I've been there. It's in Milan Italy. The fresco is at the end of a long room once used as a "lunchroom." Because of a humidifier, the room smells a bit like a basement of freshly poured concrete. Under the painting is a doorway. There is also a small thermostat located almost directly above Jesus's right hand, above and between the center and left windows. The paint is peeling and is in very poor condition. Note that all lines point to Jesus, focusing the eye on Him. Thanks.

I truly like the fact that Jesus could have been mortal...and was able to still make "miracles" occur..why does he have to be the son of god? After all, arent we all children of "God?" Besides, if he and Mary Magadalene were "companions"so? He deserved love also..and why must he be "godly"...look at Mother Teresa..Gandhi....He was a great MAN...and helped many people...dont get so offended..I feel the bible has been re-written too many times. The History channel does documentaries on the subject. I am entitled to my opinion and I do believe Jesus had a relationship with Mary, maybe marriage and continued the bloodline of the Holy one. If you have one son would you want him to practice abstinence and end your namesake and bloodline??? I think not. I will pray for you brother(sister).

The painting was done 500 years after the fact. It does not meen it happened but it is mine and millions of others belief that it was Mary and Jesus was married to Mary and had a daughter Sarah and the bloodline continues. This was my belief 25 years ago, 20 years before The DaVinci Code. Dan Brown has a 30 person research team that actually found many facts pertaining to the subject.

Yes, I know the door was painted after the Last Supper was finished but, its more of a perspective on position. Why there? Perfect size and added to most recent versions of the print. If it was not meant to be there, why add it to the reprints or new works. Maybe Leonardo's draft was found.

Everyone has an opinion, but who can be sure. Dan Brown says (blood child) St. Clair. The chair is a door, I know but it is painted in some of the oldest copies of the Last Supper. It is ok for everyone to have thier own opinion but don't be so sure, unless you were there.

I can't tell if you are suggesting that it is the back of a chair. If you're not, then this need not apply.
If you are trying to state that it was a chair meant for Mary, that's wrong. It is definitely a door; in 1652 they inserted the door as another door into the refectory where the painting was. Other evidence that supports that it isn't a door is the only original oil paint copy made of The Last Supper; it was painted in the 16th century. It is in the monastery in Antwerp, Belgium

Uh, that "chair" is the door that was built into the wall long after "The Last Supper" was painted on it. (I do believe that Mary Magdalene is in that painting, though!)
