  • Phantom I had a Rifle Question. I own a UTG Type 96 and have bought some PDI upgrades. I notice you use a VSR-10. Would it be wise to abandon my current rifle for a VSR even though I have spent more money on it. Or should I stick with my Gun, and upgrade it full to it reaches its highest potential. Basically, does either design have advantages/disadvantages compared to one another.

  • My own experience of APS based rifles (which the UTG is a clone of); is that they are not as consistant as VSR10. The main difference being the hop system. The VSR10 system is accepted as being the most consistant/accurate. I have spoke to many other players who agree and said that despite throwing money at their APS/UTG it was never as accurate as VSR10 rifles they owned. Personally, I would look at how much money you would lose if you sold the UTG.

    Good Hunting ;)

  • @phantomTMA Do you prefer the 2-roy hop, or would the PDI be great as well.

  • The 2ROY hop that I use is purely for tanaka gas rifles. PDI is known to be hard to set up. I rate the VSR10 factory standard hop up (either TM or JG), just fit a 9ball or firefly (hard) VSR hop rubber. I use the firefly in my VSR and the 9ball in the 2roy'd tanaka m40a1. Just wrap teflon tape around it to secure it to the inner barrel and reduce air leaks. I hope that helps.

    Good Hunting ;)

  • @phantomTMA What Inner barrel do you like?

  • PDI or Laylax barrels. 6.03-6.05mm. I believe the quality is more important than the diameter.

    Good Hunting ;)

  • @phantomTMA Would you say both Barrel brands perform the same? Because the difference in price is quite drastic.

  • I bought my 6.05mm 554mm PDI VSR barrel for only $55 (NEW) because back then they were so un popular. Now PDI make a 6.08mm and say that is the best for accuracy while 6.01mm is best for velocity. Thats from the xfire website, if you want to look it up. I bought all my kit based on value for money and so glad I did:) it works a treat and was somewhat cheaper than modern prices. If I had to pay modern prices, I would just get the laylax 6.03mm; far better value for money.

    Good Hunting ;)

  • @phantomTMA I set-up my PDI in my UTG in the gun in not much time. If you are talking about tuning it so it throws bbs where I want. Yeah it was frustrating, but I got it where I want it and it hasn't moved. Plus I want that PDI barrel, unless someone makes a better one.

  • If the rifle shoots consistantly and accuratly where you want, then you should find it gets results on the gaming field and you don't need to replace it. I have no experience with the PDI hop so cannot comment on it myself; only what I had read.

    Good Hunting ;)

  • @phantomTMA Sounds like a plan, Even with my PDI 6.01 which I have been told is the most accurate (Obviously not) I and still getting about 95% of my shots ending up right down the middle of my crosshair. Sometimes it will get pushed from a small breeze I did not account for. So I can expect even better with a 6.05 Barrel. If I don't this gun adequate and accurate. I will go VSR-10.

  • Airsoft parts are not really proven/compared to each other properly. If your shots fly straight and true; I don't see why you need to upgrade anything. imo, the quality of the barrel's inner surface is more important than the diameter, when it comes to hundredths of a milimeter. To shoot out to 300ft requires lob shooting with any airsoft gun/setup and for that I suggest a mil dot scope and a laser range finder. You get good at judging the lob shots.

    Good Hunting ;)

  • @phantomTMA Oh and Thank you much. Good Hunting.

  • No problem. Good to help and debate setups.

    Good Hunting ;)

  • Do you need to re-zero your scope for cold temps?

  • I always fire a minimal amount of shots off on the range, at the beginning of any match. I use that to first adjust hop up (to get long flat trajectory) if needed (often I do not have to fiddle with hop). I then adjust my scope if required. 9 out of 10 times, I do not need to add a or remove any clicks at all. But it's still important to check and also get your spring upto consistant power for the coming game. Very cold temperature does affect the pellets trajectory.

    Good Hunting ;)

  • @phantomTMA Very helpful tips, thanks man. Your the best.

  • I know you say you don't need to spend a lot Phantom but, I LOVE my RedHead parka and bibs camouflaged in AP Snow

  • lol this is airsoft right?

  • My sport is HUNTEERING. Yes it utilises Airsoft equipment, but is not skirmish. look at the link on my channel for more info.

    Good Hunting ;)

  • Ha, love the deer running off at the end.

  • i need to find a cheap periscope. does anyone know where i could get one?

  • Well... I do have a video on my SuburbanNinja8000 Page that does some Testing in the snow. i'll send you a video of that.

  • Question Would Urban Camo work better (I call it Winter woodland camo)

  • I think if you watch this film back and imagine I have greys and black on me; I would stand out more. However, as always if you operated in teh correct areas (edge of the solid snow fields) it could be more effective. So it depends on the density of snow?

    Good Hunting ;)

  • what do u hunt? animals? each other?? i mean, reindeers.... useles with a bbgun, i mean it can attack you if you hit it. it could be angry. serious. very serious. angry. yes.

  • I hunt, other 6mm HUNTERS; in Hunteering Matches. See our other films for more info...

    Good Hunting ;)

  • @ProLee93 - He hunts People, in a Game called Airsoft.

  • At the very end when you are leaving there are deer in the back-round running. Watch closely!

