The Motion Picture???

  • So, the machine kills one of Kirk's best friends, but he's only slightly annoyed because the machine thinks he's God?

    That's hilarious.

  • That unit is a woman. - Spok

A mass of conflicting impulses. - Nomad

    lol - me

  • 22:18

  • "He's dead, Jim."

    Just... genius. Genius.

  • I have to scratch my head, each time they deal with a computer or machine, in this show; what is the deal with the machines ALWAYS having to say "I am (insert name here)"? Is it a compulsory code in their programming? What's the point? Is it reaffirming its own existence? Is it trying to say that, because it is what it is, it's justified in doing what it's doing?

  • I think that since it becomes self aware it, identifies itself to the best of it's ability

  • yeah and kirk always manages to get the machines to destroy themselves by talking to them lol

  • bluey?

  • blue! The ball is blue.

    >.>

  • I wanted to marry William Shatner aka James T Kirk, but never wrote that first letter!!!

  • My son, the Doctor!!

  • Great tampon commercials now!!!!!!!!!

  • 17:22--Boiyoiyoiyoiyoing

  • didn't that probe weigh 5 tons or something? but they picked it up with no problem.

  • yeah they had to use the antigravity bar things

  • Ya I realized that after I typed the message lol.

  • Spock: "That unit, is a woman."

Nomad: "A mass of conflicting impulses." So True

  • Very True

  • @Totalwar476 Sexist much?

  • that is a cute probe by golly

  • Nomad is a prick.

    @ 22:10

Nomad: "That unit is defective. Its thinking is chaotic. Absorbing it unsettled me."

Spock: "That unit, is a woman."

Nomad: "A mass of conflicting impulses."

  • "My son, the doctor!"

    lolz!!!

  • this episode is remarkably similar to the first feature length Star Trek film- where a vastly superior alien ship is actually the evolution of a Voyager space probe-

  • Uhura is the hottest black woman ever....

  • Brook shields is a bitch

  • 'intelligence does not require bulk' - scotty's look is fantastic :^)

  • Similar to Court Martial, Man vs Machine. Machines are tools, they must never take over, and we must never put them above ourselves.

    Or maybe I'm just crazy.

  • No you're not crazy, that's very true. That's what made the Borg such a great bunch of bad guys; the idea of sentient machine conquering/assimilating "biological units" is frightening; I still don't like bluetooth because of it LOL

I was bored to tears with Star Trek:TNG until the Borg showed up. When Picard was shown in a preview as "Locutus a Borg", I said "Oh HELL yes; gotta see that!" Funny how his name was so similar to the word locust, ravenous insects eating everything in their wake.

  • Interesting observation, "Locutus" and "locust". I never thought of that.

I didn't like the first season of TNG much. To me, they were just trying to copy ToS, without carving their own niche.

They didn't really have anything to say yet, just "Look! Here's Star Trek, with a bigger ship and better special effects!"

  • I wonder that they fire one torpedo, even tho the enemy is firing the equivalent of 90 torpedoes with every shot.

  • Seems that Nomad lost its gonads as it was losing its battle of logic with Kirk.

  • Best episode of Star trek ever

  • My favorite is Mirror, Mirror

  • I don't know. Brooke still looks pretty good to me.

  • I am so tired of seeing Brook Shield's face. x_x

  • 22:18- 22:25

    "That unit is a woman."

    "A mass of conflicting impulses."

    lol

  • Nomad was a very perceptive probe.

  • You hear that, folks? A Mr. Singh! Star Trek certainly was very egalitarian. What other show was portraying Sikhs back in the Sixties! This is the second Sikh that I know of on the Enterprise, after Noonien Singh in "Space Seed".

  • They deleted a scene where Spock catches Kirk and Nomad making out in the turbolift.

  • And that last scene makes it incest... illogical...

  • OMG I love spock at 26:22.

  • I wonder did Nomad made contact with the Borg?

  • lol @ krik at the end. "It hits you right there, my son, the doctor." ahhaa

  • That's the Jewish part of Kirk speakiing. I mean that in a good way, folks.

