If it helps, I'm currently working on GuitarJamTracks(.)com
I'm gathering a collection of free guitar backing tracks created by different people and organizing them by key, tempo, suggested scales. I would love to get any feedback I can get so I can make the site more useful.
This really helped me get a feel for lead. I have developed fairly smooth finger work across the board, and have several scales memorized -- but just being able to transition to this minor pentatonic scale really gives alot of options. I've been just randomly try to 'feel' the solo as songs play -- and I actually hit a few proper licks now without the 2-3 right notes, then 1-2 off, back 2-3 on and so forth. I have a long way to go, but I think learning by ear is best for myself. Thanks
You'll either have to arpegiate the chord or find which mode (usualy from the major scale sequence) works for it. If you dont understand these concepts, go look up vinnie moore and joe satriani for good lessons on what modes are and how they work, and for learning about arpeggios check out marty friedman lessons. You'll be a better player for it mate. Rock on! \m/_
i'm just starting out with guitar but this is very helpful. i just have some trouble following his fingers but that's probably common for a novice like me.
