  • Cool video- I went on her in November 2011 and took some photos (please see my video of it on my channel) and one of the photos is on the A1 Steam website under photos, 2011, 24th November- bottom one by Alex Rockey . Check it out and message me why you thin of it.

    Alex

  • Have to say that brunswick livery's nice indeed, but like other posters have said, the BR Ex blue will make it look superb!

  • 60163 tornado is even more beautiful than ever now she's in BR green, even better in BR blue. Over all, she's in my opinion, the steam beauty of 2011

  • wow.....cant wait to see her in a few weeks when she comes down south!

  • Wow she just looks magnificent.

  • She's a great locomotive, no matter what livery she is in, at the tail end of last year i remember being nearby when she was in Retford station, I missed seeing her by about half a minute but smelling steam engine is always a good consolation on a bad day =)

  • I went past Tornado on the train on Monday. She looked stunning, also alongside her was Dominion of New Zealand and behind them was the Duke of Gloucester. All 3 pacific's look amazing together!!

  • 0:38 And 'Old Spamcan' lingers nearby...

Joking! Man, there's a train I'd actually pay to take a ride on. Not like the old tin cans they put out nowadays (and what I use to take to school most of the time).

  • Beautiful engine.

  • Shame that the main line wouldn't accept her.

  • @easta007 - not true. You mean West Coast Railways. She is more than qualified for the main line, by far. First test runs after overhaul are tomorrow, in fact.

  • what next, BR blue (but which)? east coast? GNER? lol

  • @ejcmoorhouse - you say that, but Chairman Mark Allatt has a model of 60163 in GNER blue in his office, reportedly...!

  • @simierski god help us all!

  • so she will go to 2020 with out haveing to have an overhaul not 2018

  • She looks superb in BR green to me.

  • I just saw this on the a1 trust website!!! My God she's beautiful!! :)

  • Wow she looks beatiful. I herd the Flying Scotsman is almost fixed and Hornby is making modles to celebrate.

  • Looks Smashing in that livery. Can't wait to see it in BR Blue :)

  • nice to see the cab with the proper number on the side of it, instead of masquerading as 60103 Flying Scotsman. That caused a few heads to turn I remember!

  • wow she looks very nice she needs to go to GCR again in that livery too

    nice photos too.

  • She only came out a few years ago, and ALREADY she's had an overhaul? Woah.

  • @crazyracer12 - she's a working engine, who has had around 60+ steaming cycles, and been around the country on railtours and to preserved railways. Literally, the hardest worked engine in Britain for nearly two years. Every engine needs an overhaul every so often anyway...

  • @simierski Oh okay. :P

  • can't wait for the blue

  • That sound of a steam engine idling is one of the best sounds IMO.

    She does look lovely

  • Tornado Looks Great In That Livery

  • It's funny how she is technically one of the youngest engines in Britain :) BTW Simierski just out of interest did any of the Silver Jubilee rolling stock surivive? I know none of the Silver A4's Survived but I was curious about the fait of the coaches.

  • Looks splendid!!!

  • She looks far better in apple green.

  • to be honest i think she looks great in any livery.

but i can't wait for the blue.

  • why did it have two support? coaches

  • I like the Apple Green better. Hopefully Tornado & Flying Scotsman can doublehead soon.

  • Very nice. Is the livery he's in an Early Brunswick Green or the Late Brunswick Green her ancestors wore when they were scrapped?

  • Wow. She's an amazing engine, to be sure, and that pseudo-BR livery does suit her very well.

But wait, I'm confused. I thought I'd heard that she was having to leave service semi-permanently due to a fault with her boiler, something about the Germans not building it properly & making the interior space between the sides of the firebox & the outer wall too narrow, causing the boiler stays to fail. Still, whatever the problem was, I'm glad to see her back in steam now.

  • Yes with the lion Emblem :-D oh happy days

  • What a beauty!

  • Cool

  • Sure looks beautiful. "The White Rose"? Is that a special express?

  • Nice video, Simon! Can't wait to see her back out on the mainline!

  • I was expecting a new livery come 2011, but this is quite a surprise! What happened to the plans for BR express blue I heard rather consistently being murmured about before?

  • Oh, she looks so lovely in these colors. I wish I could be there to see her up close.

  • I was just there yesterday O_O (14th)

  • Lovely to see 60163 looking smart in it's new colours. And nice one as well for getting BR Deltic 55002 King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry in the background at 0:42 as well. Thumbs up!

  • Oh now this is just great. Now my bachmann model is incorrect. lol

  • @Marillionmad - but she'll be back in apple green in a few years. This livery is a temporary change.

Don't forget, we've got the blue still to come, and that will look fabulous! :)

  • @simierski Okay, :) I dont keep up with much of the Railway news, so... enlighten me lol

  • @Marillionmad - basic gist, apparently the correct term is "British Railways Dark Green" - the "brunswick" term is incorrect, self perpetuated by enthusiasts.

  • @simierski But I'd rather just say Brunswick anyday, lmao "British Railways Dark Green" is very long winded. "So what couler is this?" "Oh it's British Railways Dark Green" lmao

    She does look nice though.

  • @simierski what next LMS Maroon

  • she looks very brilliant !!!!! I love the old steam trains, but i dont really like the new ones. The old had life and personality, but the new ones are just boxes with sound!!!

  • She does look very nice and better than that horrible Apple Green she wore before, although the correct term for the paint is BR Brunswick Green.

  • @RailwayFanatic92220 - it actually isn't Brunswick Green - check the railway press for the livery debate to continue...!!!!

  • She looks very beautiful.

  • what a marviless engine to see. it's like you just step back in time. :)

  • Ok, that's impressive. When did she receive it?

  • I heard that you and Mr. Dean Walker were both there at the NRM today... ;)

  • The Tornado looks great in those colors. Hope they keep it that way.

  • She would look great in BR blue with C&C coaches.

  • Brilliant loco I must say!