  • I only wish I could buy individual episodes instead of the entire season on DVD, as there only a few from each year I like.

  • colgate sucks

  • kirk is a mother!

  • weird how somecommets go to what they were replied to and some go straight to the top.. sorry about that... my comment is about responding to girls didn't like star trek back when it first aired.

  • they need seatbelts! thanks for the posts of Star Trek I'm lovin'em!!

  • Nimoy does a great impression of Nomad's computerized voice.

  • when Nomad first beams over everyone has a look on there face like WHAT THE CRAP except for Spock who has a look on his face that says FASCINATING :)

  • Couldn't Nomad just claim that Kirk is in error when he said that he was not the creator?

  • I'm tired of these toothpaste commercials.

  • yeah they need different ones. unfortunately the commercials are what pay for CBS to show star trek on youtube for free

  • I can't stand these stupid hair commercials with idiotic women with botox lip injections and no brains, but totally vain, obsessed with beauty and shopping. bunch of airheads that want nothing more than to feel empowered by preying on the lusts of men. until they lose their looks. and when I grew up, girls didn't like star trek, so why must I watch girly commercials?

  • Google "custom hosts file" and install a custom hosts file. It seems to have eliminated the commercials for me.

  • plenty of girls liked star trek, including me. And the commercials are what pay for these shows to be run on youtube, so stop complaining. It's not like you actually have to buy any of the shit..

  • hey asshole, I was simply stating a fact. Don't judge me for being a female, pig.

  • damn right. I just got started in star trek (the new movie that came out) but i love it and i'm a girl. dont mind the commercials, except that the volume jumps up everytime one comes up

  • Hiya. I agree with everything until the last part - I would like to point out that my mother (61) watched the original star trek and all other star treks (she knows just about anything about the series, if I want to know something I ask her!) , as well as having watched Dr. Who. She has seen every episode multiple times and remembers just about everything. I am also female, and a computer technician, so it's not the same as it used to be. =)

  • LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i love the last scene. Kirk.. It thought I was its mother...what do you think I'm without emotion? LOL. i love the awkwardness of the whole thing.

  • I see the string lol.

  • So the Enterprise's shields can take 360 photon torpedos? Yea right!

  • anyone ever see the Mystery Science Theater 3000 episode with 'Monad'?

    It worth checking out

  • Nomad says a woman is a "mass of conficting impulses"

damn good anaylsis for a broken machine

  • poor scotty =[

    always getting attacked this season.

  • he should get a new shirt

  • 4 billion dead, but you cant kill kirk

  • Damn Nichelle Nichols was hot back in the day.

  • lmao. Scotty is an engineer from the future and he still uses phrases like "mechanical beasty.." haha Oh yeah I am sick of Bono's stupid ass face in these BlackBerry commercials. I can deal with Brooke Shields and Rogain and all but DAMN!! I HATE BONO! Muting it dosent help because now just the thought of that douche on my computer screen makes me irritated.

  • no life readings, no answer from communication systems...where have i heard that before...=D

  • where HAVE you heard that before? lol

  • Scottie!

  • NOMAD = you dont want to get it mad or it will kill you

  • "What is singing?" .."For what purpose is singing?"

  • Nomad got a boner from Uhura singing LOL!

  • There has been speculation among some that Nomad was "reconditioned" by the same race of beings who altered Voyager 6 (VGER) from TMP. It is further proffered that that race of beings is no less than the Borg.

  • I'd speculate that this is the origin of the borg, It had a difficult task posed to it, it's not so far-fetched that the conclusion to being in error is to then try and gain perfection via absorbing a diversity of beings into a collective of sorts... sure it's asploded at the end but it's possible that probe X merging with Nomad had some crazy regenetive powers... two probes "merged" afterall

  • How is it racist? The story line led up to that point.

  • Kirk: You didn't think I had it in me, did you Spock. (jokingly)

    Spock: No, sir. (dead serious)

haha! The endings of star trek are always so playful! I love 'em :D