  • cool videos as always just 1 question and 1 surgestion.

question: Where did you get your mesh goggles from?

surgestion: instead of a plastic bag as it makes alot of noise and the white isn't great and refelcts alot of sun. i would surjest an old pillow case as its matt so not too shinny.

  • Thanks. The goggles were imported from a US online shop, I have lost the link. The eyewear are called BUGZ (mesh size 10) and are for chainsaw work (not Airsoft rifles). Use these at your own peril.

  • The pillow case is a good idea, although as you will find, it will probably be "off white" and still hard to blend in perfectly. There are many shades of white material and to be honest much depends on how it reflects or absorbs the light. In this film, the sun is behind me so you are seeing that side of me thats in shadow.

    Good Hunting ;)

  • wat websites could you get good but quite cheap snipers

  • @orangypeel

    cheep? no way.

  • what gun are you using

  • In this film I have the JG BAR10.

    Good Hunting ;)

  • haha 3 deer run across the backround at the end of the video btw springs lose power in the winter as well so much so that we never play in winter

  • Is stealth still being edited?

  • yes. I know it's been a long time in the making; but it's still in the works.

    Good Hunting ;)

  • i love how you used the simplest white clothing to blend in to your environment easily, i love the gun's pvc tape wrap :)

i'm working on my gun, it's for a waterfowl/woodland environment, i use the almost same design from your gun sock/scope look and it matches the field by my house perfectly (cane field has many different colors in the winter )

good hunting to you phantom :D

  • hey what is the stock spring in the jg bar10? i got mine yesterday but it seems a bit slow so i wanted to see if i could swap that one for my l96

  • I think they are are not the same dimensions. Don't quote me. My JG is around 400fps with the stock spring.

    Good Hunting ;)

  • when you are going to upload your next video? i cant wait, awesome videos 5* =D

  • Also, the blanket will sweep over your trackes and might cover them up depending on wether or not the snow is hard and crunchy or powdery.

    Zero Missfire.

  • well, i dont live near any snow (Florida United States) but i have a sugestion. you blend into the snow with color, but not so much with space. try taking a bright white blanket that is the same color, and drag it along over you. you will blend in with shape AND color too! plus, when enemies get close you just hide under the blanket and wait for them to pass. they wont find you unless they step on u LOL!

  • Oh wow, got damned lucky with those deer in the background at the end!

  • @darthsmidge those were snow rabbits.

  • so they are, thanks for that!

  • They are 100% deer. In the film, I look at the tracks in the area and guage the deer as yearlings.

    Good Hunting ;)

  • hehe nice one,we played 2 in these snowy conditions.Loads of peeps thought where crazy..Also a tip put pepper in your socks and gloves ,this will keep stuff warm. And yes these oversuits are great, used a no 5 suit its kinda waterproof.Shame snow is melting now,was a fun hunt.

    Great job on the vid!

  • well phantom as allways i like your vids but i aint hunting anymore but i can still use it feks. when im in gudsö here i denmark i will think about so still love your vids

ps. when do the movie get out

    Dum3ga

  • how far do you live from the woods?

me and my friends would have tot ravel to get to some

  • Nice Phantom! I love your videos and was hoping for some snow tips, those tracks are a real bugger xD The rabbits at the end made me laugh too

  • have you had so much snow yet? :D

  • I think he did very good, could use some white gloves and boots, nothing recycling can't help you with.

  • Hey Phantom!

Nice Vid! But I think "BW Schneetarn" is better.

  • Thanks. I considered using a black chisel marker to add some dark patterns to break it up. Yet, decided I had enough contrast from my boots, gloves, goggles and rifle to need it in that density of snow.

    Good Hunting ;)

  • Hmm, colour.. ok, but ur silhouette is kinda.. visible. I'd keep away from open areas. Nice video though ;D

  • And i though your Tanaka will not work in these kind of temperatures.

  • He runs a MagnumBB CO2 system on his tanaka i believe, hes got a review in his vids.

  • I do say in the video that you want to avoid gas guns in those conditions. That is a BAR10 in the film.

    Good Hunting ;)

  • I think it is because all footage taken into the sun, meaning the camera side was shaded and there stood out more. If I had filmed with the sun behind me, it would have blended better. This is an important lesson to learn.

It is also far harder to move smoothly in deep snow.

    Good Hunting ;)

  • Yeah, if you know where the target is, and if you have a lot of time, you can try to get to the shot sight which is with the sun :D

  • Very didactic : )

  • I love winter ware far! Easy to blend in or easy camouflage. Very cheap.(but I use a snow parka that cost $10) And its very fun!

The only thing I hate is when you use a AEG. Your gearbox is weaker and more likely to crack.

  • Another awesome vid mate :P

  • froze at 4:26. great vid though, while it lasted

  • snow hunting rules

  • ex military?

  • @liam5991 no.

  • great ... simply great... where r u from phantom ? i live in italy. if u will ever come here just say it to me !

  • i was just wondering ware you guys were! keep it up! great video!

  • hey if you hunt deer, there were some in the last few secs running at the left of the camera lol

  • Those were rabbits, genius :P

  • @spitfire690 we have a mystery rabbits or deer, that is the question :|

  • No wait sorry, they're deer, they looked like rabbits then I realized they were further...
