I'm now 36 years of age. My father has played Irish and Scotish folk music all my life( he has been my lifes inspiration) and it's only now that i realise that folk music is still current and well. It;s nice to feel Doogies pull at the heart. Thank you .
I'm Fifteen and right now I'm being force fed Lady gaga and Justin Beiber, I am so thankful I am smart enough to listen to my dad who brought me up on The Beatles and Mr. MacLean. I was so lucky to see him when I was about 11 and I was also too young to realize I probably shouldn't have worn a Kiss Shirt at his concert. He is the largest influence on me right now and almost every sense. I'd give anything to have actually grown up with this music.
@AustinLondonMustFeed he is brilliant, and yes this is real music. But don't worry about wearing a kiss t-shirt to his concert. I think you were trying to hold onto the teenager in you while you were with people were older than you. We all do things like that. Trust me.
I bought a CD at a Garage Sale that had misc. Artists on it and Dougie MacLean Eternity was in the midst of them. My husband and I fell in love with it immediately. When i listen to this song i feel calm, a pang of sadness, but a sigh of peace. Absolutely beautiful!
.... I remeber so many great evenings dancing wi' ma two sons to this.....and they loved it so much......many years ago noo....but always implanted....cheers Dougie......Toamy
... i just loved to dance with oor two baby boys to this....seems many years ago....brings back so many memories, and makes me realise (I knew!) how amazing this track really is......thanks Dougie,..... Tom.
my first doogie maclean tune is the gael and im still playing that to death, absorbing it. I only recently discovered him while im learning to whistle. im sure he knew he existed long prior to this. Tee hee
im F curious how this tune would be if he was to do a fiddle instrumental of it.
as u can see my ignorance of thisguy is about 99% cos there may already be a fiddle version.
I opened up for Dougie a few years ago up here in Alaska. After the concert we sat at the bar and picked guitars until around 8 am.. He is a great picker because of the constant time he puts into his playing. He taught me a few of his songs and I showed him a few of my odd tunings as well. Had fun making up songs through the morning til the bartender kicked us out.. Most amazing were the songs that he played that have not been recorded yet.. He is a great family man and his music tells of that.
OMG, you got to open for him!!? That is soooo amazing! I would LOVE to open for Dougie! He's such an inspiration for my own music. You're so lucky! I'm jealous. lol, just kidding. That seriously rocks, though
I thought he couldn't have something better than "she will find me", but I think this one is really near... It's just amazing. I have no words to say what this man makes me feel and think. He's absolutely great. :D
Scary. That video is actually him playing my request. Had no idea it had gone up on Youtube though. Clunie concerts are magic. He has just done another three for 2008. Highlight of the year so far.
I'm in the States, and I see Dougie every chance I have, which is fortunately almost annually. I have somewhere heard that Dougieness is next to godliness. I'll go with that. This is one of my favorites of his, so sweet and honest...
You just won't hear an amplified acoustic guitar sound better than this. So pleasing. People go around the world and back trying, and fail to come up with a sound half as good as what I'm hearing here. Definitely *not* your usual quacky, plastic, cheezy, brassy sound.
I was there too this year (traveled up from Lancashire) and saw Dougie playing with his band. I really wish there was a CD of the whole band I could buy. He's an amazing songwriter and a wonderful performer.
One of my two DM favorites and a lovely performance. Thanks so much for posting this. Waiting patiently out here for "Until We Meet Again" or for that matter, anything you wish to post.
He's an elf.
